Is this owned by the Tacoma boys, cause it felt very much like that. I came because I was internet searching for best Washington pickle companies and found something called Britts pickles, which on their store locator, named Harbor greens as a place that I could purchase them. Unfortunately I could not find them, maybe they don't actually carry them, or maybe they were sold out, either way it was a mixed bag. The staff were very friendly and the clams we bought from the butcher counter were fresh and yummy, but the prices man.... Like the East Asia food market on 38th has them for 4.00 a pound, here they are 10... So more then double. The pickles I did buy to cure my craving were 9 dollars.... Even the boy scouts that were selling popcorn out front, 20 dollars a bag, FOR POPCORN.... I just don't believe in today's economy that people can afford to shop here. read more

We LOVE the ugly Produce section. And the pizzas!!! A long time ago, my mother in law bought a Christmas tree here and it died really quickly and the store wouldn't give her a refund. And it was a family joke that she would never step foot in Harbor Greens again. But then my husband brought her here - for pizza I think - and she gave up her grudge. Seriously best pizza in UP. Love the friendly workers here! Indoor seating with 2 sets of 4-seaters. There's an outdoor seating area as well. Nice, quiet, well lit on a Tuesday evening. I've heard a lot of good things about Harbor Greens over the years so I decided to go a bit out of my way to check it out. I'm really glad I did! The selection of oranges/mandarins is lacking right now and Harbor Greens filled that gap for me! I was able to pick up two different types of mandarins that I've never had before and I really enjoyed them! The produce section is a bit on the smaller size, but it packs a punch! I ended up going down almost every aisle in the store and this is a place I'll definitely come back to. Kinda reminds me of Tacoma Boys with a slightly different flavour. HG has a wide variety of store brand products and the ones I bought have worked out very well for me. I've heard for a lot of people that the sandwiches are really good. I didn't get one this time, but I did take the time to check out the counter and peek over people's shoulders. That entire section smells amazing and the sandwiches and pizza both look fantastic. Add in the fact that parking is easy and the cashier was friendly and efficient? UP is further south than I usually go, but I'm definitely willing to take the extra time to come to Harbor Greens! read more

Harbor Greens Harbor Greens is a fine foods grocery store with two locations; Gig Harbor and Tacoma. Chad Roy and Scott Teodoro opened their Gig Harbor store in 2007. They opened the Tacoma location at University Place in 2013. I make a point of visiting at least one if not both of these stores every time I visit Gig Harbor, which is at least twice a year. These photos are from my visit to the UP store in September 2022. In addition to carrying high quality, and hard-to-find products, Harbor Greens has the best produce I've ever seen. In the summer, 70% of their fruits and vegetables come from nearby farms. Harbor Greens has a popular deli where you can order hand crafted sandwiches, salads, and soups. The UP location has a larger dining area with seating for 28. Highly Recommended!!! read more

When we first started shopping here it was exciting, fresh produce, unique items, but the last few years it has fallen short of those qualities. 1. We purchased fresh flowers, or so we thought, when we put them in the vase the petals fell off. The management was reluctant to believe this. 2. We have enjoyed the deli sandwiches and salads, but they are very slow. So while waiting, I noticed a nice selection of cookies. I bought 5, costing close to $25.00. I got them home and found them to be stale and hard as a rock. I was not happy! I returned them, the deli manager found one that barely had soft center and said he thought they were fine and didn't off to replace them or compensate us. They have lost a very excellent customer. There are just too many other good places that stand behind their products. And I agree with other reviews their pizza is terrible! read more

One of my favorite grocery stores in Tacoma. Super cute, farmers market-ish feel with lots of flowers and plants in the entrance. They have a TON of local & organic produce, with pretty great prices. Their butcher shop has great marinaded meats & plenty of fish. I always check the weekly ad to see whats on sale ( get the marinated chicken thighs when you can - so GOOD). Great wine section, pre made salsas, and a pizza's. They also have a cute section with little gifts & a section of hard alcohol. You can find (almost) anything your heart &/or stomach desires at Harbor Greens. read more

