It's official... I love Amy. This is one of a handful of times in my adult life that I've actually left the salon loving my hair. Usually I'm pretty indifferent and leave salons thinking I will just never have nice hair. I showed Amy what I wanted and she asked me some questions about the length, my styling routine and my hair texture and modified it to fit me. Some hair dressers just do exactly what's in the picture you show them and don't take your hair type into account. I absolutely love my hair now and am going to continue going back to her. No more hairdresser hopping for me! About the salon? It's nice and relaxing and looks really clean. The receptionist was very nice and unlike some other yelpers, I didn't get an uppity vibe from the place at all. I think the prices are very fair for the LA area. Also, they have feathers for your hair. I've been wanting one for ages and couldn't get one today just because I'm dying my hair tonight. Laura is the best... hands down. I've been around the block a time or two with stylists in the Santa Clarita Valley and I know when I find a good one. My only hope is that she doesn't move away or retire... like all the others. The last girl I wrote a raving review on wound up not being as good as I thought and I learned that you can't really tell if a stylist is a good match for you until you see them a few times. I am on my third weave with Laura and wanted to make sure she was as good as I thought she was before I wrote this review. Turns out she's great. She takes the time to get to know YOU and your style, and asks plenty of questions. She's been doing this for many years and knows her stuff. The plus, she's really cool. I informed the front desk I wasn't satisfied with my color and she brought the owners out who were super nice and went through and touched up what I showed them about my color. If you are extremely particular about your hair, this is going to be your wonderland. Beyoncé and Chrissy Tegan are among their long list of high profile clientele. Laura and Chelsea will make you look better than you ever thought you could look. The word miracle is a pitiful attempt to describe the type of work these girls do. Their meticulous attention to detail, their diligent pursuit for color longevity, their deep knowledge of how to maintain a substantial head of hair. They will morph your locks into something you've merely scoffed at when watching a shampoo commercial (ya right my hair won't ever look like that). The day I left their salon, I was stopped in the middle of a store by a woman who just wanted to tell me how immaculate my hair was. I can't say enough. The staff is friendly as well, but more importantly they will give it to you straight (or curly ha just a little dad joke there). They will tell you what can be achieved and how to get there. When I first started to come to Tranquility, I was happy with my hair cut and color. Then, a while back, my stylist, Amanda, left me under the dryer a REALLY long time. I didn't have my phone or a watch with me, so I don't know how long it was. She had been overlapping appointments and doing someone else's hair in between. At first, I"d thought she'd forgotten about me. Anyway, I didn't return for a while. Then, when I came back, the first time my hair cut was good. The second time, by the 2nd month it looked awful, shaggy and long. So, I went back and paid another $50 for another hair cut. Usually, hair cuts last me 3 months. By the way, I know what length looks good on me, so I reminded her. This time, it was still long, so I asked her to take some more off, which she did. However, the hair cut never looked good. I really appreciate it when stylists look at your face shape and know what should look good on you and then make sure it's complementary before they consider themselves done. Since the age of 13, I have been getting my hair done by Laura, the owner of Tranquility. She is absolutely amazing. I have loved every cut and color done by her and in no way do I have easy, manageable hair. I drive three hours south to get my hair done by her since moving up north, that's how good she is. :) My entire family gets their hair done at this salon and has always been happy with the results. It is a relaxed and fun atmosphere and the staff is always attentive to customer needs. I have also had waxing and nail services here, both of which turned out great. I recently had lunch with a friend who's hair was the first thing I noticed. It was ultra shiny and silky looking. She told me about the Brazillian Blowout and that she had gotten it done MONTHS AGO. I have really dry, coarse,wavy and thick hair. I use a flat iron on it every few days just to make it presentable. I LOVE Tranquility!! I've been getting my hair done here for as long as I can remember and figured it was about time I wrote a review! I go about every 3 months and every time I want to completely change my hair style. You would think my hairstylist would shriek every time I walked in the door, but instead, she loves it and welcomes my unpredictability! Lahoma is amazing! I can't say that enough. My hair goes from light brown with highlights to dark/black and back and forth all year round and she does this flawlessly. I never come in with any particular cut in mind because I know Lahoma will make me look amazing. She is the type of stylist that knows exactly what will look good on you. She has the eye for sure and won't let you down! The salon as a whole is beautiful, clean and welcoming. What I also love are the cute little accessories that are for sale near reception. I got an extremely bad haircut from a stylist who had been cutting my hair for years! I was a true victim of the "moody stylist" epidemic. Needless to say, I was miserable...went from long hair to VERY short hair...like 10 inches off short and the cut was horrible and uneven. I have been getting pedicures at Tranquility for over 10 years. I will no longer do so after Sandi left. I gave her replacement two tries -- first time it was a sloppy job that lasted less than two weeks. Second time poor cutting resulted in an ingrown nail. Sorry -- never again. I'll miss it. p.s. I had been searching for a great salon that is fairly priced and I found it! Everyone there was really friendly and the salon is really nice and clean. It was my first time and they have a 20% off coupon for first time customers which helped! I have really long hair and it was starting to weigh me down so I wanted a trim and layers all around. I've been going to see J-Me for years, ever since I was a young child, mostly because she and I have the same exact hair type and so she knows what my crazy curly hair does once it's dry. For anyone with crazy poofy curly hair, GO SEE J-ME, she is amazing! I love J-Me, and I hate to write this review, but this review is mainly directed at Kim, the manager of the salon. I haven't been to see J-Me in a couple years, so when I finally was ready to I set up an appointment using their online system. I needed a keratin treatment and a cut. When I was using the drop-down menu I didn't see a choice for Keratin, so I chose something similar and wrote in the memo section that I needed a keratin treatment and to call me if there were any questions. With my appointment coming up a week later, I called to confirm my appointment, and I was transferred over to Kim. That's when it all got bad. She was EXTREMELY rude, treating me like some new customer that just "doesn't know any better" because I had never been there before. I told her "excuse me, I've been seeing J-Me for over 10 years!" And she tried to tell me I was lying because my name wasn't in the system. Probably because I just got married a few months prior and my last name was different! Completely insensitive! Once we got past that I tried to work out a way to do the treatment on one of my days off, or even before work in the morning, and she was trying to book me for a month later!!! At the end she said she would leave a note with J-Me and she would call me to try to work out a time when I could come in. J-Me never called me, which knowing J-Me and knowing how Kim was treating me, I'm willing to bet she never even passed on the memo to her. She doesn't seem to care if you're a new customer or a loyal customer, if you give them the SLIGHTEST bit of a complication they treat you like dirt. HORRIBLE customer service at this salon! I'll go back to this salon once KIM is no longer with them, I cannot believe she still has a job with the attitude she showed me! If I were only reviewing my experiences with J-Me, I would give her 6 stars! If I were reviewing the customer service here, I would give them 0 stars! read more

