I give four stars because I'm otherwise a fan of Trader Joe's. What ticks me off is I was in the Capitol Hill store a few days before Xmas and bought an 8oz bag of sliced almonds which were I believe $3.49, but after Xmas I was looking at receipt and saw I had been charged over $10.00. WTF. I have eaten the nuts and don't live in the area of that particular store. Beware. read more

It used to be a pleasure to shop at this TJ's. The crew they had the first few years was great. Now, not so much. It's become more of a challenge to go there. Mainly it's the staff. So many of the new checkers are rude. I hate people throwing my food, and that seems to be common now. Plus the scanners usually look like they haven't been wiped down in a long time. Then there are the dogs in the store. Once one peed on the lower shelf of dry good. The owner giggled and walked away. Despite their policy of service dogs only, no one at TJ's says a thing to customers bringing their dogs in. Really dog owners, are you that desperate for attention that you need to bring your pooch into a food market. Get a life. And TJ's, train your staff to treat people purchases with some respect. read more

Wow! This place is just the best. The prices are great (I don't know if you are a fan of sun dried tomato Tofurky dogs, but I sure as heck am and at a price you just can't beat). They even have samples and a public restroom (very clean). They also have two coffee grinders. One for decaf and one regular. If I drink regular I get el loco. I also received the best service of my grocery shopping career from a young man by the name of Josh. He was a gem. Do your self a favor and check this place out. Save some Tofurky's for me!!! read more

What? Trader Joe's Pricey? No way. I can't believe that was said. Maybe it's because I'm coming from California, but I'm really impressed by the prices. Luckily I don't have to worry about the common complaint of the parking garage because I can walk there. It's true too that the selection is limited, but the things they do have are especially interesting. I got some pretty cool stuff for cheap...ginger lemonade, spicy hummus, panang curry, crushed wheat sour dough rolls, some excellent rosemary foccacia bread; the sweetest, reddest, juiciest on the vine tomatos i've ever eaten and french green tea soap that smells soooo good and fills my whole apartment with its aroma. It's also true what another yelper said....lots of hot guys. Unfortunately, they're mostly gay from what I've seen so far. The staff there is super friendly and the cashier guy even offered me a ginger snap while checking out. I love Trader Joe's. read more

Can a place be TOO popular? My hatred of this place has nothing to do with the store itself. TJ's is a great store, the prices are good, the staff are GREAT, the location is decent. The CUSTOMERS however... seriously, what is it about setting foot in this store that turns people into jackasses? The aisles are very narrow, and people feel no shame in blocking the entire aisle while talking on their cell phone in classic Seattle passive/aggressive fashion. I would give this place 5 stars, but the aisles really are too narrow for as busy as it is. Perhaps I am just there at the wrong time of day, but the overcrowding makes shopping here frustratingly impossible. Once you get to the checkout things move smoothly, but the lines tend to be very long, even with each register open. As a person with a physical disability, it's hard to stand in line that long, even with my cane. I can't help but wonder if this location would benefit from longer hours of operation or a larger building. Just a suggestion, TJs! read more

Vegan friendly, not so crowded if you you go the last hour of the day, friendly staff, and sometimes if I ask they give me stickers :)

trader's joes makes being healthy a hell of alot easier or should say just cheaper. plus lost of hott guys seem to shop here. trader joes is alright with me. if your here defiantly get a bottle of charles shaw cabernet sauvignon its the best $3 wine you'lll ever buy. read more

I love that I can actually get my shopping done in 25 minutes here unlike at the huge QFC and it's about 50% cheaper than PCC. Everything is pretty natural, but they don't try to force you to only eat granola and soy and have lots of yummy stuff stocked too. The ready made food is really good too. I live on the chicken lasagna sometimes. The store is also open late, and the staff do an amazing job packing the groceries. read more

