It's an enjoyable shopping place with a variety of merchandise from furniture to wines to potato chips from around the world! As Easter is around the corner, WM has the cutest chocolate bunnies! Every holiday at WM feels like a special occasion. The store is well lit and merchandise is well stocked and presented for easy shopping and browsing. Pretty much everything is under one roof! A couple of things though, hopefully WM would make some effort to check in with some of food items that are past their due dates and are still on shelves. Unknowingly, customers pick these items and purchase them. And the app needs some sorting out especially with discounts. It says one thing and means another. We love this location! One of the biggest and best locations and the staff here is always wonderful! We come like every Saturday or Sunday, and we love Karen! She is awesome! My wife and I have been coming to this store for 5 years and have shopped here literally dozens of times. First, the positive. The store carries a great selection of international foods, many of which are difficult to get elsewhere. The staff are very nice and helpful. Now, for the aspects of shopping here that are frustrating to my wife and I. Often, when an item is on sale the offer has expired anywhere from days to weeks ago. A number of times I've been charged full price at the cashier because the sales tag (which has the validity dates in mice type) hasn't been updated. Then, I'll need to return the item or a manager will need to be called to do an override. Either way it takes time. Like everyone else who is a "member" I get offers to come in for "free gifts." During more times than I can count the "free gifts" have run out before I get to the store. For example, for the recent free "Biscoff" cookies promotion, the offer is valid is until February 17th. Yet today, February 16th, my wife and I were told that the free "Biscoff" cookies were all gone by Friday, February 14th --- 2 days ago. The promotions, with items that disappear way too quickly, are starting to feel like a "bait and switch" tactic to get shoppers into the store. We purchased the Larissa Chat Set (two chairs and one small table). I just wanted to take a moment and say that this set is well made and looks pretty good. All the pieces fit together well, and when the assembly was complete, the furniture feels solid. A few of the hex head bolts were a little tough to get started and tightened. I love the store and all the inventory- however- 3 times out of 3 the service at the check out is a disaster. The employees could care less how long you wait in line. They chat with the current guest for forever and are always asking a manager for an override or similar problem. Then when it's your turn, they get to the end and ask you if you want to see if you have coupons. What ? Any other store these days knows who you are with your phone no etc. and has any coupon/ discount available on demand. I'm done !!! I've been a regular customer for years but have decided I will no longer shop here. It's seem that every time they offer a "free item" w purchase (sent via text to rewards members) for same day use, they have "just run out" when I get to the counter to pay. It's always the same line. "Oh sorry we just gave away the last one". I understand there may be a limit, but every time?? I explained that the text messages come in late morning and if drive there right after work, it always too late. I put in an order yesterday for curbside pick up. I did not realize until I got home that they gave me the wrong items. I called the store immediately and they told me that they would put aside the right items. I was not able to go back right away, but she told me no worries cause she would exchange it for me in the morning. So today I made another trip back, which is 20 minutes out of my way. When I got to the store. I was told they couldn't find the replacement order. I explained to the girl what the situation was and she went back into the store to see if she could find what I was looking for originally. Finally, she came out and told me that the manager said I would have to come into the store so they could do an exchange. I explained to her that i had just gotten over surgery and was not able to get out of my car which is the reason why I chose Pick Up in the first place. She went back into the store to talk to the manager again and then proceeded to come out and tell me I owe them a dollar difference and I'd have to come in the store to pay. I was a little confused since I paid for the original item online. I then told her do whatever you need to do, but I'm not coming in the store. This was the stores error in the first place why should I have to be inconvenience anymore than I already had been? I've been here many times in the past but wanted to get some matcha and see what unique types of foods they'd have. One thing I love about this location is their selection of tea. I have plenty of tea bags so I grabbed the powder matcha I originally came in for. I decided to walk through the food section and treat myself to some sourdough pretzels made with malted barely and hops. To pair with that, I decided to pick up some truffle mustard which taste amazing with the pretzels. Recently, I've been into ciders so I bought myself a box of strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry ciders which tasted very good but they're super sweet! Often times there will only be one checkout cashier meanwhile I see red aprons running around the store doing who knows what - but not checking us customers standing in line. Okay - kind of a cool, eclectic little place! I used to live by the one in west LA/Westwood and I didn't "get it" then. Now I do. I think. I recently popped in, as someone recommended they have a good selection of food that doesn't require refrigeration. I was going on a backpacking trip and was looking for some items for a communal meal. I ended up getting some sausage, cheese, pepperoni, crackers and other bits and pieces. The crackers were the same I could buy elsewhere, but were about $2 more. That was the only thing that kind of irked me. I do like their international foods. I have to be honest, I stop by every now and then to say hi to the World Market team here in Mission Viejo. The staff here are the sweetest people I have ever met. Whether I have a specific item to find, the staff are always happy and eager to help me locate it or answer any questions. I have made previous reviews about the excellent service I've received but since I'm not sure how to give employee reviews, I will post them here. This particular day, I was greeted by Robert who has helped me multiple times in the past. He is usually one of the main staff who kindly does all the heavy lifting for the heavier items, whether he is carrying them to people's cars outside or getting items from the floor. I always joke with him this is where he gets his endorphins, all this work out. This is the second time I've met Grace and let me tell you, she's just amazing to chat with and goes above and beyond at the register to assist me redeem my member rewards as well as to help me get items even though she had to walk from the register all the way to the back of the store to help me get a dozen passion fruit juices. I love the conversations we have and the way she is so loving to my dog. In fact, everyone in this store are the sweetest animal lovers. I met Elaine, the manager for the first time today. She noticed I was trying to purchase items online for curbside and rather than go through the trouble, she was trying to help me navigate through my member rewards through my phone.
