The gym is DARK. Black floors, black ceilings, mostly black walls. Then add dim lighting. It wasn't always like this. It used to be fairly bright and cheerful. I'm not sure what vibe they're going for here. But it's just strange. Even the locker rooms are dark. Add to this the fact that they mostly play house or techno music. It's almost like you're inside of a nightclub. Not a dealbreaker by any means. The gym is absolutely huge. One of the larger planet fitness locations I have been to. It's spread out by very nicely and they have more equipment and machines than the typical planet fitness gym as far as I can tell. The place is very clean and appears to be well managed. All the equipment I used work properly. Of course they have long gotten rid of Olympic weights and bench presses and all that. But there's still a wide variety of weights and machines to fit just about any work out. The dumbbells top out at 75 pounds which is pretty typical for planet fitness. For the price, very hard to be beat. And overall, it's a really good location.

The weight room is small but they have a good variety of free weights. I've gone at many different times, early in the mornings, later in the evening, and in late afternoon. I know that another local "gym" calls themselves the judgement-free zone, but this Y is truly a comfortable place to work out. I've had nothing but positive interactions with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds - both staff and members - in the front desk area, in the weight room, cardio room and pool area, and in the locker room. I was searching to see if there were any deals right now because I had a membership for about 4 months last year and I was really surprised to see the negative reviews on here and I don't think they're warranted. If you want a reasonably priced facility with many different services to help you stay in shape, this is a great local spot for folks in the pioneer valley.

The teachers are motivating, the classes are inclusive of all body types and abilities, and everyone is kind. The goal is to get stronger - not hotter, skinnier, etc., which I really, really appreciate. The customer service is also fantastic! I have had some issues with my knee and as such have had to stop going recently. The customer service team worked with me to pause my account indefinitely so that by the time I come back, I won't be paying any additional fees or increased payments. They respond promptly to concerns, and are always apologetic if something goes wrong. I've never been worried about feeling heard with them. The location itself is very convenient, and has great hours. They have classes ranging from 6am to the evening, which I really appreciate! It's such a cute place, and is always sparkling clean. AWFUL GYM! Outdated dangerous equipment. Management fires staff member who advocate for better…read moresafety and fat shame gym goers!! An instructor told the gym owner that people were getting hurt on the old spin bikes (the clip came off of one and a woman hurt her ankle) His response? The people taking the classes have no business being there since they're so fat. And that overweight people shouldn't be working out. Then he FIRED that instructor with no warning!!! I do not support a gym that fat shames and that ruined a woman's livelihood because she advocated for the members. Jackie was the only reason I went to club fitness. In my 8 months going there she has had to add 4 additional classes because all her other classes were at full capacity. People woke up at 4 AM to register for her spin class. The gym is deleting all comments and disabling reviews. Gym managers are harassing members from their personal Facebook accounts. The official statement was that saying that Jackie's spin classes were dangerous because she did unique moves... yet they JUST posted a video of her spin class on their Facebook page for marketing!! Also she was not given any warning about these "dangerous classes" previous to her termination. I liked this gym because I thought everyone was welcome. Body builders to people starting their fitness journey. I wanted to give my money to a local chain, not a big company. But I will NOT support a company that fat shames, wrongfully terminates instructors and ignores safety.
