This place is truly bad. I got an oil change and as i was driving to the airport I got a message saying that the oil level was below the minimum and I needed to add some. I did. I brought it back and they admitted that the filter was not placed in into the housing correctly. They redid it and pulled the car out and the engine was rattling. They pulled it back in and allegedly got it right - the rattling stopped. I took it to a real facility and they said my engine was an oily mess. They cleaned it up and put everything in correctly this time. After almost killing my car after a simple oil change they had the audacity to charge me a second time for the synthetic oil change. This place will cost me hundreds of dollars in repairs bc of their "oil change". They shorted out my glow plug on my sprinter (problem 1), they took off my air filter house and never replaced it which prompted my engine light (problem 2), all next to the oil filter they replaced. This is a little late, but I had an amazing experience with these guys! I was driving up to DC from Richmond, and out of nowhere, a big 18-wheeler wheel came flying out in the middle of the highway and I couldn't avoid it and ended up running over it. Me, knowing nothing about cars, panicked and pulled over to the first shop i saw. I got lucky with this one. These guys were more than happy to help me and explain to me what happened. They even had to take something off the wheel that got damaged, and did it happily. The men were nice and super helpful! I was really skeptical about this place because i usually go to a big name auto shop lile tiresplus for my oil changes, and because of all the 5 star reviews grease moneky got i was sure they were fake. Because i live in southern maryland and work in fredericksburg i put ALOT of miles on my car, i decided to at least give them a chance because it was so close to work that maybe i wouod get better service than i do at home. To be completely honest and without exaggeration.. i will never go anywhere else ever again. They are amazing. I was greeted instantly, and told them what i wanted (high mileage oil change with tire rotation) and they gave me a price..all before i even got out of the car. After about 5minutes one of the guys comes in and unlike most places where they tell you 1,000 things that are wrong with your car to try to get money out of you, he actually brought me my air filter and told me thet recommend i change it and the cost, i declined, and he just said "ok well we will do your oil change and tire rotation and be done soon". That simple. All in all it took only about 20minutes tops and they even cleaned my carpets!. And the owner is a wonderful man. We talked about the business and about my job (i work for the post office). He is a really nice respectful man who i can tell really cares about his business. As for the negative reviews.. i would suggest trying to go when they are least busy. I went on a friday around 1130am and got wonderful service. read more

Man oh man, I was really impressed with this place. Can't judge a book by its cover. It doesn't look fancy on the outside but they are fast, they know their stuff and they go out of their way to save you money. I went to a dealer for an issue, one crazy priced estimate later, I'm showing the same issue to these guys and they're like, "this is an easy fix Mr. Bernard, we don't even need to charge for that." Went in for a state inspection and oil change in February of last year. Had to replace the front breaks to pass. Took my car to somewhere else today while I was there I assumed I would be good to go just to get my inspection now while they weren't busy, only to find out not only did they not change my beak pads, now I need new rotors. Spent $442 and got nothing but a Cleveland steamer on my chest. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Excellent experience. I just moved to the area, and needed an oil change. Yelp to the rescue as always! Went to Grease Monkey this morning and I was in and out within an hour. Quick service and great customer relations. The service technician came in to let me know what they found during their regular inspection of the vehicle, discussed what I wanted to have done today, and he didn't try to sell me any extra services. I really appreciated that because as a female, I tend to be treated like I don't know anything about my vehicle at most service places. In addition to the regular oil change service, they also wash your windows and vacuum the interior! Normally my husband changes the oil for me. However, when the oil plug became mangled I needed to take my car to professionals. I was a little skeptical about the 5 star rating, but decided to give Grease Monkey a shot. I arrived at 8:00 and was back on the road by 8:20. They drilled out the plug for no extra cost, vacuumed the car, and even brewed fresh coffee! The owner and technicians were friendly and welcoming, and the waiting area was clean. Update: August 30,2019- Since the post above, I did receive a full service coupon for my bad experience on June 1st. 