Everything was fine (except the German chocolate brownie - it was an odd consistency and flavor). They do have a lot of options. The blueberry lemon danish was particularly yummy. Husband liked the plain fry donuts. The cookies (chocolate chip and date) were fine. Nothing really negative about the place. Service was friendly.

The blueberry Bismarck's are . Haven't had a bad pastry yet. They close at 1 or 2. Get there early.

While searching for a baker for our wedding, I got a chance to try and meet a few bakers from the…read morebridal show in Charlevoix. Because there were so many, I ended up getting a couple of the bakers confused. But regardless, I made an appointment for my fiancé (ATT) and I to head up north for a couple tasting appointments. Again, to my surprise, this location was at the baker's home, which was gorgeous! It sat behind a lake and we entered through the back door that led straight into the kitchen. You could definitely tell that this baker knew what she was doing because everything was laid out beautifully and organized. We had one of the last appointments and thought we would be sitting one-on-one with the baker, but noticed it was more like a tasting buffet, where we got to mix and match different flavor cakes and frostings, which was nice because we could talk about each one in private. There was a couple girls assisting the couples and available for any questions we had and even had several binders full of past wedding/celebration cakes. My personal favorite was the vanilla bean cake but had a hard time choosing a frosting. Personally, the frosting was a bit too sweet for me. We ended up not going with BED for our wedding, but definitely thought the price was similar to the bakers around northern Michigan. I believe there was an minimum of $250 that we had to spend, especially because it was going to be delivered to Castle Farms in Charlevoix, which isn't bad. But we ended up going with a baker in SE Michigan for $150 for the same amount of cake/cupcakes for 50-60 people.

Excellent quality and price! Ordered a two tier (9 inch, 6 inch, for 25-30 people) wedding cake for…read moreour reception on Mackinac Island. The cake and delivery fee were very reasonable, and the vanilla with vanilla bean frosting cake was so delicious (my mom kept ravings about it days after). The buttercream frosting was exactly to my specification. Highly recommend.

Okay Brennan's, I see you!…read more From the outside, Brennan's is pretty unassuming, but also incredibly cute. The best way I can describe it is modern, traditional, and farmhouse-inspired all at the same time. They have this beautiful ironwork sign out front with their name on it, and it immediately caught my attention. The real star of my visit, though, was Emerson. She was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain everything they had to offer and gave me plenty of space to look over the menu before ordering. I ordered the Pigeon River Latte and wasn't even thinking about the milk situation. Emerson asked if I wanted whole milk, which immediately reminded me that I am lactose intolerant and that choice would have ended my day very badly . That extra step showed a level of attentiveness that you don't always find. She wasn't just taking an order. She was actually thinking about the customer in front of her, and that deserves recognition. Emerson also explained that most of their menu items, along with many of the products in their refrigerator cases, are locally sourced. The only exception is the burritos. I absolutely love that. Since I'm also a kombucha girlie, I grabbed the "Bumble Blossom Jasmine" and the "Be Still" from Bailey's Farms to try. Both were great choices. The space itself was clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Parking was easy to find right out front. To be fair, I arrived around 8:00 a.m. right when they opened, so if parking had been difficult, I probably would have been concerned lol. Another detail I appreciated was finding resources in the restroom related to women's safety. It's a small thing, but it showed me that they care about creating a safe environment for their customers. I was also excited to learn that they offer delivery. Since I'm in town working with my team, and many of us are up and moving well before 6:30 a.m., knowing they're open at 6:00 a.m. on weekdays and can deliver is a huge plus. Overall, I highly recommend Brennan's. If you find yourself in Gaylord, Michigan, give them a shot. They earned every bit of this 10 out of 10.
