Definitely not a, "high end" salon if that's what you are looking for. It's a pretty average ordinary salon with ordinary stylists and hairstylists. I knew folks who used to come here years ago. Apparently, rumors going on that the owner is, "racist." Not really surprised if that's the case since it's Santa Clarita and this city has a long history of that but that's no surprise. Most hairdressers/stylists only stay there temporarily for a certain time then leave to go to a more high end salon. It's mediocre/average at best. Service is mid/the bare minimum. If you want a top tier salon and hairstylists, go somewhere else. Not sure what people expect. read more

After reading a few reviews, I disagree, I don't feel that Tresses is dirty or Racist. I do feel, however, that the owner, Beth is a princess, she definitely feels like she's better than most. She does good coloring, cuts and styling. She does not skimp on product. I was very offended when I heard, more than once, that she does her "Slum shopping in Canyon Country." I live in Canyon Country, on 5 acres and have a beautiful home. Not once did I tell her that her 5000 square foot lot was less than mine. She made sure that her clients knew how much better she is than them. Even if they were from Valencia, she would find a way to be better than them. I still go to Beth, I just plug my ears and don't listen to her High School Drama. Her daughter acts more mature than her! read more

This review is a bit overdue but better late than never! I had truly the best salon experience I ever had with Karina here. I have curly hair, and I've had hair dresses completely ruin my hair to the point of me gaining a mistrust of other people handling my hair. That fear is gone with Karina. I came in on my birthday after having an absolutely horrible morning. I was in a sour mood, I was feeling defeated, and I almost cancelled my appointment. Karina was so warm and inviting, we had amazing conversation, she reminded me of my mom! Without even reviewing her hair cutting skills, she saved my birthday. She really dropped so much knowledge on me and made me feel so comforted I have to applaud her for just that. Now her haircut? So cute. Like I said before I had a couple of bad hair are experiences in high school and I never let someone touch my hair again. I had already come in with my hair washed from the day before so she decided to cut it dry, which I was so relived about. It showed me she already had great experiences cutting curly hair. My hair was relatively flat and just sat on my face, I was going to cut it all off. But she shaped it so nicely, it's so full, I've never had layers and she made mine so cute. I adore my cut. Was looking for a last minute (1-2 day notice) haircut appointment for my teenage daughter. Beth responded same day with an availability for the following day. Her cut was great. The 5 stars was for offering to come back and meet us to curl my daughters hair for her school photo that evening. The haircut was too easy in the day for the curl to hold. We couldn't fit in the additional styling - BUT WHAT SERVICE. She wears a mask, shield, and gloves. She put an extra towel over my daughters mask as she shampooed her hair. I would give this place a 0 if I could!!! What a bunch of stuck up, unprofessional, Tabatha Coffey wanna be's!! My husband took my son over to get a color. When they walked in, not one person greeted them. They stood there and still no one came over or even so much as made eye contact with them. Not even the 2 useless chicks standing there talking to each other. They sat down and, still no greeting. They ended up walking out. My son is obviously mixed and I knew I was taking a chance messing with a white salon, but damn it's not like he was looking for a press and curl or full sew in weave!! I was recommended to MERCI, a hairstylist that works at Tresses by my sister-in-law. I absolutely LOVE her! She makes appointments by text, has a flexible schedule, is VERY reasonably priced for her services, and is extremely knowledgeable about different hairstyles, cuts, and colors. Oh, did I mention you get free wine, salami, and cheese while you're there? I mean, JACKPOT! My last two visits with Merci have included getting an ombre coloring in my hair that I was very hesitant on getting. However, just by showing her a few pictures from the internet on my phone of the two hair colors I wanted she made my hair look amazing. I have been getting my hair done for years. I walked into Tresses as I was getting quite frustrated w/ the wait times at my past salon and how expensive it had become. I was w/ that salon for 7-8 years, but when my last color took over 2.5 hours, (she overbooked herself), I was done. I walked into Tresses & it felt so warm & welcoming, an incredible ambiance. I met Beth & made an appointment. Unnerving switching hairdressers, so I was anxious. So today I got my hair cut with karina. I was super nervous and terrified. It was my first time getting my haircut curly. She was amazing ! I honestly recommend her for all of my woman who have curly hair! She first started asking me questions about how I been taking care of my hair. She further asked me what I wanted. We spent a good twenty minutes discussing. Which I appreciated that she took the time to answer all my questions about my hair. I love my hair cut and I can not stop flipping it. I recently switched to Tresses when my usual hair salon became a bit too pricey. I booked an appointment with Robin, who is so awesome and makes you feel really comfortable. I asked for an ombre with red tips and brunette on top, she nailed it! It looked just as good if not better than the picture I showed her. I went in a few weeks ago to get it touched up again and at the end I decided I wanted her to style my hair too as it was a Saturday night, and she didn't make me feel like she was pressed for time or that it was something she didn't want to do. The prices are reasonable and atmosphere is serene. She absolutely catered to my needs and I even get to have a relaxing glass of wine while I'm there- I love it! read more

