I actually enjoy going to the dentist and have consistently gone every 6 months for years, so I know exactly what to expect from a routine visit. While the administrative staff was nice and attentive, my clinical experience with Dr. Patel felt more like a high-pressure "timeshare sales pitch" than a medical consultation. The first red flag happened when Dr. Patel recommended a specific cleaning that included a rinse/spray. When I told him I just wanted the basic cleaning covered by my insurance, he dismissed my preference. He stated he didn't know anything about my insurance coverage and refused to perform the basic cleaning. I later learned that his recommended cleaning came with an out-of-pocket expense of at least $100. The second red flag came when he displayed my X-rays on the big screen. He went over every tooth and recommended replacing old silver fillings with cosmetic white ones, along with several other costly procedures. When I questioned his recommendations, he became condescending and repeatedly asked if he had explained it well and if I even understood him.At that point, it became clear that I was dealing with a money-hungry dentist rather than a trustworthy provider whose primary focus is patient care. I will not be returning.

My experience with Dr. Vinh and his staff was excellent…read more They worked me in as a new patient on the same day(!) to examine a tooth that was having severe pain from a filling two months prior. Dr. Vinh examined the tooth, took x-rays as well as actual images of the filling and found that the filling was on an area where the body was rejecting it due to it being outside of the biological width of the area. He explained what was happening by showing a quick video as well as diagrams. He reccomended an extraction, after discussing and explaining other non-invasive alternatives, and offered to perform it at that moment. I decided to proceed with the extraction. They provided instructions for care and Dr. Vinh personally called me in the afternoon to check on my recovery. Aetna Insurance (PPO) covered most of the procedure, and the out of pocket expense was literally 1/10th of what I would have been subjected to at my previous dentist. I am grateful to not be in pain, and would reccomend Sequoia Smiles and Dr. Vinh as a primary dentist.

I also have a feeling in probably every possible tooth in my mouth. The staff is so warm and has an amazing chair side manner. Cleanings no longer feel like a painful, dreadful prodding and picking. Tldr: Scam Dentist, avoid at all cost…read more I made an appointment for my bi-annual cleaning through my new dental plan. Been going to my old dentist every 6 months with no problem. The office specifically scheduled a time slot with the dental hygienist. When I arrived they did all the usual X-rays and check up. Then comes the hygienist, she explained how my gum is inflamed and needs gengival treatment. And comes out to an additional $335. I said I don't need the treatment and need to think about it. So they said ok think about it and call us back. So I asked if I can get my regular cleaning done, and they said no. Seems very strange how if I refuse this service they offered they won't do my regular cleaning. I even asked further does my insurance cover this gengival cleaning and they said yes, but they don't cover the paste to put on it daily afterward so I asked ok then Can I get the gengival cleaning and not use the paste. They said No. I asked ok then Can I get my regular cleaning, they said it's my first visit, a cleaning is not gauranteed to be on the same day. Well what? I made the appointment for a cleaning and the office specifically schedule the time slot with you, a dental hygenist. So that's when I got up and left. Looking back at the list they even sneaked in oral cancer screening?? Rinse mont for $30?? Very sneaky. I looked up more of the periostom item and saw they have a partnership with sage dental. So that's why they are pushing all these unnecessary treatment on us. Just avoid it if you can. Looks like I will make the longer drive just to go back to my old dentist that doesn't try and scam me.
