We went here to celebrate our 29th anniversary and the reviews we read ahead were helpful and for the most part spot on. We weren't expecting valet service when we pulled in but there it was. No other option actually. It was a nice touch. We walked inside and gave them our name. We had made a reservation on Open Table hoping to get a seat by the window so we'd have a bit of a view of the creek. She handed us a card for our anniversary and led us to our table. We didn't get the window but we were the next row from it facing that way. Not a total disappointment. Our servers were Stella and Dillan. It was Stella's third day on the job and she did great. Just one tiny hiccup which she apologized profusely for. We assured her it was no big deal and laughed it off. They were great at keeping our water glasses full and checked on us regularly. We started off with some pretzel bread and whipped butter. The bread was so soft. I had the lobster bisque. It was wonderful. Hot soup was great. It's so often barely warm in restaurants. Plenty of bits of lobster and a few larger pieces. It was very creamy and just the right amount of sweetness to it. It didn't need a thing. My husband had the French onion soup which is another of my favorites so of course we had to swap bowls a couple times to share with each other. His was great as well. The stringy cheese was perfect. It was a good size portion had good flavor just not as many onions as I would expect but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I ordered the 10oz Fillet Mignon and my husband got the NY Strip. Both of us ordered them medium. Mine was slightly less cooked than his but it was thicker so I thought that made sense. It had a crispy char on the outside. Not sure if that's what made it seem a bit tougher than fillets I usually get or not but it did seem that way. Not as melt in your mouth as I'm used to a fillet being. My husband enjoyed his strip and gave me a bite to try. It was also good. He loved the char. We also ordered the au gratin potatoes to share after reading so many reviews about them. They were a good accompaniment. Plenty to share. In fact we were getting so full we brought a few bites of steak and a bit of potatoes home with us because we wanted to save room for dessert. When we opened the card they had given us a free dessert as a gift for our anniversary. It was for the triple chocolate mousse. My husband had that and I ordered my favorite, crème brûlée!! Both were delicious. We ordered a coffee to go with and it was perfect. The chocolate mousse was just the right amount of bitter dark chocolate to balance it out. The crème brûlée was perfectly crystallized on top and nice and creamy inside. I was so full but there was no way I was letting any of it go to waste. We went through the bar on our way out. We did enjoy the decor. Especially the painted portrait walls. I loved the all the Crystal chandeliers throughout the entire restaurant. It was a nice upscale vibe. Sophisticated yet a bit edgy. What a wonderful "old fashioned' evening. We sat at the bar and my friend knew Courtney from where he used to work. We were there for several hours as they had entertainment, and his service was phenomenal!, not just for drinks. Started with a wedge salad that had a vinaigrette based dressing which was perfect. All of the employees were friendly and accommodating. However, I do not think this place is worth the money. Steak was good and asparagus was great but was not worth $160. The $16 Caesar salad had anchovies, which was not listed on the menu, and ruined the entire salad. $300 for the amount of food we got for 2 people is absurd. The servers were outstanding but I can't get past feeling gouged. The insult came when they added a 4% credit card fee. I was on their web site prior to dinner so I brought my debit card which bypasses the credit card fee. I was told the fee was for using ANY plastic and could not be removed unless I was paying cash. Then that is what the web site should say. No way to lower the tip since that is also a minimum 15% gratuity and they will modify the bill if you do. I did give the wait staff 20% because they were awesome and have nothing to do with billing decisions. I also learned that the owner has a thing for custom made Italian suits. Feels like I paid for one. Zero chance I ever go back. I can think of a dozen other places with equally great food without over charging. read more

The physical space was beautiful, kinda old-school supper club feel to the place. We went on a Sunday night so it was not very crowded. We did have a reservation, but it probably was not needed. As this was our first time dining here we decided to play it on the safe side. Food was beyond delicious. I had the seared scallops with Louisiana butter. Wife the the flounder special. We had an app of lump crab that was also excellent. Service by Taylor and Dominic was attentive without being over-bearing. Had a couple of drinks before dinner, decent enough selection and a nice glass of wine with dinner. All were good. Overall this is a true fine dining experience. Pricing is not for the faint of heart, but didn't think for the experience it was out of line. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. read more

