So great to have a TJ's in the 'hood and I love their garlic spread and grapes and persimmons and artichokes!! The kombucha is good and so is their private label club soda. The employees are always cheerful and bad groceries so well.

We all know that they disinfect the carts and have it ready for their customers, right? If not, now you do. One less thing to worry about when you venture out for groceries. Loved the succulent and cactus selections they had. Fruits and vegetables were fresh, they had these amazing Tiger figs for $4.99/lb and Saturn peaches for $3.79/lb. The figs were ripe and ready to eat and the peaches were firm and plump. Both were really sweet. Bathrooms were clean, parking was adequate and as with other TJ's always service with a smile.

Melon that looks as thought it was previously frozen and thawed out.

Absolutely love Trader Joe's but this is a huge disappointment. Bought a melon today and it's the worst piece of fruit I've ever seen.

The chicken tacos were VERY big, I came hungry and I have a large appetite to say the least and one of those tacos itself was pretty filling. Both salsas on it were delicious (they offer a red and green one)! I also threw on a little bit on onion, cilantro and rice and it was even better. Easily the best taco I have ever had. The quesadilla had the best chew on it that is hard to describe in words.....it was slightly crispy on the outside yet a little soft and the flavor on the cheese that was so perfect. The cheese even had that melted and chewy feel to it that just makes your head want to explode because it can't comprehend how something could be so good. The taquitos were so nice and crispy and had such a pleasant blend of all the flavors it packs in its shell, you really get all of them in each bite. They are so generous with their portions in it and fill up the tray all the way to the top. This place is a gift, run here don't walk.

The store is split between savory and sweet. I ordered a few tacos (carnitas, cabeza, and lengua). The full size tacos are quite large and filling. I have to remember to order the street taco version. The flavor is good and with the salsa it hits the spot. I also ordered the menudo to dip my tacos in. Paired the food with some horchata and agua fresca. The service can be a bit slow, maybe because it is usually busy. One thing to note is that you will need to order the drink with your savory order but pick up is on the other side with the sweets.

It had almost everything you might need for those last-minute "Oops, I forgot this" moments. And when I say small, I mean it's very compact--only single file to get in and out, with the aisles running parallel to the front counter. Since I'm not very familiar with Mexican groceries, half of the items were new to me, but they had coffee, honey, paper goods, some fruits and vegetables, and more. As we were leaving, we noticed a small table with various produce items, including cactus leaves. An older gentleman, who was just finishing up with a customer, was behind the counter. Friend: "Excuse me, what is this?" (Pointing to a small, round green fruit in a box on the table) Me: "That is for juice, for drinking..." Cool. As we left the market, I saw the same gentleman exit through a side door and start ladling a liquid mix into a Styrofoam cup. He waved me over and handed me the cup, which surprised me by being warm. "This is made once a year for her..." he said, pointing to a memorial for a woman that I could partially see on the right side of the store. At first, I thought it was a ceremonial drink in honor of a family member or friend who had passed away. The drink contained the fruit we'd seen on the table and chunks of sugar cane. I wasn't sure what it was called or what else was in it. When I tried to eat the fruit, I was met with a mouthful of tiny seeds (Note to self: don't eat the fruit pieces). The drink itself was mild in flavor and not very sweet. VH took a sip and made a face--she can be quite dramatic, so I didn't take her reaction too seriously. LOL I liked the shop! The people, from the clientele to the older man, were friendly, even though I clearly didn't fit the usual demographic. It felt like a warm, welcoming place. Food: 3 Ambiance: 3 Service: 4 Value: 3

They were also sampling a "raw" cake when I was there in two different flavors - I loved the cookies and cream. I opted for a gut booster shot (they have a few options for health shots each at $2.50) in the Curtido flavor and found it to be slightly gross but tasted exactly as you would expect. Prices across the board were pretty reasonable. They do have a full menu as well although we didn't try anything, nor do they really have any seating inside so it's not particularly an appetizing environment. There is some bench-type seating outside. Overall worth a stop in if you're into fermented or pickled products, otherwise it's skippable.
