Service was awful.. could not get refills and the check never came, had to go to register and get them to hunt for it. The food was simple put inedible. Chicken fried steak was a mushy hamburger with soggy breading. Appetizer cheese dip was flavorless. When mentioned to the staff we got a curt sorry and nothing else...they could not have cared less. OK, here's the CliffsNotes in case you prefer it short and sweet: service, 3 stars, Iced tea ($2) 4 stars. I had the "two for tea" combo ($6) with broccoli & cheese soup, 4 stars, and smoked turkey sandwich, 2 stars. For desert (the sweet! :-D ) I had coconut cream pie ($4) 4 stars and pecan cream pie ($4) 4 stars. The Good: The Iced tea tasted fresh and had good flavor. The broccoli cheese soup was a pleasant surprise, although I generally like this soup I was surprised at all the flavors I was greeted with when I tried their version. I can only assume they use a higher quality cheese than most because it didn't taste like seasoning as much as some really good, flavorful cheese. In addition to this, the broccoli still had a nice firm texture instead of the all too common soft green lumps I've often had in broccoli cheese soup. The coconut cream pie had a good flavor and didn't rely on just being overly sweet. Despite this I do have two minor criticisms, for the price I thought the piece was a little small and the crust was a little too salty. Instead of being a nice contrast to the sweet flavors from the filling, it became a little distracting. Overall, it was better then the typical coconut cream but fell just a little short of being exceptional. The pecan cream pie suffered from the same two deficiencies as the coconut cream, small for the price and a slightly over salted crust but I still enjoyed it. I almost got the regular pecan pie but thought I can get that almost anywhere but I don't remember if or when I've seen a pecan cream before. I don't know if there was actually butterscotch in this pie of if it was the combination of ingredients that gave it the flavor but I definitely got some butterscotch flavors with this pie. Combine that with the pecans and it made for a tasty pie. The Bad: The line at checkout was long but the place was packed, my problem was with how long it took the person at the register to ring up a customer in front of me. She seemed a little confused about what to charge them, then she got flustered as the line started to stack up and she apparently made a couple failed attempts to figure it out. Once she went and got, what I assume was the manager (if not owner), and he took over the register the line seemed to start moving at a pretty good clip as he rushed to get everyone taken care of. One thing I was a little disappointed in (but not really surprised by), they go to the trouble of incorporating tea into their name but only serve bagged tea. While they have a fairly broad selection of teas, I had hoped a place with the name Tea-Licious might have a couple loose leaf teas as well, I know it's not as convenient as the bagged stuff but damn, it's worth it. (sorry, I'm a bit of a tea snob) The Indifferent: For the most part the service was pretty good, my order was taken promptly and came pretty quickly BUT instead of taking away the dishes as I finished she let them pile up on the table until I ordered the second slice of pie. I don't think this really would have bothered me at all except I was sitting at a small table and it got a little crowded with the empty dishes being left behind. the other problem was on at least one stop she started to walk away without offering to refill my empty tea so I had to get her attention as she tried to move on to her next table and ask for a refill. In her defense, shortly after I got there the place filled up to capacity so she was busy but then I guess that is what separates the decent wait staff from the really good wait staff. The smoked turkey sandwich was nothing special, the lettuce was fresh and the tomato ripe and the sandwich meat was OK but there just wasn't anything to set it apart from one I might make at home except for the bread. The bread was really good, I suspect they either make it there or get it from a local bakery. Will I come back? Yes, their burgers looked impressive. If they are as good as they looked and I had ordered one I suspect this might have been a 4 star review. Will I be anxiously looking forward to my next visit? No, while my visit was "A-OK" my experience wasn't so memorable or special that I'll be itching to get back here as soon as possible. read more

I had originally tried to order the chicken and dumplings, when waitress said they no longer serve that anymore. So why is it still on the menu??? I ordered the "infamous" chicken pot pie. When it arrived it had a wonderful golden brown crust on top. Once I broke the crust I was extremely disappointed...... Extremely watery, and vegetables and what chicken was there had ZERO seasoning. Even after adding a tremendous amount on peppercorn and sea salt provided at table, it was still inedible. This made a $0.99 Banquet Chicken Pot Pie seem like a 5 star meal. After my tea glass had been empty for at least 15min when the restaurant was at 40% capacity, the waitress finally came back. After I explained how disappointed I was with the inedible meal, instead of trying to remedy the problem.... She simply said, "Huh, that's one of our more popular items." Then walked off..... I'm not happy and I strongly urge anyone reading this to avoid this restaurant. read more

