We happened upon Brennan's completely by accident after getting out of the car to check out a mural. We stopped in for coffee, started chatting with the owner, and she suggested that we go check out another mural nearby. So obviously we did. That mural led us to THREE more, and suddenly what had started as simply stopping to look at some art turned into this completely unplanned, ridiculously fun date exploring murals and places we never would have found otherwise. And the coffee was so good that what was supposed to be a random stop has now turned into us coming back every morning since. The drinks are fantastic, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the kind of local hospitality where someone takes the time to say, "Hey, if you liked that, you should go see this..." is exactly what makes discovering a small business so special. Brennan's didn't just become part of our date they helped create the date. Five stars for the coffee, the kindness, and for accidentally sending us on one of our favorite spontaneous adventures.

You order at the counter that is directly in front of you, and then they serve the drinks at the end of the counter. Do be mindful though of what you ordered as they didn't take names and called out orders instead. If it is busy (which it was when we visited) you also have to keep on top of the orders as often people mistakenly take an order. They are gracious about making another one for you, but it helps everyone to keep your ears open for your original order. My latte was full of flavor and not too bitter but did need a bit of sugar to make it sweet enough for me. They do have alternative mills but run out quickly so if you want something on a holiday or busy weekend I suggest you go early. Their teas are also quite good as my husband can contest, so if you want to try a tea they have several good options. I appreciated that they tried to fix the issue, but I don't think cake pops should be served frozen in the first place. First, my wife grew up in Dearborn, and is, thus, well acquainted with Detroit pizza. So, when we were in town on Friday - living about 30 miles north - we decided to try out the Corktown Pizza restaurant. It was our first visit, but it will definitely NOT be our last. In fact, Corktown Pizza is now our go-to local restaurant for pizza. Now, to the promised review. There is not a whole lot to say about the ambiance. The restaurant has a somewhat spartan aura to it which we really enjoyed. We were able to concentrate and focus on our meal, and not on the room. The BEST part of the ambience was that the dining area was relatively quiet, allowing us to enjoy our meal and talk to each other without being overwhelmed by noise, which is the total opposite of Buffalo Wild Wings which shares the building, where you have to yell to be heard by the people sitting at your table. Now as to the food. The pizza was ABSOLUTELY the BEST pizza that I have EVER had - and I am 75 years of age, and have always enjoyed pizza. I might have had a pizza at some point that was as good as the Corktown Pizza, but I have DEFINITELY NEVER had a pizza that was better. They have several types of pizza on the menu - thick crust, thin crust, Detroit style, etc. I got the Detroit pizza and my wife got the thick crust, and both were equally good. Any flavor for five dollars. There were no other customers in the ice cream side, but in the marathon station there's a little store so of course my sister had to check that out because she's a shopaholic. The ice cream shop was quiet, but had a faint essence of rock music, which is appreciated. So we got the five scoops of ice cream and it was like getting a reward. There is almost more than I could handle, but she found out that she absolutely hates blue moon ice cream. So she actually got a fifth scoop well blue moon is my favorite, the main thing she doesn't like. Is that your lips, tongue and your teeth turn blue but it's already back to normal for me. They give you a ticket and you pay up front with anything else you grabbed. The pizzas were freshly made and the kids loved their slices. There is also a little gift shop in the back corner as well as a full liquor/wine section. A massive ice cream cooler was the perfect dessert for after lunch as we walked to the playground nearby. The shop was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely stop in again.

We recently spent some time on Lake Walloon and visited Barrel Back Restaurant and this General Store, as well as the park nextdoor. This place now offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, grocery items, Michigan brands, apparel, houseware stuff, and so much more. The staff is friendly and the store is huge and beautiful! Prices are reasonable too... On our recent visits, we purchased some beverages, sandwiches and Better Made chips too. (While in Michigan, amiright?!) If you find yourself in the area, don't miss a visit to this General Store -- even if you think you don't need anything, you'll find something to purchase, guaranteed!