Okay, lets start by saying that it was an amazing day! I have limited mobility issues, like forever and a day but I made it to walk in and get my hair washed and my ends trimmed. Well, I got a very warm and friendly greeting when I walked in. I was looking for a new stylist and everything for my hair. My previous beautician was too far away for me to travel. Beth, the owner recommended that I sit in Karina's chair. See those white stars above, they were all around her this day. My hair was heavy when I arrived and light as a feather when I left. The whole process was a delight. I rested my eye and my tire legs when she did her magic. It felt like I was walking on clouds. So refreshing to have someone listen to you about what products to use or not, and the experience shows. She had me with the shampoo and then the deep conditioning. I feel like a young grey fox now! I wish I could give this salon less than one star. I asked for an ombré hair color starting with a chocolate color at the crown and preserve the blonde on the ends. Instead, I got red roots and a terrible black color all over. Not even my trim was cut evenly. I didn't even bother going back there to get my money back, after all one of the owners named Beth did my hair. Not a very good skill set there. I decided to give this salon a try, Katie was the "stylist", and I've never been one to complain but I have never had such horrible customer service, and hair. (Picture posted) I showed a picture of how I wanted my hair and I walked out looking like a calico cat. I wanted an ombre and my hair color turned out uneven and choppy. I called after explaining how unhappy I was with my hair and that's when the customer service went bad. I had to jump through hoops to try to get my money back and excuses kept coming on why I couldn't get a full refund. After talking, she finally said "if you're truly unhappy, I would rather just return your money". The next day I had my mom go pick it up because I live out of town, and I received a phone call from my mom shortly after. The owner pulled my mom aside to "talk" and she then reprimanded my mom about the refund, which my mom had nothing to do with, and followed my mom to her car still harassing her when she was trying to leave. Once I received the money, I noticed I was $50 short, after being told verbatim I would get my money back. My advice, stick with your original hair dresser. This has been a hair nightmare for me. read more

Dishonest, poor business practices, no accountability! I went to Tresses for a hair cut on Friday Dec 27th , 2013 and as luck would have it, *atie V. had an opening. I'll admit I was not paying close attention to what she was doing or how she was cutting my hair but I did notice that she was really quick... I mean fast at cutting hair. She was blow drying my hair within minutes of when she made the first snip. I also didn't take a comb and thoroughly check her work before I left but it looked OK at the time. However, when I got home, as is my habit, I rewashed my hair, dried it and style it...Not this time. I was combing out my hair and noticed that it was really uneven in some places and hadn't even been cut in other places. I had asked her to cut it in long layers but try to keep as much length as possible but if she needed to cut more off the length to get the layers to look right I was OK with that too. My hair looked like she took a dull steak knife and randomly cut sections around the sides and back but never touched the top front of my hair. Only half of my bangs were trimmed. So, after breakfast Saturday I went back to Tresses to have someone other than *atie V. fix this hot mess. I explained my issue with the receptionist and she asked *obin to recut my hair...the only caveat was that she would fix it but charge me another $50 so, I opted to leave. I started to realize at that moment that I made a huge mistake when I picked Tresses for a simple hair cut. It just so happened that one of the owners was listening in and she stopped me before I left and asked to speak with me. I thought,' Oh good! I can explain whats going on and get my hair fixed without being charged AGAIN! Not so. The owner ( I don't know which one) asked to look at my hair cut so that " you can show me what you think the problem is" ( her words). I combed a section of hair straight up and showed her how badly it had been cut. Anyone could clearly see that some of the hair was cut and some was not the difference was at least 2 inches... there was chunks of hair missing from every section of hair I combed out to show her. She then took a comb and started combing sections of my hair down and away from my head and manipulating it to try and make it look even...it wasn't working but she was saying that it was even...I ask her if she really "called that even?" Well, thats when she went on the defensive in a huge way... She told me that it was probably MY FAULT because I didn't communicate clearly enough to *atie V. what I had wanted.I don't know a clearer way to say " I want you to cut my hair in long layers keeping as much length as possible but if you need to cut off some length I'm OK with that.". She said that it could be the way the previous stylist cut my hair. *She was actually blaming the guy who cut my hair 4 months ago!!! I'm serious!* Then she said that there are many ways, *at least 5*, to cut a layer style and maybe *atie just didn't understand what way I wanted it cut. -Whatever way you cut a layer style in the end the layers should be even and ALL the hair should at least meet the shears at least once. A bad hair cut is a bad hair cut no matter which "WAY" you go about cutting it. She flung another lame excuse at me: *atie V. has never cut my hair before so she wasn't used to *MY* hair. The owner told me that she allows at least 2-3 visits before the client is satisfied with the cut/stylist I couldn't make this stuff up. If I could I would be writing for television or something. You know, if the owner would have just said "I'm sorry your cut isn't what you want, let me fix it at no charge" I would have been happy with that! If she had said " Sorry, you don't like your cut, we've been really busy because of the holidays, we'll fix your hair and we'll work out the charges with the stylist who screwed it up the first time." I'm good with that too....Why on earth would you insist that my hair is fine when you saw for yourself it isn't? Why would you blame the customer for the bad hair cut instead of taking the opportunity to make things right and guarantee a repeat customer? Why would you EVER allow a dissatisfied customer to be CHARGED TWICE for a bad hair cut? How could you blame the stylist who cut my hair 4 months ago? ( maybe longer) He didn't do anything to you! He did a great job! And lastly, how could you possibly use the excuse that 'she has never cut *MY* hair before so she isn't used to it' with a straight face? I don't know what was going on with *atie that day but the cut she did on my hair was the worst I've ever had and I went through Cosmetology and let students cut my hair! I can understand having an off day, I understand being distracted but, own up to your mistakes. read more
