First off, when it comes to automotive repair, I'm usually a little worried if I can trust the mechanic, probably because I have no clue if what I'm wing told or charged is correct. The maintenance light on my Chevy came on needing a Transmission fluid change. We didn't know where to go and starting searching the web. Reviews are important to us and hope this review will direct you to Transmission Technology. We found Transmission Technology on Yelp and scheduled our appt., it was about a month out and believe me the wait is worth it. When we took my Chevy in, Vic thoroughly explained the process- in detail and told us he will call to give us updates. He called and texted with a diagnostic report so we knew exactly what was going on. He told us what my vehicle needed to run to the best capability. While working on my Chevy, Transmission Technology sent pictures of my vehicle on the rack and the trans fluid- before and after. (Side note: We did research to learn what the industry charges on Transmission service.) At pickup, Vic went over the order and what took place. He told us the cost in the beginning so we knew what was expected. The cost is very reasonable, fair, and above all the service exceeded what we paid. Transmission Technology took care of my vehicle from start to finish- even checked the other fluid levels. We will be sending our other vehicles there for servicing and highly recommend you do too. Vic is a gem on the island and provides amazing service that blows you away. I thought we had a transmission leak on our 2006 Toyota Sienna, but when my wife went in to have it inspected, Vic tracked it back to a coolant leak. He took pictures and sent them to me, explaining that the transmission is solid, but needs fresh fluids and filter. He showed me where the coolant leak originated, which is a common failure point behind a plate covering the engine heater port for those in cold climates. Be sure to schedule your service asap since they're always busy. But it's totally worth the wait for the thorough. --- Update after taking our Sienna in for service: The tune-up was so thorough and Vic explained every detail, down to the consistency of the bottom of the pan contents. It now shifts so smoothly and like new, which is amazing for having 170,000 miles and being 14 years old! Taking my Frontier in for a tune-up next month and will always trust Vic to keep my vehicles running all over the island. Having a mechanic that is so trustworthy and capable is like gold! read more

I scheduled my 14 year old Dodge truck in for a standard service since I'd been working it pretty hard. I was refferd by a German Auto repair shop to Vic in Kona and I called him about my 2003 V W Jetta because my transmission was really acting up. He told me over the phone just about everything you can imagine about my auto transmission. I knew right then he was the guy. I made an appointment and took it in as soon as they had an opening. October 1st of 2019. They spent about an hour or so on diagnosising and called me and said everything checked out just fine. But I still had the issue. He recommended that I do a complete flush and filter replacement. I really grilled him and he said if it was his he would. I trusted his judgment and had him do it. I am so happy I did. My transmission went out in my diesel pick up. After dropping the oil pan, to take a look at the damage, I found a broken piece which turned out to be a broken band adjuster. This isn't something that the auto parts stores carry and I needed to get my truck fixed asap, so I called the first transmission shop I could think of. Expecting to get the "welp, you have to bring your truck down so we can take a look" response, Vic answered the phone and was surprisingly considerate of my situation. After describing the broken piece, he knew exactly what I was talking about and offered to sell me the part. I went to the shop and Vic was busy outside working on a car but he stopped what he was doing, took me inside the shop, provided me the parts I needed and showed me how to install it in my trans.
