Dishonest Pricing & Unprofessional Service I recently had a very disappointing experience with this shop. I called ahead for a quote to program and relearn the transmission control module (TCM) on my 2010 GM vehicle. Josh quoted me $250 over the phone, and that was the reason I chose this shop instead of the dealership. I dropped my car off after hours, left a detailed note, and even provided extra transmission fluid and coolant just in case. The next day, I didn't get a call with any updates, so I called around 4:40 PM--they hadn't even checked the car in yet. They finally finished the following day and called me to pick it up. When I arrived, the bill was $389, not the $250 I was quoted. When I questioned the price, I was told the extra charges were for topping off half a quart of transmission fluid (which I provided) and test-driving the vehicle. At no point was I called or asked to approve additional charges. Josh even confirmed in front of the manager/owner that he quoted me $250, but the manager refused to honor the quote and was extremely rude and combative about it. After arguing, he reduced the bill to $317.50, which still felt dishonest. To make matters worse, the vehicle still doesn't shift properly, which makes me question the quality of the work done. This entire experience felt unprofessional and unethical. If you want transparency, communication, and accountability, I strongly recommend going elsewhere--even if it costs a little more. read more

After much deliberation and calling around to various shops in the area, I took my Jeep here to have my differential gears changed out. Their quote was the best one I got and worth the hour or so drive down to Fredericksburg. I provided my own parts, and even then other shops were happy to quote me almost double what Trans Tech did, and one shop even flat out said they would not use my parts (brand new). They got the work done in 2.5 days. I dropped the Jeep off on Sunday and had it back on Thursday (although it was done on Wednesday). Long story short, these guys are honest and know what they're doing. Their labor estimates are very reasonable. If I have any differential or transmission-related work that needs to be done in the future (outside of fluid/oil changes that I can do myself) I will be back. read more

Very honest business, I thought I was having a transmission problem, trans was slipping,or so I thought (I still don't know whats wrong with it)but, they tested it and even drove it home to try to duplicate the problem, it would not co-operate, however, they refused to charge me even a cent for 2 days worth of work. I was having problems with the vehicle transmission slipping, The shop took a look - thinking the issue could have been an inexpensive sensor and not an expensive transmission repair. I was shocked by their honesty.... transmission shops can really take advantage of people. Ultimately, I had to get the transmission repaired. He went thru the options - a new rebuilt one, used one from a junk yard, or get sell the vehicle as is. They were helpful and honest - and gave me several days to think it thru the options with out pushing a choice. I went with a rebuilt transmission with a 3 year warranty - I am very happy with the work and definitely recommend them. read more

I really want to like them. Super friendly. Excellent price. They seemed very up front and honest. BUT how the hell do you install a trans cooler without touching the radiator??? My transmission works beautifully now and I am very grateful for them fixing it. But now my radiator is leaking and it was fine before my car went in their shop. I noticed it started leaking a couple days out of the shop when I went to put some air in my tires. When I popped the hood the res tank was empty. Took it back and they said the radiator itself was leaking. But claiming they didn't touch the radiator. If I didn't put air in my tires and saw the leak, I could of had some major damaged done to our ONLY car. We have 2 children. A toddler and a newborn. My fiance and I both work 30 min from home and our childcare is another 30 min away. We can't afford to not have a car. Now I'm going to have to take my car somewhere else for them to varify it was their fault before they do anything. I'm pretty sure the mechanic f*cked up and won't own up to his mistake. Shop owner I know is backing him up which I get. But come on! This is total bullsh*t. I will post update once I can get it to another shop to find out next step and if it does in fact show its their fault. Which I'm pretty damn sure it is. I'm giving 3 stars because they are very friendly, fixed my transmission, and were very reasonable in price. If it is in fact not their fault, I will update to 5 stars. But I whole heartedly believe they did something on accident to my car and won't own up to the damage. I don't think it was on purpose, I do think it was an accident. read more

I had a transmission put in 9 months ago and it recently went out again. I had a warranty and it covered the transmission for 1 year. When I told the owner what happened he said drop it by and he would check it out. It took them 3 1/2 weeks to finally get it back to me. They said that it wasn't a priority for them. I had to rent a car and it cost me nearly $1500 for the time I was out of a vehicle. Of course he wouldn't help with the expense and he said it's not his problem. Then the day I picked it up my ac wasn't working which it was when I dropped it to them. Again the owner refused to fix this and said "it's not my problem". This company is by far the worst customer service I have ever seen. Furthermore their experience and knowledge is very poor. The transmission they rebuilt failed within 8 months. I was mortified with the way he treated me and I paid him $3000 to do the work. I recommend to stay clear of this shop if you need transmission work or any mechanical work done at all. read more