Let me join the chorus of Yelper voices raised in horror at the parking garage here. I innocently entered, drove up a ramp so steep that I'm amazed it was of legal grade, and immediately witnessed two SUV's playing "chicken" over a parking space so microscopic that neither of them could have hoped to fit in. All I could think was: "Is this horror show Trader Joe's way of encouraging people to walk here?" Say it ain't so Joe! I never did make it inside to shop. read more

Wow- Coming from our Midwest Trader Joe's and being new to Seattle/ Capitol Hill area. This Trader Joe's is very large! They had a great selection, and friendly staff. Very reasonable prices , compared to other grocery stores in the capitol hill area. read more

well i love this place. thank goodness it's within walking distance, i love their frozen section obviously, it's awesome! and all their ready made goodies like hummus and salsa. my daughter loves the chicken parmigiana, so that's an easy go to when i don't feel like cooking. also, good wine/beer/goodies selections. that being said i'd choose madison market (one block over) for my fresh fruits/veggies everytime. read more

Sigh, I really like Trader Joe's. A lot actually. I like that they have parking available, but this place is teeny! Produce section, small... maybe they should minimize the floral section to expand the produce...? And a lot of things at other TJ's that aren't at this location like my favorite pasta sauce and tea. read more

It was a nice visit, they had almost everything I was looking for. Some ice cream was out of stock, but in hindsight it was probably for the best. Parking was fine, follow signs to the garage. It was late when I went, I drove right pass it. The staff were amazing, very helpful and friendly. Minus, perhaps, the security guard who stalked me the first few minutes I was shopping. Prices were excellent. Food is natural/organic. I would highly recommend. read more

5 star service!! My boyfriend, son and I went to this location last night for a change of scenery. We live in Alki and tired of the same grocery stores over there. What a surprise to see customer service at it's finest - especially on a Saturday night. We were kindly asked by at least 10 people throughout out shopping trip if we needed any help finding things. And not only that, but they would actually walk across the store to bring something back to us. I was floored! Not only were they helpful but several employees came over and entertained my 3 year old son sitting in our cart. Many parents know how hard it can be to keep a child's interest during a trip to the grocery store... not here, he was kept busy the whole time by employees stopping by to say 'hi' to him, and our checkstand clerk even gave him stickers! Special thanks to the check stand guy who overheard my son saying he was thirsty and walked all the way to the back of the store to get him some water, without us even having to ask him! And also thank you to David - who was also so kind in his interactions with us - if he reads this I want to tell him he should work with kids! Anyways, you have earned a new customer and I will drive the extra miles to go to this store again. Whatever you are doing keep doing it!!! read more

Belgian Chocolate pudding - better than Mom's. Wsabi mayonnaise - junk the others. Druid circle cookies. 19 cent bananas. Famous Grouse scotch. Why bother going anywhere else - except maybe for produce. Wonderful staff, who actually know their merchandise and help you make choices. But why do they keep moving locations around? The parking garage is absolutely the worst in North America. read more

I Love love the staff and this store so much I come here at least twice a week but the only down side is the parking "director" he seriously just causes traffic jams and makes parking so much more stressful!!! This is a neighborhood Trader Joe's, for those who walk, bike, bus or light rail. If you MUST drive, be sure to go during the first hour or last hour of the business day and try to park on the street rather than the very awkward parking structure. The employees in this Trader Joe's are the most friendly, helpful and full of personality of any TJ's I have visited in the U.S. Unfortunately this very high volume store is only becoming more packed since Capitol Hill is a very dense and dynamic real estate area with tons of residential buildings going up and no new grocery stores being built to accommodate the new residents. Walk, bike, bus, jog or light rail it to the Capitol Hill Trader Joe's if you must come to this one. read more

Once was enough. VERY limited selection, crowded with rude, holier-than-thou Seattlites with their "*I* shop at Trader Vic's" attitude. Every day garbage with a holier-than-thou price, and again, very limited selection. Nope. I want to shop without a load of hipster trash looking down their nose at your purchase because it's somehow not cool enough of a combo. read more