I've been here a few times to get my haircut but came here for just a blow out. It was before a special day so I just wanted to look nice however I left the salon with my hair puffy, frizzy, and not "blown out" AT ALL. Had to go home and style my hair myself which completely ruined the whole point of going to a salon. What a WASTE of money and I am not returning. read more

ok, here's my update . . . I'm still tooootally satisfied with Tranquility here's how it went down.... -got my original Shellac on a Tuesday, on Wednesday is was scratched (supposed to last 2 weeks) -I called on Wednesday & they offered to fix it same day without me having to build a 5 point defense case (very professional of them) -They also gave me the option of keeping the same set for a week & to watch how the product worked (they think that specific shellac color may be defective & wanted to see if their theories were correct ). Then I could book a free appt the following week & they would redo the entire set . . . comped. :) -I kept the original shellac on for a week . . and though I got lots of compliments, it was bad, lots of lifting, and I eventually peeled most of it off before the week ended -i used the on-line appt feature at night (loved it) & booked a 9:30am appt for the next day. Thanx for technology, Tranquility! -Sandi did my nails and she did a fabulous job! She used the Gelish product instead of Shellac to see if that made a difference. -When we were done, she walked me to the counter & there was no awkward moment re: the lack of payment required :) sandi had clearly taken care of it before I got there. Love that! (but I did leave a tip....because of great service) -3 days later 7 the nails are looking great! -Also, I got a follow up email from Sandi 2 days later, asking me how the nails were doing. really? I have rarely gotten that service from anyone in any industry. :) Tranquility . . . you're good. You're really good. read more

I made an online appointment with Robin (she was the only person available that day) and one of the reasons I went was because you're supposed to get 20% off your first visit. Apparently, though, this does not apply if you have Robin (although nothing on the site said anything about this) because she doesn't actually work for Tranquility Spa, she's like a private hair dresser who works out of their facility, so I had to write a personal check to her for full price for a hair coloring. When I told her what color I was looking for, she said ok and disappeared. I grabbed a hair magazine so that I could show her what color I was thinking of and before I could even point to the first picture, she was already squirting color into my hair! She didn't tell me anything about it, I'm hoping it wasn't permanent! The color turned out waaay too dark for me. I felt very rushed and felt like I was wasting her time more than anything, she didn't listen to what I wanted and when she was washing my hair, she kept pulling and hurting my head. I just was not impressed at all for my first visit. I was so disappointed because I thought this was supposed to be pretty high end. I much prefer the service at Aveda in Stevensons Ranch. read more
