Great selection of bikes and running gear. We stopped by today to tune up my budget road bike. They service any bike brand but sell higher end models. I have been in search of a new triathlon shop ever since Bonzai closed a few years ago and I am happy to announce that I have found my new go-to place. I have been out of the triathlon world for about a decade but I have slowly been making my way back into the scene. Looking at my old equipment I decided that it was time to upgrade my triathlon shoes. I went to Transition Tri looking for the new Shimano TR-901 - and they had them (which was impressive because everyone else was sold out). Steve easily took 90 mins helping me try on a few different tri shoes, a few helmets and a few other things. Steve also gave me the low down on what has been happening in the tri world over the last 10 year - over those 90 mins - he reminded me why I fell in love with triathlons ten years ago. I had a most excellent experience at this shop today. Just as I was getting ready to jump on the W&OD, I discovered I had a broken spoke. When i walked in the shop, Andrew greeted me and had my ride racked and repaired in no time. Love this place! I'm not a tri guy but this shop is great if you are looking for a friendly bike shop. Staff is super friendly and very willing to answer questions. I first came here to get some help with my friends wahoo kicker. There was some damage from shipping and they contacted wahoo and got a replacement. Really appreciate that they reached out to the manufacturer and took care of it. Bill the mechanic gave me a quick class on my first set of tubular wheels and how to tape them up. I was able to get in the same day for some simple maintenance ( new handlebar tape, new rotors on my wheel set and a new cassette ). Needless to say I have found a place to take care all my cycling needs and look forward to seeing them again soon. read more

I stopped in yesterday just to see what Transition Tri had in inventory as I was browsing for a Tri bike to get back in to the sport, Steve (the owner) took the time to chat, get to know where I was, what I was looking for and thinking about. they had one of my top potential bikes available, Steve took a couple hours out with me to adjust, fit, discuss and really see if it was going to work. Left with the bike! kitted out with the pedals, accessories etc I have been used to when racing. they had it all there and available. Great engagement from the staff, good inventory mix. The store has the full fit capability, now I have the bike, I'll take a few weeks riding and go back for the free full fit, they also provide a follow on 2 year mechanical adjustment service. I can't not say enough good things about Transition Triathlon. If you are a triathlete/multi-sport athlete in the DC/nova area it is well worth the drive to beautiful Leesburg. I've been searching for and putting off getting a tri bike for a while now... And sadly it's mostly because every bike shop experience I've ever had has been somewhere between not great and just miserable. I often feel like triathletes are treated as second rate when they walk into a bike store that doesn't specialize in catering to triathletes (or just people who aren't in the true "cyclist" category) Anyway after reading the other awesome Yelp reviews I made the drive from DC, and it was worth every minute. Steve and Alex are awesome and quite obviously have a love for everything triathlon. They patiently worked with me for hours, letting me test bikes, making sure everything was fit correctly and so on all while sharing great insight and just in general being awesome to work with. As people came in and out during the day (I was there a while!) they were more then welcoming to anyone stopping in and yet they had a ton of customers that they have built relationships with. This is the kind of store I've been searching for for years. I walked away happily with a Cervelo and I'll be back out that way often to go ride and stop into TT! read more

Outstanding customer service here. Started coming here after my credit card was skimmed and used to make a fraudulent purchase by a store employee at Spokes, Etc. at the Villages of Leesburg. I don't know the man's name that helped me here but he was extremely courteous and professional. This is my bike store from now on and I know don't have to worry about my credit card being skimmed here. Update 7/21/18: I took my bike in to be worked on and the mechanic, Bill, was excellent and very efficient. He got my bike finished before I expected it to be and called me and told me what was involved as it was an unusual issue; but he did some research, called Shimano and solved the problem. read more

I have been a customer at at least six other bike shops in the DC-area: Transition Triathlon is the best. I dropped my bike off today for a shimmy in the head tube (which I probably caused), and had a nice sit-down with Bill, the mechanic. By the time I left, he already had it apart and was working the fixes: what a pro. In my experience, you just don't get personalized service like this anywhere. Last summer, a competitor bike shop refused to work on my bike, because of a perceived crack in the frame. When I went to discuss it with them, the three mechanics on duty blew me off and proceed to talk about lunch plans until I was forced to interrupt them. I decided right then to find another Felt dealer and get a second opinion. Steve and his team at Transition Tri confirmed that the frame could be cracked, but then worked with Felt to get an brand-new frame under warranty--free of charge. Essentially, I have a brand-new 2019 aero-bike now. I cannot express how refreshing it is to frequent a bike shop where the client comes first. I have relied on bike shops for maintenance and sales for years--always with immediate or eventual disappointment--it's a hard thing to get right in the performance cycling industry and culture, I think. They have built a very virtuous enterprise in Transition Tri. I'm sure being a locally owned shop isn't always easy, but I much I appreciate what they are doing. I have always dreaded going to the bike shop, now I don't. Today, the staff even invited my dog, Clarence, in for a bit for water an a belly rub. Awesome. read more

I found the best place that fits both my needs and my shopping style. This place is the best! As you may know from my previous reviews, customer service matters above all else. I like people that make you feel welcome (without being overbearing!), and are knowledgeable about running, biking, and swimming individually, or in the sense of a triathlon. The folks at TT hit all the marks and have a neighborhood type environment going on as well. You can tell by all the folks coming in off the nearby trail and the use of first names. They know their customers. The folks at TT have professionally assisted me in finding the right gear for the right event, have significantly impacted my thoughts on nutrition, have provided training on Newton running, and bicycle maintenance training. They are really well rounded. If you're in to Running, Biking and Swimming, I highly recommend you hit this shop. You won't be disappointed! read more

