So String Lights LA installed back yard string lights for me about 2 1/2 years ago. My experience with them was stellar and we love our lights. They have been perfect and I have only ever needed to change one bulb. But I opened the back door a couple of days ago and two of the strings had fallen -- the hook holding them to the house had pulled out of the stucco. I immediately called and Nick was amazing. He asked for a couple of pictures of what had happened and had someone out here today (48 hrs later) to fix it. Alex texted with an accurate ETA and the job got done perfectly. Don't even waste your time with this company. I contacted string lights LA for an estimate on outdoor lights in my backyard. I sent photos of my yard as well as photos of what I was looking for and they responded that it was something they could install. They sent a technician to my house for an estimate. He told me they were doing a similar job and that it would be no problem. We agreed on a price and date. I will say communication was not great, the day before I even called to confirm that they were coming because I hadn't heard anything from them. However, on the day of installation two installers arrive to my house. They were there for a couple of hours before telling me that they couldn't do the job. I was told that they misjudged the size of my trees and it wasn't something they were capable of completing. At this point I had spent much time through emails, calls and now meetings at my house just to find out they weren't capable of doing the job. I asked the installer if he could let me know what kind of lights he was using for the job so I could see if someone else could do them. He said no problem he would send them to me. I've contacted him a couple times since and I've never heard a word back. Honestly, this company is completely unprofessional. Also I did question that in my estimate then installer was just planning to plug into an extension cord I had running through the yard. This seemed a little weird to me but they had such good reviews that I believe they knew what they were doing. Now I wonder if that was even something that would have been safe. read more

In short: professional, honest, and excellent attention to detail. If you walk around LA, you will see a lot of string light installations. Many of them are not very good: sloppy, disorganized, and messy-looking. That was the system String Lights LA replaced. They designed a new system that worked for my space, and then quickly redesigned and improved it onsite when I introduced new concerns. They took their time and did it right, precisely locating each line and setting up the system to look very clean. I'm sure you can find cheaper options, but this was a welcome case of getting our money's worth. read more

I'm so happy that this company exists! I absolutely love string lights and I always wanted and planned to add to my back patio but while it seemed like something that could potentially be DIY, the prospect of that sounded really intimidating to me. I searched for companies that install string lights but this is the first (and only) one that I found in LA that specializes in them. A lot of people hire electricians who do it as a side job, but they really don't have the eye for design or expertise of a company that does this every day. I definitely didn't know what to expect in terms of pricing, and was initially a little floored by how expensive it would be (since you can buy lights on Amazon for like $50) but after watching 2 men work for close to 11 hours installing these lights, it's clear to me that what you are paying for are labor costs that actually quite reasonable given the expertise and professionalism that you are receiving. The lights themselves while "commercial grade" probably aren't that much different than what you order on Amazon, but they custom fit them so that you don't have extra lights hanging off the side. They are also able to install a wireless adapter so that you can control the lights from your phone and even put them on schedules. Jonathan came by for the free estimate and was great. Initially I wanted lights over the pool but due to safety they would need to be low voltage lights that are much more expensive (like double) and would not be dimmable. He offered me an alternate design plan, lighting the two different outdoor areas that I have separately, and hanging the lights from trees in the yard. The end product is STUNNING and I honestly like the design better than what I was originally thinking. I even ended up getting lights installed in a third, less used area behind my pool house because Jonathan was able to get me a volume discount. Bottom line: you pay for what you get, and here what you get it is a professionally and beautifully done end product. read more

We had been looking to get string lights installed on our rooftop deck for a few years and finally pulled the trigger. I got quotes from some local electricians and String Lights LA. All aspects including first contact, estimate and installation were completed with the utmost professionalism. They took my instructions ("can you move that one higher?" "Can bring it back down? Then, after looking at it for a few days, we wanted one of the globes moved and they came back within 3 days to make the changes. Truly the best in the business. Exceptional service and quality of work is hard to come by these days. Jonathan and Nick really took their time on this and nailed it. This was the finisher to our remodel and it definitely made a huge difference, especially when hosting events/parties in our back yard at night. We got this done about 18 months ago and everything has been working great with no issues at all. Last weekend one of our pole partially came down due to the high winds with one of the brackets popping off our retaining wall. I reach out to the team earlier in the week about it and they came out and address the issue with no hesitation or pushback. This company bid my job and set their price for 5 string lights at almost $7000. I purchased the lights on Amazon and did it myself for about $450. I guess they were just bidding high since most of the other estimates on yelp say $1500 etc. I definitely would look around. We reached out to this team, maybe less than a week ago and secured an appointment for yesterday. I was very happy with the recommendations for design. They gave two excellent options, and after our decision, I was pleased to find out they had a cancellation for installation and were able to fill our order today. That was a 24 hour turnaround from the recommendation to completion of the job. I understand that during the holidays I get very busy and may not be as fast or responsive because of the market, however, my experience with this professional company was stellar.
