I was a bit apprehensive at first because it was so much cheaper than the other private Pre-K schools we looked at but within the first few weeks we were impressed. The teachers were very engaged and my child, who is shy, took to the teachers right away. I loved that they would get homework and the arts and crafts they did were adorable. There were a lot of field trips and off-site events - awesome for kids. Security is very important here - buzzed in entry, visual recognition of caregiver before child can leave, etc. The class was very diverse. There were easily four or five bilingual children (Indian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian).

Both of my children are in middle school and have been at Hackley since Kindergarten. The campus is beautiful but most importantly the teachers are amazing educators who genuinely care for the students and often have their own children in the school. I spoke with Margie, in charge of Alumni Connections who told me to call back on Friday when she would have more time to speak with me and handle my issue. I remember feeling as if it can be handled right then and there when I explained it to her, and it wasn't so complicated. In fact the whole thing would have taken all but three minutes no matter how we resolved it. I left not one but two voice messages for her on that Friday at her request and she never called back. This was two weeks ago yesterday. I do not think she forgot and I don't think she is that busy. If she forgot to call back or didn't have time, then she can't handle her job very well. I feel as if it was done purposely though. If she does not want or is unable to cater to someone, there are more professional ways of handling it than telling a person to call in order not to call. I was surprised to see that such a fine institution as Hackley, hires staff that do not represent the extraordinary excellence they pride everyone else in their school in having; teachers, students and families. I think Hackley should have higher standards when screening out for certain roles such as Director of Alumni Engagement to better set an example for their students on how to interact with people.

Plenty of parking. Behind the church is a cemetery that dates back to the revolutionary war. You'll find headstones from soldiers dating from there to the present. Also memorials of the same. If you go directly behind the church and walk about 5 minutes you'll find the tomb of Washington Erving. Also present in this historic cemetery are the graves of Rockefeller's and Carnegies. They do tours both at night and during the day (night one is about an hour). Plus see the old and new sites of the horseman bridge. If you are in the area this is a must.

The rector, Rev. Nora Smith, is personable and down-to-earth, much like other Episcopal priests I have encountered. Her sermons are thoughtful and those that I have heard touch upon topics relevant to modern life and individual struggles. There is much to take way from the sermons themselves, and they make for a thought-provoking experience. This congregation also appears to take its concern for the wider world quite seriously. Their Sunday prayers include remembrances for Shane and Josh, the two American hikers still imprisoned in Iran; the environment and our stewardship of it; missions to the less fortunate in the Third World; as well as the standard prayers for bishops, parish folk, and the sick. It's nice to attend services at a church that has such a regard for the world and its people. The congregants are extremely friendly and go out of their way to introduce themselves and make you feel at home. Coffee is served after Mass in the well-appointed parish hall, which is nice and homey. Music here is a treat for the ears - although the choir is currently on hiatus for the summer - and there is also a small chapel off to the side of the main sanctuary where one can sit in private contemplation. I could go on, but if you find yourself in Irvington I recommend that you experience this parish for yourself. You won't be disappointed; rather, you will be welcomed warmly.

I sent many emails to the church and school that NO ONE answered. They did not have the courtesy to even let me know the status. I must assume this school is closed. Again Roman Catholics are the biggest hypocrites. AND since I AM Catholic myself I have the RIGHT to say this.

I was at my daughter's basketball game at this school on 2/8/14. Well I can say now I had seen it…read moreall. I think I just met my first sarcastic priest. When we arrived to the school, he made us walked to the main entrance and wanted to keep us waiting outside until I'm guessing the register was ready to charge us. Another mother said something and he let us in. Remind you, it was 20 degrees outside and our 3rd graders were wearing their uniform so they were freezing at the door. Because I had walked around the school after the game. I asked the same man about an exit on my right because I didn't want to walked all the way around with my 4 year old and my 9 year old. He told me there was only one exit and nobody was suppose to use the back door. I responded that several people came in via that door. I guess I was bothering him or my Spanish accent was funny to him because he acted funny, looked at the young lady by the snack station, they both laugh and thanked me in a very sarcastic way laughing. I told him I was just making them aware that the back door was being used so people were not paying. He ignore me by going back to his newspaper, laughing and thanking me again smiling very sarcastically. My kids asked me why they were laughing at us. He was wearing something that looked like a priest wear. If this is their priest, this school should feel embarrass. You should not be a priest. If you are not I don't want to use the word I would call you. I'm glad our season is over and next season my daughter will not attend any games at OLPH in Ardsley. This is a review of their gym space and not for the whole center. The gym has multiple drawbacks…read morethe most important one being not having multiple machines for strength training. Last summer they changed vendors for the machine and since then they seem to break quite a lot, and the repairs take forever. For example, currently the leg machine has been out of order for three weeks. And the cable machine is broken every week. So during busy times I end up wasting 15 to 30 minutes waiting for equipment. In the summertime it can get very stuffy inside because they don't have adequate airflow or fans. I have made multiple suggestions in their suggestion box, but as of now seen no results. I am hoping they will be moved to action after reading this review. I give them one more month and after that, I'm switching to somewhere else.
