We spent our day fishing up and down the Kookanoosa for a friend's BD. Earlier in the day we had looked at the reviews of several restaurants in the area. We are local, but because we love to cook don't eat out often, but we were going fishing and were going to be out, we decided to eat out for this special occasion. We headed back to Eureka from outside of Libby at about 8:20pm figuring we could make it to Trappers in about an hour, hoping to still find it open for dinner. We arrived at about 9:30p on a Wednesday and it was still open and were welcomed in for dinner. This place is cozier than it looks from posted photos. We ordered Brisket Nacho appetizer very tasty, 2 - 14oz Cowboy Ribeye Steak and a Brisket Mac and cheese. The steaks were cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth tender. The mac and cheese was very tasty with the brisket and a sweet BBQ sauce. The bar tab was high $$$, the food was prepared nicely, the staff was very friendly. We sat indoors, but they have really nice patio seating. Not a huge menu, but we would return to try the sandwhices, etc. All and all we would recommend the vibe of the old bar. Not a TV fan you can face away from the gi-nourmous big screen or sit outside. And oh! If you are having a birthday. bring your own cake/dessert they did not have any. read more

This was recommended by the folks at the place I'm staying at down the street. Overall, a good meal for a tired body after riding all day. It's an older building with a very cool old wood bar, we'll go with saloon style. It's a bit on the darker side, light wise, which is appropriate for place. They have plenty of tvs inside for watching about any game that is on. There is also a fair amount of outdoor seating, along with a mini stage for concerts. I was met right walking in, seated and had a drink right away. I had a few ideas of what I might want and asked the waitress for her go to of the bunch. She said brisket Mac and cheese, so I went with it. A bit later it was sitting in front of me. This is all scratch made and it was very good. The brisket was cooked perfectly and they added just the right amount of bbq sauce to the top. The Mac and cheese was very good as well. It got pretty busy after I got there and drink refills were slow, but I wasn't in a hurry. The staff all seemed nice and hard working. There was quite a lot of flies in the place, but I seemed to be the only annoyed by them. Even with that, I would recommend this place for a very good meal. read more

The mashed potatoes were cold. The fries are soggy. The steak is tough and chewy and also cold. For the amount of money they want they could step up their game honestly. The beer was also very flat. read more

I've been here a few times. The service was always good but the food is hit or miss. I guess it's just what you order. My husband ordered their special the last time we were in and he did not like it. It was walleye fish with a Parmesan crust. I had a appetizer and it was fine. Our friends always have their wings and really like them, I'm just not a wings kinda person. The other visit there was a steak ordered at our table and it was said to be delicious and it looked really good. The atmosphere is that of its name. Very outdoorsy and lots of animal mounts, televisions and a big bar. Heard it's a great place on the weekends. read more

If you didn't know, the area establishments include at least one huckleberry flavored item. Thus, this burger, The Huck. I asked the server if it was super sweet and she indicated "sweet & spicy". Unfortunately, it wasn't spicy, but it wasn't very sweet either which was good. The burger was good, but I really had my heart set on spicy. The total portion was adequate, but half of what Jerry's Saloon serves in Fortine. Loved the bar atmosphere and all the wall art. read more

Great dinner tonight. Meatloaf and fish & chips . At times, this place can be a hit and miss. Good food/bad service and vice versa... tonight, despite only 1 waitress/ also the bar tender, everything went well. We got our drinks quickly and the waitress was witty and efficient. My dirty martini was made very well and even if she couldn't get right back to us, she communicated with all customers so that we knew we were not forgotten. read more

Okay place. Beer cold. Not a fan of the flat pan pizza kind of skimpy on ingredients

We were in town for a volleyball game and looked at Yelp for some dinning help. We drove almost to Canada and found this gem! The atmosphere is nice and country. The waitress was pleasant and I ordered the rib eye. The meal included salad, potato choice and veggies. It was delicious. I will make the drive from Whitefish sometime again to have a meal. read more

Not sure what's happening with trappers. It used to be the best restaurant in town. Service is still great. Food quality has definitely declined quite a bit. The burgers and fries are nothing like they were a few years back. Kinda disappointing. I got the chicken strips last time I was there. And they were straight up nasty. Cornmeal breading doesn't belong on chicken strips. It literally all fell off and I was left with some dry tough chicken. Not at all what I've experienced here before. read more