Transition Triathlon occupies the space of the former Gallery 222 on South King St. The transformation inside, from a rabbit's warren of artists' nooks and crannies to an open and inviting retail space with a huge training room is pretty incredible. What's also incredible are how immediately friendly, helpful, and supremely knowledgable the proprietors are. In a few short minutes, we had gone through several running shoe varieties, discussed what was suitable for specific running styles, looked over a few bike frames, were given a tour of the workout room, got to meet "Critter", and were on our way with some great purchases and and a smile. This is how shopping in a small town is supposed to be and these guys really know their business. If you run, bike, or swim (or all three) anywhere in Loudoun Co., you should give them a look. read more

Situated in Old Town Leesburg, this place is off the main road. They have a fairly large triathlon selection as well as yoga apparel. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. With the Internet, it's easy to compare similar brands that they have in-store and see the extreme cost difference; it's so hard for specialty athletic stores to do well these days. There's not many triathlon-specific stores, so if your in the area and looking to physically see products, this is the place to go. read more

Drove an hour to get here to get help with bike assembly for a frame set I purchased for my wife. Horrible service. I was directed to speak to the guy named Bill in service. He was so preoccupied with the bike he was working on and said he'd take my contact info and would send me something via email. Basically, telling me he had stuff to do and would get back to me if he had time. He never sent me anything. Wasted trip that ended up helping me because I know now I would not go back here and would suggest to anyone to look someplace else close by. Excellent service and reasonable prices. This is my first foray into the Triathlons and Steve could not have been more helpful. I went in looking for a tri-bike and had a price in mind and Steve was able to nail it. He called and ordered the bike I wanted and about a week later their mechanic had it assembled. I came in and met with Steve for about an hour and half for the fitting. He was very thorough in fitting the bike to me and my body mechanics. He took some time to fix a few items on my bike (cables, derailleur, etc). We went through numerous saddles and adjustments. Steve took his time to make sure everything was just right. Also, he has took time to answer all my questions, discuss different races and training methods. Transition Triathlon has earned a loyal customer. It is my go to triathlon store and I make sure to stop by every time I'm in that neck of the W&OD Trail! read more

My nephews from Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore was riding the WO&D Trail. We saw the bike shop and was in dire need of having our detailers adjusted. We just popped in to the bike shop and they were more than willing to help us. The customer service was fantastic; the staff was friendly, the store was clean and well stocked. I had always heard good things about them, but I was hesitant to go all the way out to Leesburg. I am so glad that I made the 30+ mile trek out to them! Steve was incredibly helpful, professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. I knew so little about bikes and he taught me so much with out talking down to me. This is review is exclusively for TT's bicycle repair service. Took my daughter's bicycle in to fix a broken brake caliper. Was told it would cost $165. The bicycle is new on-line for $150. I walked out shaking my head. Drove one mile to Plum Grove Recyclery and had the bike fixed for $40. You be the judge. read more

With my work schedule I could only come in on a weekend, Transition Triathlon was the only shop in NoVA that would do a fitting on Sunday. They also had the best price in the area for a fitting. I spoke with both Steve and Alex prior to coming in, they were inviting and accommodating in every way. Taking time to address my concerns and needs, and fitting into my schedule. A much better experience than the other shops I called who tried to fit me into their limited schedules. I met with Steve for about an hour and half for the fitting. He was very thorough in fitting the bike to me and my body mechanics. He took some time to fix a few items on my bike (cables and housings, derailleur, etc). We went through numerous saddles and adjustments. Steve took his time to make sure everything was just right. Even with this work and a new tire, I came out spending less than I would at any of the competing bike shops on just the fit. Transition Triathlon may be a bit further for me than most of the bike shops in NoVA, but they have earned a loyal customer in me. After a buddy told me about an experience he had a few weeks ago with his rear derailleur cable breaking during a Saturday group ride; I had to check them out. Not to mentioned they are an authorized Cervelo dealer (bonus!) since I was in search for my first road bike and they happen to have the exact model I was looking for. Transition Tri has been amazing to me during next triathlon journey's. It all started last summer with my old bike giving me major issues before my first Tri ever. Steve took me in as a walk in and fixed my bike literally 3 days before my race and had me at ease. I was able to remain calm and I finished the race with my bike in one piece. But it didn't stop there! I got fitted for the most amazing GURU two months later and he motivated me to sign up for my first half ironman. I asked him if I should do Eagleman and his response was 'why not' . His answer is basically what got me to do it. Why not right ... ? Steve and Alex got me to believe in myself and every two weeks I began to collect my new gear! They know I'm limited on budget and they really guided me to make sure I was safe and had the right gear. Before any race I go to get my mental prep talk. I wear the Tri kit proudly because I believe in them! I only let Steve touch my bike and he checks it every few months to make sure it's still safe . Now that I'm running more Alex introduced me to Newtons! I will never run again in anything but those. It's like running on clouds in heaven. I love everything about this store. Because they didn't try to up-sell me and because they were honest in assessing my bike's issues, I decided to buy as many things as I could in one go.
