I should have listened to my instinct; when we were arranging the stay I was told they do not accept credit cards because too many people have tried to dispute the charges; now I know why!
To begin the trailside condo is advertised as a ski in/ski out, but that isn't a very accurate description and the photos of the unit are also very misleading. For you to access the slopes you have to schlep your things across a parking lot and up a un-groomed hill to the trail. The hill has snow and ice and some stones that help to guide your way, but they are not cleared or salted and therefore very slippery to ascend. Being that we are used a true back door ski on/off experience I chose to overlook this and assume I was being just a bit picky. Upon seeing the condos and noticing that it is a very poorly maintained building I was hoping that the inside wouldn't reflect the outside, after all the photos in the advertisement illustrated a very nice and spacious unit. To our dismay the place is very dated, the carpets were old and stretched out with ripples and stains. I did not want to take my shoes off and allow my bare feet or even socks touching the floors. Gross! The kitchen wasn't much better with a sloppy coat of white paint on the cabinets; it looked like it was covering something that hadn't been cleaned in years. Yuck! I don't even think it was paint, but only primer and they never got around to completing the project.
As for ambiance... there is NONE! The heat is rigged I so that it runs the fireplace. In other words, if you set the thermostat to 67 the fireplace shuts itself off once it reaches 67. Basically, there is no use of the fireplace unless you are to keep the heat set very high at all times. There are also fake fireplaces plugged into outlets in each room like a cheap motel.
Lastly, I opened the window as I prefer fresh air and EVERY TIME that window was open I would get an email, text or phone call; one of the texts was a bit threatening and made me feel that they were going to hold my security deposit. If this wasn't bad enough each morning someone came and marched through (with sloppy shoes) to "maintain the hot tub". I felt like we were being watched the entire stay. I will NEVER rent from here again. Killington is a great ski mountain, but as far as renting from Kevin and Betsey- I do NOT recommend it! read more
