Trader Joe's is an amazing place. They have all kinds of great products that are reasonably priced. The produce is sold by the piece I find I get much better deal there than the supermarkets. Trader Joe's publishes a friendly flyer, which is advertisement of all their products that they sell at their stores. Wherever I go, especially when I'm traveling ,I always look for a Trader Joe's because I know they have a wide range of quality products. They're much different than typical grocery store. There is really nothing negative to say when it comes to Trader Joe's because they always have what I need. For those nights where I am lazy to cook, their frozen packed foods always hit it right and it is good if my kids devour it, which they always do. For years, I've been captivated by the mystique surrounding shopping at Trader Joe's. Intrigued by the tales of their unique snacks and meals, I finally decided to visit on this day. Trader Joe's offers an impressive array of snacks and treats at incredibly affordable prices. Although it's smaller than I anticipated for a grocery store, its unique charm makes up for the size. The friendly cashiers work from small, personable stations, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. While I didn't particularly indulge in the sweets or meat-based products, I found some of the nuts (walnuts, pecans) and other items to be pleasantly affordable. They were significantly cheaper than similar items I've purchased elsewhere. Trader Joe's has immense potential. They offer a delightful fusion of foods and snacks that are truly one-of-a-kind. It's an excellent place to grab a quick bite for parties or meal prep. I'm definitely planning to return and explore more of what Trader Joe's has to offer. It's definitely worth checking out, especially this University Place-Tacoma location. This is the first time I've visited this particular location, but I'll be back. I'm grateful to people who bring their own bags, which is what I always do when I'm shopping. I keep at least two in the car, so please be mindful of that. read more

Trader Joe's is pretty much a five star experience across the board, but this was my first time at this location. I was in the area running errands and decided to stop in here instead of going to my usual location (Federal Way). I haven't been to University Place in a while and while it's always been a nice area, it's gotten quite the upgrade since I've been here last! The Trader Joe's is conveniently located in a strip mall type of area sharing a large parking lot with Starbucks, McDonald's, Safeway, and quite a few other spots. This location is set up interestingly but similar to other TJs. I feel like this one was a lot more of an open floor plan and it took me a couple strides around the store to find everything I needed. And as per usual, the employees at checkout were super kind. Always a great time when I get to stop in to a Trader Joe's! read more

I love Trader Joe's! Love that they carry their own brands and give the middle finger to Coke and Pepsi and all those national brands! Crew members are always super friendly and helpful. It is a well run company. The captain (store manager) is Phil and he has a crew of around 150 employees. My only complaints are the seasonal items run out too fast and the parking lot is way too small and hard to get in and out of. Won't stop me from shopping here, they just don't get 5 stars! read more

I swear I drop $100 just driving near this place lol. Way too easy to grab all of the tasty things you see walking through the aisles. I highly do not recommend shopping here while hungry, or on weekends. It gets really busy about 4pm. Staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything is always clean and well organized. The last review I left was 5 stars and I'm usually very impressed by the employees' good service. Today was different. I found organic beans on sale for 99 cents for a new chile recipe. They rang up more expensively and I told the checker who called a manager over. She checked and said the price was marked as I said, at 99 cents, but they would charge me the price the cash register rang up. I said it was not acceptable to post one price and charge me a higher price. She said it was their "procedure." Again, I said that was unacceptable and I would like to talk to a higher manager on principle, who eventually said to charge me the posted price. Not only did she insist, I think 5 times, that while it was their mistake they were going to charge me more than what was posted, she was totally rude and condescending! It was also totally ignorant. Why alienate a good customer over a small amount of money while acknowledging it was Trader Joe's mistake? Ignorant and arrogant is a bad combination. I think she only gave me the listed price because I clearly wasn't going to pay the higher price and a long line was forming behind me. There was one slender, polite blonde employee who helped me find an item and was very polite. She deserves credit. read more

