I signed up to try a free class here and it was so much fun! Giving this 5 stars solely for the class I took and the instructor Remi that I took it with. However, I did not join this facility. Class: The instructor was motivating and the cardio sculpt class really made me feel the burn. I came on a Wednesday night (the last class) it was fairly empty - I think everyone comes for the kickboxing since I came early to sign up (no one was at the front desk so I just awkwardly watched for 15 minutes). Some thoughts I had: It's not your average gym, there are weights and equipment in the back but I'm not sure if it's open to everyone of just those taking private lessons. The main area is a large open cardio floor great for group workouts which is what it is. Most people workout barefoot or with indoor/solely for the gym kind of shoes only. Not sure if I am a personal fan because it seems unclean/dangerous if a weight is dropped on the foot. As a transformation gym, I was interested in kickstarting my health and getting toned.- possibly even their bikini comp programs - I thoroughly checked the website and was interested in their nutrition program especially as well. I stayed after the class and had the opportunity to meet Mark. Nice guy but when I asked him about the programs and he just kept telling me to look on the website which didn't provide much information about their nutrition format or how the body tracking/goal setting works. I really wanted to love this place and was ready to sign up right then and there but didn't feel like I would get the support I was looking for just based on my first interaction. Love this training loft, Denise,the owner, is a the best out there. Various classes offered such as TRX, body pump, yoga, cardio kickboxing, cardio sculpt, personal training, bootcamp, figure/bikini comp training, and clean eating workshops one a month. She has a wealth of knowledge and puts you on the right track for success. Mark and Liz are also awesome instructors, and there are always new classes being added. Wow I can't believe I have not written a review for this place. I have been coming here for about four years now and I see Denise. She is the owner an my personal trainer. She gives you a good training but also provides classes, nutrition and bikini com prep. What I love about the place is the people that come here. They are all supportive and nice. There truly is no judgement here and even the other personal trainers are so encouraging even if you are not their clients. Everyone is just so welcoming here and I really appreciate that. I was introduced to training loft by a member and super Happy I gave it a try. I was not disappointed going on my 2nd month of joining and only thing I can this place can really motivate you it doesn't matter if your already fit or just starting out. The entire crew at training loft are amazing!!! If you can give the trainers a try they are the best no playing around they make you work and at end it's nothing but rewarding remember they are there to push you. I promised myself that I would leave a much deserved comment to this gym when I lost 80 pounds, and as of last week I did! I joined this gym in May of 2015. At first it's a little intimidating when you see the intensity of the classes and all these people who are just completely ripped and in shape. But I found that this gym provides a culture that is both welcoming and supportive, even from the members! Everyone is welcomed here, there are people of all abilities, ages and fitness levels. The classes are never boring and all the instructors are great! I really have to say thank you because this has truly been a life changing experience for me physically and mentally! If you do your part, this gym will exceed in doing theirs. If you need some inspiration you can read my story below. Thank you TL714!!!! By age 30 I was the heaviest I have ever been at almost 300 pounds. Like most overweight people, I struggled with my weight all my life. But what I hadn't experienced up to this point was the cascade of adverse health conditions that had started which included prehypertension, a resting heart rate of almost 90 (that's high), sleep apnea, arthritis in both of my hips, always almost falling and spraining my ankle often because my right knee was always giving out. Not to mention I just generally did not feel well. To make matters worse I'm a an RN and trust me when I say it is a war zone that I walk into everyday at work. I would say at least 9 out of 10 patients that I work with are in the hospital due to completely preventable illnesses and disease. But here I was their nurse doing nothing different than they were. Working with people with diabetes that is so out of control they would come one admission to get their toes amputated, just to come a few months later to get part of that same foot amputated and get readmitted AGAIN ending up needing a below the knee amputation. I've seen people in their 20s and 30s with full blown colon cancer, people in their 40s and 50s being told they only have a few years to live because the ejection fraction of their heart is so low. It's an eye opener. At that point I felt like I was not only failing myself, my patients and my family, but I was scared for my health. I was actively pursuing to go to grad school to become a nurse practitioner and it occurred to me that I could never gain the trust of my patients and be an effective leader in my profession in this state of health. I remember when I was in nursing school I couldn't understand how a nurse or doctor could smoke cigarettes, but let me tell you, obesity puts you at a greater risk of mortality and SEVERAL diseases and cancers than smoking. I was no different or any better, not at all. I joined Training Loft and at first was unsure what I stepped into. It was tough at first to keep up, I was so heavy I couldn't even interlace my fingers behind my back when we stretched (I would have to try and hang on to my fingertips). But I stuck with it. And of course I failed when it came to eating right and staying on track, but what I did differently this time is I just accepted everyday as a clean slate to start over again. At this point it has been 10 months since I joined. Since then I have lost 82 pounds (haven't been this weight since my teens), I no longer have sleep apnea, my arthritis in my hips is practically gone, my knee doesn't give out on me, my last recorded blood pressure was 108/64, my resting heart rate was 64 and I feel better not only physically but I am also confident that I can lead by example in my profession and for my children. I have also by personal choice adopted a whole foods, plant based diet (no meat, dairy, eggs or other animal products) and I can tell you this is literally the healthiest I have ever been in my life. I recently had blood work done to check my cholesterol levels and my doctor said it was one of the most phenomenal lipid panels she had ever seen. I really believe that if you do your part, Training Loft will exceed theirs! I'm extremely grateful for my experience here and will continue to work on my fitness goals. An amazing training facility in the downtown Benicia area. Come in with a towel, water bottle as well as a positive open mind (as mentioned in the schedule) and be prepared to sweat!! They offer cardio, sculpt fusion, TRX and yoga!! This may seem like a limited selection but do not be fooled. You will leave feeling that you have worked out hard like no other. The owner and instructors are there to help you out and push you beyond your comfort zone. They are there to empower and encourage. There is no room for judgment here. Work at your own pace and leave feeling like greatness. For those who want to step it up a notch, consider competition and be in the greatest shape of your life. Denise and her expertise can and will get you there if you make the commitment and heart for it! You have a team there that will support you 100% even the ones who are just there for their workout! I just got done with my first boot camp class and burned over 600 calories! I was a personal trainer and am a Registered Dietitian, and I have to say this place rocks! The members were very welcoming and the class was amazing. All levels are welcome, so don't be intimidated. I was also impressed with the value. So many gyms in the Bay Area are ridiculously expensive and don't give you half as much "bang for your buck." The Loft also includes nutrition classes with a membership. Don't want to sign your life away in a contract? No problem! The Loft offers a few different options to choose from. Awesome place, great results. I can't wait to go back!! p.s.