Agree with the last post... customer service is TERRIBLE! Not sure if the managers here got the memo that being rude to people is not cool. Fine with me because I won't ever be shopping here again. I truly hope this place goes out of business. Being rude to people who are supporting a small and LOCAL chain... forget it. Also, I only drink "fizzy" water. My husband got his choice, a Dr. Pepper, but I can only get a good taste from canned or bottled mineral or sparkling water. Sigh, disappointed again. And cookies were bad, I'd rather had Oreos or Chips Ahoy. NOW, the store itself, is *****. Peop!e, even in Sandwiches, ARE GREAT!**** Also, we bought very good produce***** & found our favourite brand of soup on the shelf!! So, store is WONDERFUL*****! A local grocery store with local product! Seriously, this place is a gem and carries many of my favorites that i can not find at the regular grocery store. I discovered this place thanks to my parents! They carry everything from fresh produce to some of the best milk you'll ever have ( glass bottles with jersey cow milk) and they have a great meat and cheese selection as well and wine for days! Harbor Greens cater to the more health orientated customer offering many organic and even some vegan classics. The few times I've been here customer service has been excellent and sometimes you can find some awesome deals here. You can't beat 99/lb for honey crisp apples, best deal ever. They also have a selection of the Bitchin sauce which is hard to find, and the other day I found some of that ellenos yogurt they sell at the Pikes Place market, now it had a pretty little price tag on it but it's so delicious I had to pull a YOLO and get it. Coming here is truly a reward, you never know what goodies you'll leave with. read more

Not happy, Employee was very rude to my spouse. He would not help her and directed her to a basket of culled vegetables I stead of getting out of her way and allowing her to reach for the item he was refilling and culling. The employee was a tall white guy with long hair. We have been going to HG ever since it has opened here. Our daughter has had issues with same employee. Too bad! read more

What a cute store! They have a nice middle-of-the-road selection for people who might shop at other local produce-heavy markets and natural markets. There's more here than you'll find at a produce-only place and less than a conventional grocery store, hitting the sweet spot for a mid-week pick up to make dinner a little less boring. A nice selection of seasonal produce, a meat counter with a few unusual cuts at a time to go with the standard stuff, and a pretty decent cheese selection. Some later hours might be nice and the area around the registers is a tad crowded. Worth a stop! read more

I haven't done much shopping here but I don't think it's much different than the other higher end markets. What I do love about this place though, are their starter vegetable and herb plants you can buy. I've purchased 3 tomato plants at the start of summer, and all three are doing really well. Bought lettuce, and some herbs and also are healthy and doing well! read more

This place is fantastic. The only place I can find alfalfa sprouts! It's down the street from Whole (Paycheck) Foods in UP which I was worried, but I don't think I need to worry. I have seen H. Greens quite busy, their prices are very reasonable, the veggies quality is fantastic, a big selection of beverages and the workers are super friendly and helpful. Got a couple a pizzas there a they are really good. H. Greens will accommodate whatever you want to do with your pie. Very recommended store. read more

Today, 9/9/22 6:00pm Beyond poor customer service. A snippy deli pizza girl told me "don't give me attitude...its too busy" because I questioned the base on my gluten free pizza...bacon chicken ranch as it had all red sauce chicken and cheese...no ranch. She offered to add ranch. I only know this to be a white pizza. I never raised my voice...I asked for a manager...I described what she said...he told me to fill out the form they will make it again...but never I'm sorry...he began to walk away. I told him this was poor customer service. I said the first thing one says to a customer is 'I'm sorry'...he wasn't interested and he told me "GET OUT OF MY STORE AND DON'T EVER COME BACK AGAIN!" Wow..never fear...I won't be back. I usually shop in Gig Harbor spending several hundred dollars a month. I usually pre order ahead for gluten free pick up in GH but occasionally call to pick up in UP on short notice. Everyone has always been so nice....not today. Mrs. Gold will not be a Harbor Greens customer ever again. read more

Harbor Greens is owned and operated by two local families and has two locations: one in Gig Harbor and the other in University Place. This review is for the University Place location. This little gem of a grocery store covers all the basics you might need. The real gem is the meat and sea food department. They have a really great selection and some cool stuff you can't find many other places! The veggies looked awesome! The staff was really friendly! The isle are really narrow and they had so many employees with restocking at once it's almost like impossible to shop with a shopping cart and get around. I know this is really pathetic but I had to leave in the middle of my shopping because I wasn't able to get down any isle because of all the employees stocking and not giving customers any room kind of gave me an anxiety attack and just had to get out of there! : ( so if anyone is claustrophobic I would avoid this place, i'll probably just stick with Whole Foods in the future read more