I thoroughly enjoy coming here. I come here for specific items, but also look for new things of interest. I purchase cards $1!, fruit/vegetables, drinks, frozen foods like the indian food entrees, flowers - lots and lots of flowers and orchids! love their orchids! great gifts. They carry broccolini and Ezekiel bread which I can't find at most stores. I also love their hand sanitizer spray $1.99 come in two scents but I love the lavender one the most. During the holidays, they have special items and throughout the year they will have limited/exclusive items only available for a short period of time. If I can snag things up, I try! and then some things are gone like this Educated wine that I purchased before but they no longer carry. But I guess that is the fun of it. TJ's is everyone's favourite, funky grocery store! No sales ever, they keep stock limited to keep prices low. They source products from a wide range of suppliers and many of the products are listed under the Trader Joe's house brand. While it's not a one stop shop, it is *the* place to go for funky finds at really great prices and I like to stop at a TJ's first. This was my first time going into the University Place location. First impressions? Parking lot was horrible - just like all the other TJ's - but the store was very large; much larger than the one I usually go to. I like to actively pay attention to new products and keep a mental list of what I'm trying to get my hands on. Different stores have different things so it's worth checking around if you're looking for a special something, so I was definitely on the hunt for all the things when I came in here. I slowly went through the entire store and it was very clean with everything in proper order. I was able to find 5 (!!) new items that I haven't been able to source elsewhere, which basically guarantees I'll be back to this location again next time I can't find something. read more

Of course we had to stop by a Trader Joe's during our trip. My family and I were looking for 4 items specifically yet we only found one out of the four. And their next shipment won't arrive until mid March as we were told. They ran out of those dark chocolate Pringle crunch looking chips, waffle crackers, and no ube anything. I loaded up on the batons and cinnamon cookies as those are our favorites too. Tony checked out our items at the register and he was the sweetest! He gave my little one stickers. This was a first as I usually go to Trader Joe's with my husband. All of my children already ripped open everything I bought.. I had to get the Valentines rose water spray for myself since I had forgotten my moisturizer at home. Hopefully they will be stocked the next time I am in this area.. read more

A classic Trader Joe's that I love to shop at and regularly frequent. Like almost all Trader Joe's i've been to - be prepared for a lot of people inside and not much room to maneuver like a regular grocery store would have. Other than that I absolutely love coming here! All the employees are nice/helpful and the restrooms are always clean. If you're looking for something in particular that is limited or seasonal you can call and ask if they will hold it for to pick up which is super neat. I love trying out their new products and everything is well priced. My favorite time to come is early mornings and i've sometimes experienced a calm shopping experience with nearly no one else in the store besides the employees. My kids love coming here too for the stickers! Overall - an awesome Trader Joe's! read more

I really wanted to give this store a 5 stars, but having visited other locations, It makes me feel like this one is missing something. It is not as well stocked as i expected. Specially the non frozen items... for example i got an oat chocolate milk and there were only 2 left, same thing happened with some chips. Anyway... the store is well cleaned, well lit and visually beautiful. Following covid regulations. It took us about 15 minutes to enter. This location is my go-to because it's the closest one from where I live, and the only one in the Tacoma area. Although the store is smaller compared to the other Trader Joe's, there's plenty of parking space. It can get quite cramped but with COVID protocols in place, they are still limiting the number of people by having them fall in line to get in. Can't complain a lot about their products or customer service. Trader Joe's hasn't disappointed me in those aspects yet. The crew members are always present and willing to help. This is where I always get my food to bring to work, with their packed salads. Recommended: their tamales! Pair em with their hass avocados - can never go wrong. read more

