Went to Trapped Puzzle Rooms for a small birthday thing. We had three adults and 2 kids (9 and 11). We did the Wizard's Tower escape room and had a super fun time. The puzzles make you think, but the 9 and 11 year olds were still able to help out and didn't feel like it was too hard for them. The puzzles were very hands on, which was very fun. The Montessori kid in me always loves that. The room itself was so cool with a bunch of secrets and secret places hidden around! Really felt like you were in a wizard's toward! Cool lighting, walls, and ceiling. AND a staircase in the room which was awesome! We finished in under an hour (which we were kind of shocked by, because we thought we were taking a long time). We did the Harry Potter themed room, 'Wizards Tower,' with a group of 6 friends who are HP fans and we had an absolute blast solving the puzzles to ultimately find the Headmaster's wand and save the magical world! The room was so well done with creative and interactive mysteries. It truly felt like we were in a magical room, uncovering hidden clues and surprises. It was so exciting to uncover clues to get closer to completing our mission. The best part is that it was all Harry Potter themed which made it extra magical! We had 1 hr to complete and we escaped in the nick of time! Booking was easy and done online. It was easy to find parking nearby. The staff are super friendly and guide you through everything you need to know. I absolutely loved my first escape room experience! We did the Nutcracker Nightmare and this is the second time I've been to trapped. Cody, our host, was great and fun as Jack the Nutcracker - this was a super fun themed room! We did get unsolicited hints since many of the tasks are things we could mess around with, there wasn't super clear direction on what puzzle to solve first so I appreciated the nudge along. We had a group of 6 people that can sometimes be too much. Cost was about $30 a person which is way better than other rooms we've been to. I'm a bit late to the Puzzle Room game, but oh my this was so much fun!! We did the Heist game to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were four of us - which was a good number. I think 4-6 friends is perfect for this activity. Two of us were new to puzzle rooms, while two had done it before. The staff prepped us for the activity and away we went. This puzzle was a series of rooms that opened up to each other as the game went along. We were charged with finding a stolen painting and breaking in to retrieve it. I am glad that I had a friend who knew how these games work, because it made starting things off easier. Once I caught on to who the puzzles work I was able to contribute. If no one in your group is experienced, that's okay. The staff is monitoring the game and you can ask for hints if you need the help. It really was fun. It's an interactive activity to bring friends together that requires teamwork, a bit of strategy and collective brainwork. read more

Fun puzzle box at the lodge! We are multiple repeat puzzles at trapped puzzle room. Their super cool Lodge of Lazurus Crowe, has not disappointed. Tonight instead an escape room, we did a play and stay puzzle box. Got to enjoy beer and cocktails while we unlocked the mystery box #1. It took us 2 hours of solving multiple puzzles to solve the mystery of the missing child. Lots of fun. Staff are welcoming and attentive. After the box we ordered some shareable, more beer and played a few of the board games to keep the evening going. The ambiance made you feel like you were actually apart of the mystery, and the puzzles were fun to uncover. It was challenging but after awhile we were able to figure out the puzzles. We have never been to an escape room. On our two-year wedding anniversary, my husband decided to surprise me by booking a room at Trapped Puzzle Rooms. Per my husband, it was last-minute and he found this place with excellent reviews. Overall, I had a lot of fun and would visit again. Outside exterior is a small building/house. It is street-parking and there is a 2-hour limit street parking along the residential area around the corner. Upon entry, the employees were very welcoming. The place was very clean. We were asked to sign an electric waiver. They have lockers with key locks available. We were paired with another couple, which was great. (More brains to help solve the puzzle.) It is recommended that you arrive 15-minutes early to sign the waiver and go through a small orientation. We did the Harry Potter theme room. The room was very clean. I loved the construction and overall design. Overall, it was very fun and my husband and I hope to visit their Minneapolis location to do the other Harry Potter one. read more

Tried the Harry Potter themed escape room with some friends and it was so much fun!!! I love the attention to detail and all the fun decor they put in the rooms. The people are also nice enough to give you clues along the way when they see you are stuck. We finished in 1 hr 1 min, but time flew by. There were little kinks (ie: things getting stuck or delayed reaction) but not enough to hinder the experience. There's street and lot parking available and the escape rooms are all in a cute little house. Overall, I would definitely come back to this location for a different room or try out the Diagon Alley one in Minneapolis! read more

