She was SO nice, respectful, and knowledgeable - I was completely blown away by her as a good human being. I've gotten so used to bad behavior being the norm and it was so refreshing to meet her. She told us about the farm, farmers, and the strawberries were delicious. The stand was nicely stocked with a good variety. We walked around the grounds after and it was so beautiful and so many veggies, flowers, and herbs were flourishing. Looking forward to come back to pick some goodies.

The strawberry rows were flanked by lovely sunflower and flower rows. The whole farm is a lovely refreshing sight from the city scene, with the big open blue sky and hills in the distance, and cute farm aesthetics everywhere, like the rusty old pickup truck that resembles Tow Mater (from Pixar's Cars movie) behind the bright purple flowers in front, and wooden wagons and the wood painted structures of the store and bathrooms. It's nicely fenced in off the main highway but there's a small road between the highway and farm so it's quiet and you can't even tell that the highway is there. There were SO many gorgeously red strawberries everywhere! We picked nearly two boxes full, they provide large cardboard boxes with the little green plastic cartons inside. So enjoyable to spend time picking in such clean, well kept rows of fruit. The store where you pay for the fruit and entrance fees also sells a variety of vegetables and preserves and various other rustic things. The woman tending the store was sweet and gave us so many tips on keeping and washing and preparing the strawberries. We couldn't stop eating them ever since we got home. I just made strawberry tarts with them and they are so sweet and delicious. So excited to come back in future years! Two boxes is not enough of glorious springtime-summery sweetness!

The folks hosting tour members had equipment on display, and various team members talking with the guests, explaining about their growing techniques. They had a water truck distributing a sprinkling on the driveway and parking area to keep the dust down. That was really considerate. My impression was, "All schools should take their students on field trips so that suburban / urban kids can learn that their food doesn't just come from the grocery store." The vibe at Good Farms lent itself to that kind of teaching experience. Hooray for their strawberry and blueberry crops!

While on the Ventura County Farm Day self-guided tour yesterday, as we pulled up to their property, all I could say was, "Wow!". It's a major operation, and clearly a high-tech one. Videos of their usage of solar panels and water-conserving technology online help explain the operation. During Farm Day, inside tours were offered, but all the spots were filled. Still, they had bins of tomatoes available to take home for a donation. They also presented at least a dozen free recipe cards for free featuring - tomatoes! Most all looked yummy. Great hospitality from Houweling's. I had no idea that this kind of large-scale growing operation existed nearby. Viva Ventura County tomatoes!

The Oxnard store is absolutely the worst…read more When a Ryobi Rep suggests looking up product info on you tube (seriously true) and their "customer service desk" is appalling and not 1 employee could direct me to the correct isle (plus side, I got my 10k steps in hunting down items on my own!) At the start, I was bringing in an exchange I had delivered, so no receipt but was ready with my purchase history. I entered the store at customer service I had to wait for the employee to be done texting on his phone to let him know I was bringing the item in, so they didn't think I was trying to steal something. He waved me off and said "yeah, yeah, fine" but never looked up from his phone. I am giving away my extensive Ryobi collection and going back to Dewalt, just so I never have to step in HD again This particular HD is over the top bad.
