Chantecler's Trattoria Sorrento is a locals place, we were the only 4 americano's in the back of the restaurant. Before you even sit down there is a a side of olives waiting for you. This was a nice treat starting out. Next let me tell you about the bread. The bread was very fresh. It must of been cooked within the last two hours. My brother-in-law ate 3 pieces within 2 minutes. The house red wine is very good. We ordered a liter and polished it off. I recommend this as it is on 10 Euros. Being vegan, I ordered the minestrone soup. I the portion size was generous and the soup came out hot. note this was not listed on the menu, but the owner was very accommodating. The rest of our party ordered the fresh pasta dishes and Lemon Chicken with vegetables. The food arrived hot. The fresh pasta with spicy Marina sauce was flavorful. All of our plates were empty. Overall I give this place 4 stars for the quality of the food and reasonable prices.

Cozy restaurant tucked away in one of Sorrento's small streets. We stumbled in around 9:30 on a weeknight and there were plenty of tables available in their two main dining rooms. We ordered a half carafe of wine, a bottle of water, a mussels appetizer, two seafood pasta dishes, tiramisu and a limoncello and spent around 40 euro. The seafood dishes all tasted fresh, and the pastas were big enough but not heavy at all. The tiramisu was delicious and the limoncello we ordered was provided free of charge. Although the staff was not too friendly, we had about 3 people taking care of us throughout the evening and could ask for whatever we needed. Would definitely go again for a casual night out in Sorrento.

The passive aggressive pepper put into our unwanted limoncello.

So our first meal here would have earned them 4-5 stars because it was one of our favorite meals: delicious food with fun and friendly service at a reasonable price. We went back for more a couple nights later. It was quieter and service was slower. Gnocchi and clams lacked flavor and the fish while well cooked was also lacking flavor. Complimentary bruschetta was really tough with old tomatoes. When we asked for the bill the owner/manager offered us limoncello which we politely declined 3 times. My husband watched him start to pour us a shot and again insisted, no Grazie. Then he brought it to our table and went and grumpily sat down and ignored our request for the check. The limoncello had what appeared to be pepper in it and we had to wait another 15 min for the check from another server. Sadly despite our nice experience the first time I don't recommend this place due to rude service.

I went on Rick Steves' recommendation and could not have been more let down. Poor service and a lackluster meal.

Found this down an alley based on a guidebook recomnendation. In our group of 4 we got pasta and fish dishes and they were all very good.

Having visited multiple places in Italy and Sicily the last time, this place stood out as one of the favorite spots on our trip. Of course we had to stop by again, and we were not disappointed. When in Sorrento, lemon pasta is a must, but I have the say that the true star was La Genovese pasta, which was recommended by our server. My husband still liked lemon pasta best, which means you really can't go wrong. Their bread was also delicious, particularly the white bread and the breadsticks, and they give you balsamic vinegar and olive oil for it. Considering most of the bread we had in Italy was surprisingly disappointing, it's exciting to eat somewhere that the food is good from start to finish. They also gave us one scoop of limoncello and one scoop of lemon gelato for dessert. Both were delicious, but my favorite was the lemon gelato. This is our second time back, and we would not hesitate to eat here again the next time we're in Sorrento. Servers were also friendly and helpful. The food does take a while, but that goes to show that it all is freshly made. This place is great whether it's for a casual dining experience or for date night. They also have free WiFi, just ask them for the info. I love that it's also a family establishment, and family members work at the restaurant. I'm already looking forward to my next visit here.

I made a reservation on Google but when I showed up, they didn't have our reservation, apparently they rejected the reservation which is crazy because I'm so used to just making the reservation online and it's automatically confirmed whereas this place indeed sent me a rejection email earlier in the day saying they couldn't confirm the reservation - not something I've ever experienced before since I always just assumed when you make the reservation on Google, it's already confirmed automatically but I will definitely pay closer attention to my emails in the future. Luckily they were able to fit us in but said we had to be done eating in an hour which was fine with me as we weren't trying to have a long dinner. I got the mixed seafood grill and most of it was dry and slightly overcooked, not much flavor. The grilled vegetables were just the cold appetizer grilled vegetables. The homemade pasta with sausage was alright but not amazing. The ambiance was a nice family restaurant with live music. Kind of tucked away down a side street in Sorrento, but close to our hotel. Our waiter was really friendly and funny, that's the only reason I'm giving this four stars as the overall meal was probably closer to 3 or 3.5.

To start, we had burrata, bruschetta and mixed salad. All were good. The salad was fresh and crunchy (with lettuce, fennel, radicchio, carrot in a light vinaigrette). The sun-dried tomato bruschetta was delicious (with soft cheese, drizzled with honey). The burrata was also amazing (tomatoes tossed in police oil and salt, surrounding a fresh creamy burrata). We had pastas (gnocchi and ravioli fungi) and chicken. I had the ravioli, which was delicate and scrumptious. Everyone enjoyed their meals, though the chicken was very simple. Finally the service! We were greeted with warmth and the service right through was perfect. Thank you!

I like how staff stays by the door to welcome people in, but they don't badger people on the sidewalk to come in like other places. We're thinking of going back even though we only have a night or two left in Sorrento, it was just that good!