My boyfriend picked up a take home puzzle box - the in between version. It was awesome! So fun, it took us about 3 hours. We used hints for a few of the puzzles just to either give us a nudge or so we knew we were going in the right direction. We started with spies experience took a group of friend and our kids to the Harry Potter experience and then just completed the kids version of the Video Game Mayhem as a family. We've love every one of them! We even spend time afterward talking about the way each room was put together. Surprises s around every corner, yet solvable puzzles engage people of all ages. Clues required our game master to manually unlock things -- rather than what is accomplished through novice tagging techniques (magnets, NC devices, etc.). Let me preface this by saying I love puzzles - jigsaw, su doku, all of 'em. I even spent a lot of time doing iPhone app escape room challenges. So when a real escape room popped up on my radar via living social, I was like "Was this created just for me??" It was super fun - my friends and I had a blast and definitely felt challenged. I was expecting codes, riddles, etc - more direct problem solving like in my iPhone games, but some hints were really subtle, which made it all the more rewarding when someone - definitely not always me - figured it out. I would love to go back to try (and dominate) another escape room. I would also like to add its in a prime location for grabbing food or a drink before/after - it's surrounded by an abundance of tasty establishments. My only qualms - I do wish the place had been slightly cleaner - it was a bit dusty. And I wasn't prepared to be in a big group with strangers - we still had loads of fun, of course, but it wasnt made obvious to anyone (including the strangers) that we would be in a larger group than those we bought tickets with directly. I wish that was clear when I booked. It might actually be nice if there were options for booking as a private group (sorry if you do and I just missed it). I recently locked six teenagers in the 'Library' trapped puzzle room. What can I say? It felt good locking them in a room and being on the outside, where I could watch them explore the room on surveillance cameras and listen to them solve puzzles.It was a great way to celebrate a 16th birthday with a group of teens. It kept them busy for nearly an hour -- and everyone that attended was anxious to return and try other rooms. Puzzle room workers were friendly and helpful. We did the Video Game Mahem room for my sister's birthday. It was a lot of fun, however, we called to ask about accessibility, and they were able to adapt one aspect of the room, but they didn't mention some of the puzzles require physical tests and hand eye coordination. This was fun, but only one of the four of us could successfully do those aspects. I won't give more away, but make sure one of your party is abled. Visited for work. We did "A Very Potter Escape Room" which was perfect for me as I am almost done reading the series to my 7 year-old. Though, the room was easily solvable without knowing the Potter stuff I knew, but I was able to see all the neat little nods that the room had, so it works both ways. The staff person we worked with was very knowledgeable and friendly. The room itself was well done, and just hard enough without being impossible. My daughter and her friends just loved the Harry Potter room. We booked the whole room for a private party for her birthday. They were very accommodating to my mishap of not turning my clock ahead for daylight saving time and gave us an extra half hour to get there (which was really really appreciated). If you in the mood for a fun/challenging time you need to try Trapped. We were in a group for the "Apartment room", it does help to be in a larger group. They make it difficult but not too hard to figure some stuff out, and can give clues if you get stuck. My 14 year old nephew ended up finding things without even needing clues. I do think that these puzzle rooms are not for young kids, some of the puzzles/codes etc take a bit of knowledge to solve them. Woah! Ok, this was surprisingly awesome. The puzzle room was hard enough to feel mentally challenged, but easy enough not to feel like an idiot. They have 2 rooms and we did The Apartment. I heard that the Library one is bigger and people split off more. AND... I heard they are making a Harry Potter themed one?!?! OMG. Anyway. I do feel like the space itself could be cooler. Its not scary by any means, but The Apartment sort of just felt like an apartment. Too much so. Toothpaste in the bathroom upstairs (which is not apart of the game) sort of thing. And lots of exposed cords. BUT, for a really fun time with friends (albeit worth more like $15 not $24), check it out! read more

I won't give it away but we did have some clues pointing us to right direction. Our host would spy in camera to make sure we were not struggling too hard. Wow. So much fun and so creative and original! You're working hard for the entire hour and they do let you finish up a bit after the hour (they don't just cut you off at the hour). Me and four friends (all puzzle room vets) had a great time doing the Library this afternoon. The puzzles were well designed, the room was beautifully furnished, and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you've been to Escape MSP it's a comparable level of skill, just a slightly smaller scale so smaller groups work well. Like other puzzle rooms, there is the risk of having people added to your group if you don't book up the slot - try for an early or late time if you want to try to avoid this. A creative and original experience that was a surprisingly great time. My group did the Harry Potter room which I knew nothing about the books, movies, or puzzles themselves. I went in totally blind and little by little my group navigated through the room trying to decode it's mysteries. You are able to ask for hints which we didn't but we were given little bits of information when it seemed we had come to a dead end. It was shocking. After we finished milo tried to attack me with a torch. Turns out it was just a joke but milo also held the torch up to my face until we exited . The staff were all laughing and in the room, they went on speaker and as loud as they could they yelled BOO!!!!!! Yt his is why it was the best trip ever. Super fun! I went to Trapped! for girls night and we all had a great time! We did Spies v Spies at the St. Paul location. It was fun to compete against another team. Even though we were combined with a couple we didn't know, we all worked together really well and we managed to escape the room in time! Group of 8 did the Heist. We all enjoyed it! It took each of us to solve all the puzzles and finish in time (we did, with 15 seconds to spare). We had two 13yo boys, three 15yo girls, a 21yo girl and two parents. The kids all said it was "really good" and asked to do another one. It took creative thinking and cooperation to solve. You can take your cell phone with you during the activity if you need it, but you won't want to be distracted. It is a little pricey, but it is fun for everyone. read more