'Atta Boy Jim! On August 29th I went in to redeem my coupon. Jim the owner was not there. I had my oil changed and I requested that the tires be rotated. One of the employees starting talking to me about the truck and eventually he came around to badmouthing the owner Jim for having nice vehicles for his family although he doesn't have health insurance. Not real profesh bro. As the guys went to work on the tire rotation, I noticed that they were moving the tires to the incorrect positions on the vehicle. I referred them to a diagram as a result of a Google search, then I had to watch like a hawk that they followed through with my request. They tried to tell me that they were doing it correctly. Uh, no. It was at this time that Jared lit up a cigarette and walked freely in and out of the work bays. These are the areas where hazardous materials are. Nothing apparently had resulted from the above post even though I was assured that Jim had spoken to these guys. INCIDENTALLY, THIS WAS THE SAME GUY WHO WAS SMOKING IN THE GARAGE THE LAST TIME I WAS HERE. If it was my business, he would be fired! Jim probably did speak with these monkeys, but clearly they don't give a crap about their jobs, about Grease Monkey's reputation or about THE GENERAL SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC WHO FREQUENT THIS BUSINESS. So here we are once again. After redeeming my coupon, I asked Jared "Do you know why I'm getting a free oil change today?" He said he remembered the post (the one above that I had taken down when I got my coupon but now goes back up). I reminded him that I was getting a free service today partly because of his smoking in the shop. I also let him know that 2 times on this visit I saw him bring a lit cig into the shop. Will not be going back. All the times we've gone before they've changed the oil and wiped down the inside of the car and windows. This time they charged substantially more for the oil change; then called shortly after we'd dropped the car off and said it needed a back wiper and air filter. Did not offer prices individually or as a total. I thought those 2 things together would cost about $20; so I expected the total bill to be $60-$65. GOOGLE REVIEWS Most relevant Martha Jane Martha Jane 2 minutes ago RUN.. BAD, BAD, BAD. I took my car into their shop to have an oil change. I have a smart car and they assured me they have worked with these cars before. I was so happy and was treated so great by the owner of the company and even got a new customer discount. Everything seemed to be great. Once I got home, which is a 30 mile drive from Fredericksburg as I was walking away from my car I noticed the engine cover was half way hanging off my car underneath. This tells me that it was not fastened properly after they changed my oil and performed the other services. Things happen and I understand that, so I called Grease Monkey and left a message.They didn't call back, so I again called them the next morning. The guy I spoke with assured me they would put it back on. I took my car back and after waiting a half an hour I was told it was fixed but they had to put two bolts and a zip tie on it to get it fastened. I'm guessing in a round about way they said we had to rig it. I'm pretty sure a zip tie is not an OEM part. They went on to tell me that magically the fastener and the bracket was broken off and this was the only option they had to get the engine cover to stay on. They also said it had absolutely nothing to do with any of the services they performed. Bull. They made zero mention when they worked on my car that anything was broken. Magically today it is but wasn't them who broke it. My car is relatively new with 30k miles on it. I have never had one problem with it and it seems very coincidental the day they service my car all of the sudden the engine cover fastener was broken. What I suspect happened is whoever worked on my car didn't know what they were doing with a smart car and in the process of removing the engine cover broke the fastener and bracket. Never said one word about it. I questioned them about it and was dismissed and basically told I didn't know what I was talking about and I should be thankful they fixed it. They were so rude. They are the ones who broke it then rigged it to put it back together instead of manning up an admitting the mistake. Things happen I understand that. You own up to it, fix it properly with the correct parts then you move on. That's called doing business with integrity, but no they couldn't do that. Now I have to go and pay someone to fix it the proper way or replace it altogether. What these mechanics don't realize is I'm 55 years old I've been around the block. I worked over 30 years in the automotive industry I know when I'm being fed bull. Here's my final thought. The owner of the company was so awesome. Unfortunately he wasn't there today for me to speak directly to him. I wonder if I would have had this treatment if he had been. I was so looking forward to doing all of my business in the future with Grease Monkey and even told him I'd be back in 2 weeks to have my brakes checked and replaced if need be. That's not happening now. Honesty and doing business with integrity goes a long way. Too bad Grease Monkey chose to be rude and deny. Bad business. After several attempts to connect with the owner of Grease Monkey, I continue to be given the run around. So the "heartfelt response" to my review by the owner, Jim, is nothing more than an empty effort to resolve this issue. I was hoping my first impression was true. Once I got the estimates to have the damage Grease Monkey did to my car fixed, I went to their location as requested by the owner Jim. He was not at the store, but I was greeted by the same bully, Jared, who went off on me the previous visit. He immediately became confrontational once again with me. I have had some bad experiences with a few of the other automotive shops in the area (Firestone and A&J) the past few years I decided it was time to look around for something different to have my vehicles worked on. I spent some time looking at reviews online and got some word of mouth recommendations for Grease Monkey. Not only did they get positive remarks from people for their maintenance practices but the thing that affected my decision the most was the personal touch they provide with their customer base. I have not experienced anything so welcoming in quite sometime and when you feel comfortable at a mechanic shop then they are doing it right.
