Where do I even begin to describe what an amazing experience I had at Grace Cottage Hospital?…read more From the moment I walked in the ER door, I felt at ease, even though I was quite anxious. Once I filled out paperwork, I was immediately brought into the emergency area, where I met the nurses, and soon after that the P.A. on call that evening, all of whom were referred to on a first-name basis (who does that in a hospital emergency room?). Let me just say it was a bit surreal - but in the best way possible - that I immediately felt at home, and at ease, even though I was going through an episode. I still get choked up thinking about the amazing, caring experience I had there. When I left, I literally gave hugs to the two nurses and P.A. that tended to me (Molly, Chris and Josh - you all freakin' rock, man), and I felt like I had made friends for life in a little over 3 hours (and next time I'm up your way I'm gonna take you all out to dinner to show my gratitude!) After getting through all of this, it gives me hope that there are still good, kind, caring people out there in this world, and that healthcare *can* be a good experience when people love their jobs and where they work. Please keep on doing what you do at Grace Cottage Hospital, because in my opinion, you are absolutely second to none. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!

This was supposed to be the best care for my father after a fall. It was awful. They have signs…read moreeverywhere saying they want to involve family. They shut us out because my father had too many daughters. I do have to give a special shoutout to Shyla who advocated for him and was so amazingly kind. The doctors were incongruent week after week. His pain was dismissed. He lost almost 20 pounds in the first week and recorded as lost at the previous hospital, which was completely untrue. By the time he left he was not eating. They blamed everything on the patient and did little investigating. The nurse Christine should retire or find a new profession. While most of the staff was dismissive, she was downright mean. I found him asleep with his face in his dinner tray. He was afraid to drink because the staff never showed up in time to get him to the bathroom. Issues were reported to nursing staff but never relayed to the doctors. After several weeks of "rehab and care" my father died, still unable to move much or eat at all less than 2 months after discharge. If this is the best we can offer, healthcare is truly an abomination.

Lack of any wound care other than 3 bandaids tossed on over dried blood....Maiming me for life…read more Causing subsequent visits to another er. Wound cultures, 2 checks for sepsis, multiple iv antibiotics, shots of steroids and antibiotics, many many oral antibiotics, 2 long courses of steroids, 2 organisms ate thru my tissue. Cellulitis added to a 3rd skin infection. Multiple pcp visits. Multiple emergency on call calls. Dozens of portal messages. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY OR RESPONSE TO A COMPLAINT FILED 2 MONTHS AGO. Never even checked for a concussion. Dr Looked over my head and said "doesn't need stitches" and walked out. Back to say "ct was normal, give her a bandage and a cab voucher and have her go wait in the waiting room" FROM THE DOORWAY. Never gave concussion evaluation (which I had one and was diagnosed in Fairview) Despicable, stigmatic behavior from a medical doctor at a hospital, that houses a medical detox, in a town, full of addicts and alcoholics, at a time in the world where you can't throw a stone and not hit someone that has never been personally affected by addiction in some way. And then to not even offer an apology, let alone anything else, like a freaking response to my complaint, makes me sick.