I stand corrected. With the help of other Yelp account users and Steve I found the ready made case at Trader Joe's for food. And I must say I am very impressed. There were a lot more options there than I realized and Steve raved about the turkey salad sandwich so that was what I got since he has been here several times to buy it. I must say that sandwich was fantastic! Unlike some grocery stores where the freshness is really called into question when you get their ready made food that is not a problem here in the slightest. If you haven't been to Trader Joe's yet, STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING and go right now!! TJ's is the only place I enjoy grocery shopping. Every time I come here I find some fun new, trendy food that is absolutely delicious. Some of my staples include: 1. Everything but the bagel spice (great on avocado toast, cucumbers, you name it) 2. WINE. The only cheap wine I will drink! Some of these bottles are $4-6, what a steal. 3. Curry sauces - great for an easy dinner at home. 4. Mini avocados, perfect for one serving 5. Coconut flakes/chips 6. Coconut cold brew coffee (seasonal) - makes the best iced coffee 7. Gorgonzola crackers - careful these are dangerous 8. Cauliflower crust for pizza 9. How would I subsist without Trader Joe's? How do they manage to carry everything a person needs to cook juuust about any meal? Its a great place to try new things as any product you are dissatisfied with for any reason, they give you your cash back. You don't even have to flash your receipt or bring the item back. Hopefully those lacking integrity don't cheat them because it's so nice to have that kind of trust in today's world. That agreed upon, this is my favorite tjs in the Seattle area: 1) never a traffic issue to get there 2)always a parking spot close enough to a door 3)HUGE floor space..no cramped quarters in the aisles, ever. 4)GREAT helpful, hardworking, friendly crew who run about the place constantly stocking shelves, yet happily stop to help you find something or run in the back to check on deliveries, scan and pack at stealth speed....and they seem to have no turn-over, so management must be great. My only fragment of dissatisfaction is proximity to where I live in North Tacoma. Seems like they would do stellar sales if they were closer toward the North Tacoma core. I know I'd go much more often, preferring it over stops into Safeway for this and that in between the bigger TJs trips. they'd surely give Metropolitan Market and Proctor Safeway some competition, anyway. those places are always SOOOO packed! read more

I'm sad I have to drive so far to go to this TJ's but it's a nice one. It's in a very convenient location for other errands- there's a petstore, drugstore, and Safeway in the same parking lot. I dropped this review one star because I don't particularly care for the way they've chosen to layout the store. It's difficult to get through the store in an efficient manner because of the way that the aisles don't line up. This is especially noticeable with the COVID situation, which they're doing an excellent job of doing social distancing, but makes the line take forever because people literally can't get in and out on of the store. I also bought some flowers here, but they immediately died, which is frustrating. I will think twice before getting a plant here again, even though TJ has historically been one of the best places to do this. read more

Any City that I go to I try to make it a point to find a Trader Joe's so that I can bring stuff home for people in Hawaii, considering we don't have a Trader Joe's here. This place never disappoint. It seems like every single time I've ever gone into Trader Joe's, the staff are super friendly and helpful. This one was no exception. I wish I could bring a lot of stuff home with me, but I could only bring so much because of the space allowed on the plane. I was able to find some tasty treats to bring home and the staff was very helpful to let me know what was new, what was trying to, what was tasty and what kind of things people found good to travel with. When I was checking out they also help me by offering some memorabilia that I might be interested in which was very nice considering it was Mother's Day and I hadn't gotten any gifts at that point. I appreciate the stuff for being so friendly, and offering their services, and especially for going above and beyond your regular customer service. Ive been shopping at Trader Joe's in University Place Washington for years. This is the only store I know of where there are plenty of friendly and helpful staff to assist with questions or helping to find an item. The selection is varied, novel, and reasonably healthy, although some items seem to be a little high in sodium, The prices are competitive. The only reason I did not give five stars is that as University Place has grown, Trader Joe's has stayed a relatively small store. read more

Grayce was my checker and was extremely rude. I have never had a negative experience at a Trader Joe's before. I came first thing in the morning and can only assume she was just waking up or having an off day. She scoffed at how I was unloading my stroller and corrected me twice wanting me to put it into a red crate instead. I told her that loading it directly onto the wooden shelf was easiest since I had my hands full with baby and she said "okaaaaay" and dramatically pulled the red crate away. I'm not sure why she was so perturbed by this. And then when I said I didn't want a bag, she rolled her eyes at the bagger and said "I guess she doesn't want bags..." and the two of them raised their eyebrows together. It was really strange. The entire interaction was so curt and laced with attitude. I hope she has a better day and treats the rest of the employees with more respect. read more