We stopped here for dinner, on the recommendation of a business owner in Burnet. We had a chicken quesadilla for an appetizer, which was very good, served with salsa and sour cream, as described on the menu, but it also came with avocado slices, which was a nice surprise! Husband had the 6oz. Rib eye, which came with a large, loaded bake potato, and salad. I also had the pea soup, and thought it would be split pea, but it was a cream based pea soup with ham (good, but I don't usually order cream soups, my mistake in not asking). All our food was good, the beer was served in chilled mugs (great). We had to have a box to take home leftovers. Trace, the owner, stopped by our table to talk with us, very nice guy. We enjoyed our meal, and the music, as it happened to be Karaoke night I am sure we'll return to eat here again! read more

Had lunch here this weekend after the ride on the train from Austin. Be prepared that everyone from the train will be competing to eat at local restaurants after the train ride. We had a 20 minute wait, but it was okay - there was an open air market across from the restaurant and we were able to spend our 20 minutes there. Tea-Licious, soon to be renamed Cattle Grill or similar, is a fantastic find. The restaurant is clean and well-lit. I dined on a Weds night. Service was prompt. Most importantly,the food was delicious. My meal consisted of chicken pot pie with a side of mashed potatoes with an appetizer of quesadillas. I all honesty, there is no way to improve the dishes. The proprietor, Trace (Tres?), introduced himself and explained that most of the recipes originated on his wife's side of the family. He is a lucky man to have a wife who can cook like this. Be aware that on weekends busloads of patrons arrive due to the train from Cedar Park that terminates in Burnet. So, Trace, tells me, service can be slow during those periods. Three different members of the staff came by our table about thirty minutes into the wait saying food will be right out. Better than expected place in Burnet (we ate here at the halfway point of an Austin Steam Train run from Cedar Park). Stopped in to see John Arthur Martinez perform. I believe he is there most Tuesday evenings. We were surprised by how good the food was. We enjoyed a pot pie, a steak with Blue cheese, spinach dip, Mac & cheese and a loaded potato. Then we had peach cobbler and chocolate cream pie. My favorites were the Mac & cheese, the salad (with blue cheese dressing), the pot pie and loaded baked potato. The steak was good, I just wish the blue cheese had been a little melted rather than just placed on top. But, there was plenty of it and I love blue cheese, so I was happy. The dessert was very good. We usually don't order desserts, or eat many sweets, so the peach cobbler was a little too sweet for me. But it would have been perfect for my family members who have a sweet tooth. Despite the sweetness, the flavor was very good and I loved hat it had lots of crust - my favorite. We've seen John Arthur perform several times in different locations and I've never seen a crowd that seemed as appreciative and enthusiastic as this crowd was. It was a fun evening. read more

I have been coming here for years and it has finally got me hooked, especially on the Bourbon Chicken!!!! I think about that meal when I am working around the house! It has some type of sweet rice mixture underneath the chicken breast.. SO GOOD!!!! My mom and I came by today, we wanted to give this place a second chance. Even though this place was packed, Trace quickly got us a table, and the waitress apologized for the wait. We were so excited about going here after the rave review in Texas Highway magazine. We rode the train and made a bee line for Trailblazer with hungry kiddos in tow. We were seated promptly and greeted with smiles. An hour after placing our order with our server, we were told they accidentally gave some of our food to other customers. The server apologized mildly and asked if I wanted her to make me another one or just leave it off. I was appalled at her approach. At a place with such a standing, I would have expected more empathy and offering at least something comped after waiting for an hour only to have our good given away to other customers. Frustrated, we decided to just leave as we only had an hour left before the train left and had not seen any of Burnet other than the back of Trailblazer's. The owner approached us a bit aggressively telling us our order had only been placed 35 minutes prior and we should have made reservations. He made no effort to apologize or rectify the situation, only furthering our frustrations with his attitude which eventually made our nine year old cry because of how rude he was. The facts were, we had been there an hour and placed our order 45 minutes before the server came out explaining what happened to our food. She put it in late and as it turned out, she put in the wrong order. It was really disappointing and certainly not worth another visit. My wife and I love this place. Great decor, great food and people. My wife and I drive here once a month or more to eat from Cedar Park. Our favorites are the fried mushrooms, philly cheese steak, avocado chicken, chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Poor service. Waited over ten minutes for a person to take drink order. Food can 45 minutes after that. (When I asked where's the food the girl said yeah it will out soon.). My family and I have been here quite a bit. We have tried the frito pie, which I thought was good. The portion was huge!! My husband has tried the chicken pot pie. He said it was a bit too dry for his taste but it looked good to me. I don't like runny soupy filling in.a pot pie. My husband really likes their chef salad and the portion is HUGE!! We have had their sandwiches and love them. Havent tried dessert yet or soups yet. Plan to keep trying different items on their menu. Wow! I have read some of the reviews and I am not sure why they are so negative. We had an amazing experience and the food was delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and understood my husband's sense of humor. He tends to pick on wait staff telling them he ordered something else when they deliver the correct dish and I let them off the hook by saying, "He is just kidding".
