Sometimes we just get really lucky when we pick a restaurant and we really did this time. The restaurant was absolutely everything we expected and wanted to be - loaded with charm and ambience. Our server was welcoming and delightful. She recommended a delicious Ricchi Lugana 2022 wine to go with our dinners. My husband had the Spaghetti alla Nerano, which is a creamy, cheesy pasta dish that features fried zucchini, Provolone cheese, garlic, and fresh basil. I really wanted to try something indictive to Naples and went with the Ziti alla Genovese. This is actually a very old recipe, apparently dating back to the 15th century. In researching when I got home, I discovered that the Genovese sauce is an onion and meat-based sauce where the beef, onions, carrots, celery are slowly cooked and reduced for hours, until the sauce becomes creamy, sweet and almost caramelized. It was the most delectable sauce I have ever tasted. My husband and I shared both dishes and were extremely impressed with them. We decided this was our best meal in Naples. Thank you Trattoria Speranzella for giving us a memorable last meal in Naples. read more