By far the worst place to visit. Took over 2 Hours to get our food.... and the place wasn't even busy. When we finally received our food - it came out in a TO GO BOX. Never eaten here before but heard and read good things. Sad to say Totally disappointed. Went with a group for st patty's day. everyone's corn beef and cabbage was cold and the veggies under cooked. Stew was Luke warm. Dry rub wings were so salty she gave them away. Only thing that got a good review was from a 6 year old who said his tots were good. Great service! We had a super nice waitress even though it was very busy. We weren't sure what to think when we showed up but the food was pretty decent. My family and I lived here for two years before we found Trappers... I don't really regret many things, But I am pretty bummed that we hadn't found this place sooner. I think of all times we were trying to find someplace to eat, and were sad we only had two or three other choices... Since finding Trappers my income has increased by 250%, and I am now considerably more attractive. (or at least that's how it feels in my head)... Tried finding Coqui's Restaurant, but they were no longer in business. SO, Mexican food at the Canadian border wasn't a hit??? Oh well, this place was purdy darn good. I had the fish tacos which were VERY flavorful. My son had the country fried steak and I tried a bite. It was also very good. Meat was tender and the gravy was awesome. Oh Trappers! First of all, let me say, I have had some of the wildest nights at Trappers! I'm from the area, and my family frequents this establishment for live music, drinks, dinner, and just to hang out away from home. The service is very friendly and attentive, the drinks are reasonable, the bar is decorated with an amazing array of traps and furry creatures, and they've got good steaks. One thing I will say, I once went here and ordered a piece of salmon (mistake I know, but I needed some Omega 3's...) and they screwed up my piece of fish not once, but TWICE. It was under cooked and the inside was still raw. However, the salmon was a new item on the menu and it was late at night so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. To fix the problem, they gave me a steak for free, which I thought was very nice and appropriate! Can't complain when eating some awesome MT Beef! One other thing to note, if you're from out of town, please don't act like a fool thinking it's the "Wild West!" I've seen quite a few crazy drunk Canadians dance on the bar, flirt rudely and aggressively with locals, and generally act ridiculous. Keep in mind that you're in a small town, and anyone who sees you tonight will laugh at you tomorrow. :) But all in all I love Trappers. It's a great place to come here at the end of the world in Montana. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, you should definitely stop by for a beer. read more

I'm not sure exactly what happened but almost my entire family got sick eating here (there were 7 of us). It was like no other food poisoning I've ever had. The only way to describe the feeling was disgusting, like our stomachs were full of mucus or something (I know, disgusting to hear, imagine how it feels), we were vomiting and had diarrhea all night and still felt gross two days later. The only ones who didn't get sick had the prime rib, which makes me think it's their griddle or fry oil or something. Maybe the food was old? My poor 1 year old even got sick. The waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere was great, but I will never eat here again as long as I live. Ugh. read more

My family stayed at the Wilderness club in Eureka and they have a very limited menu at their clubhouse. We ended up going to Trappers every night for dinner. I think they are short on staff but our waitress Tina was super efficient and we had zero complaints. The menu made everyone in my family happy and there's a place outside for kids to run around and play games. The food was very good. I would definitely come back. read more

With Roger and Tina at the helm Trappers has changed to a place to be proud of with great food, fun staff and the band season has just started the the 2012 summer season and with the new outdoor bar and sodded park like area with a fire pit for the evenings and horse shoe pits all day long, not to mention all the tv screens for viewing what ever sport one likes. Good Food!! We had the Brisket Sandwich special for "Linner" (Lunch/Dinner). The sandwich was huge and tasty and they loaded your plate full of fries. Service was exceptional and very friendly. We got into town late after a long day on the road and found Trappers was the only place open after 9pm. The waitress was very friendly and nice, although she did spend quite a bit of time with one guy at the bar. The prime rib was the best I think I've ever had. It practically melted in your mouth. So we gave trappers another chance based on the insistence of some friends. We are so glad we did, the service and food are so much better. They have really upped their game and are now our go to dinner place. Try the buffalo chips or anything with the white gravy on it.... It has bacon in it. read more
