All were good. The salad was fresh and crunchy (with lettuce, fennel, radicchio, carrot in a light vinaigrette). The sun-dried tomato bruschetta was delicious (with soft cheese, drizzled with honey). The burrata was also amazing (tomatoes tossed in police oil and salt, surrounding a fresh creamy burrata). We had pastas (gnocchi and ravioli fungi) and chicken. Everything was incredible! We started with the bruschetta and eggplant Parmesan, both were amazing but I can see why their eggplant parm is one of the most popular/best dishes. Every bite was AMAZING. The servers and staff that we came in contact with were wonderful and attentive. The place itself is nicely decorated, and has a very clean bathroom. I like how staff stays by the door to welcome people in, but they don't badger people on the sidewalk to come in like other places. We hadn't planned to go here, but a nearby (fancy) restaurant was closed on Monday's when we got there. It was raining and this restaurant was across the street. We ran in and they warmly welcomed us and seated us at the kitchen table. What a great experience. Carmen, the owner made us feel so welcome and explained the fixed price complete dinner menu, for 2 which was a bargain at 20 Euros each. We started with Burrata with cherry tomatoes which was delicious. We each picked one of the pasta dishes, the gnocchi sorrentino and the ravioli dish. They were both amazing and huge portions. We also tried the meatballs and they were delicious too. The dinner included a dessert choice of tiramisu or pannacotta. The whole vibe was like eating in someone's kitchen. Me and my friends showed up (a group of 10) unannounced where we were immediately catered to and had a table set up for us. The service was amazing with all the staff and to top it all off the food could not have been better. Out of all 10 of us we agreed unanimously it was 5 stars. Really great service! We took a cooking class here - so much fun! Carmen is delightful - helped us every step of the way. We came back for dinner; this lady works her tail off! I had the house specialty which was carbonara. I split it with a friend, plus an order of meatballs. They were flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the carbonara too! First meal in Sorrento and it was fabulous! Perfect way to start a vacation on the Amalfi coast with fresh made pasta and a delicious red wine from Sorrento. After a nightmare of airplane cancellations and constant switching of planes and airlines that included three stopovers and a long taxi ride, all I wanted was to reach Sorrento and have pasta and a glass or two of red wine. After tossing my suitcase in my hotel room, I took a walk down Corsi Italia and immediately noticed a long line out the door of this restaurant. Not wanting to wait, I continued walking for several blocks but the other restaurants were more like a pizzeria. It was a Monday night and several restaurants that offered full meals were closed. So I walked back to La Locanda del Gusto. There was still a long line which means the food is good. People don't wait in line for mediocracy. So I waited and got hungrier by the minute as I saw the meals being delivered to the tables. When I was seated, I immediately chose the fresh made scialatielli alla sorrentina, a specialty of Sorrento and when I travel I chose what the foods that are regional. Scialatielli is a noodle that resembles spaghetti but it's only 3 inches long and thicker. Sorrentina style is tomatoes, basil and mozzarella sauce so with each bite you get that cheesy goodness. It was served piping hot and it was everything I wanted it to be! Every bite flavorful and satisfying. Since I hadn't eaten all day, I was hungry so ordered a secondi of lemon chicken, another specialty in Sorrento. The chicken seemed as if it was poached in fresh lemon juice. No browning of the meat, it was white and juicy and didn't require a knife to cut. Tender with the lovely lemon flavor, I loved it. Bellisimo! The red wine my waiter recommended was the perfect accompaniment. On the dry side and well balanced. Wanting to sit outside in the covered area because of the atmosphere, it was cozy. They have lots of tables that are just inches apart from each other So know you will be sitting close to others. Worked out great because the couple sitting next to me were super friendly and we enjoyed conversations about our travels and our homes. I wanted to try the lemon tiramisu for desert but they close at 10pm which was the time I finished my meal and when they say they close at 22 hours, they mean it! Friends are joining me in Sorrento and it's highly likely a group of us will be back! Or I'll go again on my own, it was that good! read more

Chef Carmine is the ultimate host and celebrity chef. I took her cooking class at her restaurant and it was informative and enjoyable. Even though I am an experienced home cook, I learned a lot of techniques that will improve my cooking. The class was very organized and a lot of fun. We got to eat the food we prepared and there was more than enough. It was more like being a guest in her home kitchen than a formal cooking class, and her effervescent personality made this an experience to remember. Chef Carmine also prepared an amazing buffet for a family dinner for us. The food was fresh and delicious and the variety was impressive. SLIGHT RACISM BEWARE - Before we came on our Italy trip, our friend had warned us that we might face some racism (We are chinese Canadians). I didn't believe it would still happen in 2022 until I had dinner at this restaurant in Sorrento. To summarize, my group came here for dinner after seeing a decent rating on google. Wanted to rate this slightly higher because the food was good, but found the waiters to be extremely rude. After taking our order, when the food arrive, the waiters would just throw the food on the side of the table. Doesn't even tell us what is on the table and just leaves. Waiters also never came by to check whether food was good or not. We looked over to the tables next to ours (where the guests were white americans) and saw that the waiters would interact with them and ask them how the food was. We were confused why we were being treated so differently until it finally hit us that it might have to do with race. Anyway, for any asians thinking of eating here, just a fair warning. If you're white you should be fine though :) read more

This was the best and my favorite meal during our 9 days along the Amalfi coast and in Rome. The ambience, value, and quality of food were all spectacular! Located a short distance away from the main Plaza Tazzo and more touristy areas of town, this was a gem! We made a reservation on tripadvisor ahead of time so had the option of 20% off if we ordered a la carte, but we decided to go with the €30 per person special. This consisted 2 dishes per person (one starter and one main of your choice), your choice of dessert, 1 bottle of wine for 2 people, 1 bottle of water for 2 people, and limoncello. What a steal! I'm glad we made a reservation, as it was quite busy at 7pm on a weeknight in October. The atmosphere was very homey and the service was welcoming. We were given a bruschetta topped with tomato to start, which was a wonderful addition! For the starters, we had the shrimp and the mussels. Boy, the portions for the mussels was huge! I could have been full after just that! The seafood was SO fresh and perfectly cooked. For the mains, we got a fish and a pasta with mussels again, both of which were also incredible. In retrospect, I should have probably picked a different pasta as we already had a plateful of mussels. However, it was SO good that I have no regrets either. For dessert, the limoncello tiramisu and the panna cotta with fruit were just delightful - light, but so flavorful and not too sweet! It's a short 8-10 min walk from the main town center right along Corso Italia- definitely worth exploring.