My recent experience dinning at Lanning's was spectacular. The interior is completely remodeled since we last visited about seven years ago. The decor is certainly more modern and it's decorated very well with many Dean Martin pictures and art. We were nicely greeted, and the staff was very friendly during our entire meal. All the menu items we ordered were wonderful. We started out with the escargot which was very good and dipping the table bread into the garlic sauce was just perfect. I ordered the filet and I can say that it is on the same level as the Marble Room. My wife tried the flounder and crab special, and it was very delicious as well. The lobster mac & cheese side was better than expected so we were very pleased. The chocolate chip lava cake à la mode dessert was very rich and tasty, but and a great end to the night. One of the best parts about our experience was being greeted and having a discussion with the owner Dean Martin. He sat at our table to chat with us for a bit. Perfection. We were so grateful to be able to celebrate Valentine's Day here yesterday, and we had high expectations that definitely ended up delivering. Every touch from the way the staff notifies guests of their table to the delivery of food and wine has the utmost attention to detail - my husband who used to work at the Ritz Carlton compared the service to Ritz service so you know what to expect when you dine here - nothing but the best. For this being a fine dining steakhouse we were pleasantly surprised to see such a reasonably priced wine list - truly getting the bang for your buck and they don't mark up too high - such great options! We started with the Bella Union Cabernet which was fabulous and then ate our body weight in food. Everything was delicious - no complaints whatsoever. Cesar salad with homemade croutons (which I couldn't eat due to being GF but husband said were buttery and amazing), French onion soup which was the best we have had ever - not drowned in cheese and not too salty, fabulous flavor. We then both ordered filet medium rare and they cooke it to perfection with an amazing char on the outside. I usually order a sauce of some sort for my meat but this being my first time here I wanted to try the pure taste of the steak without any distractions and I'm so glad I did, amaazzzzing!!! The au gratin potatoes and mushrooms complimented the meal so well and were just as delicious as everything else. We had tons of leftovers so I'm pumped to eat those later today. The final cherry on top (aside from our amazing server Kasara) of our night was the fabulous owner, Dean, stopping by to ask about our experience and chat. The was our first time visiting after the remodeling and change of ownership. We loved the new decor. The bar area and dining room are beautiful decorated in a Las Vegas style theme. We started at the bar and enjoyed some nice cocktails. Soon after sitting down, the owner came by and introduced himself. He told us all about his and his wife's vision for the restaurant. He stopped by our table in the dining room to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We would see him and his wife making the rounds and helping the staff. They are definitely committed to running a fine restaurant! Since we were having steaks, we skipped the appetizers (the seafood towers looked great) and split a caesar salad. It featured real anchovies and homemade croutons. Usually the salad is served with a creamy dressing but here they make a light dressing with olive oil and lemon. It was light and tasty--probably the best caesar salad I ever ate. For our main dishes my wife had a 6oz fillet while I had the 20oz bone in ribeye. It comes with the classic Lanning's steak sauce, but you don't need anything to complement these steaks. They were cooked to perfection! For our sides we chose au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. These are meant to be shared but we ended up taking a lot home. Normally this is a special occasion type of restaurant for us, however, they now offer lunch and a weekday bar menu that is more affordable. Gave Lannings a bit of time since my last visit and wanted to see if things had changed, so stopped in on a Friday night for a glass of wine and a couple apps. Sad to say - nothing has changed. While the renovation still looks great - the food is just overpriced, the wait staff, while nice, is just very inexperienced (still). For me - the experience and the food still don't match the price. Not sure if this happens every Friday night, but the singer was so loud, people were basically shouting at each other to be heard. The music was old Rat Pack standards and would have been enjoyable at a reasonable volume, but not fun at the volume it was at. I realize I'm in the minority and most everyone loves this place. For me - other places in Akron and surrounding that provide better food and better service at the price point. read more

We went to Dean Martin's Lannings as our Christmas gift to each other--six adults: my brothers, their wives, and myself. All educated, respectful people who were fully prepared to enjoy (and pay for) a high-end dining experience. Instead, we were made to feel small and unwelcome the moment we walked in. We had a 5:00 reservation in the lounge. We ordered sparkling water, still water, escargot, a bottle of wine, and an Old Fashioned. From the start, service was inattentive. Empty plates sat on the table, water and wine glasses went unfilled, and no one seemed to be paying attention despite multiple servers standing around. Then, mid-experience, we were casually asked how our Christmas was--followed immediately by being warned that we had to be out of the booth by 7:00. If that's the rule, fine--but then take our order, clear the appetizers, bring bread, refill drinks, and let us actually dine. Don't interrupt guests to warn them about leaving when you haven't even allowed them to start their meal. At this point, the experience already felt uncomfortable and frankly embarrassing. We were on track to spend well over $200 per person on what is already an overpriced menu, yet we were treated like we were inconveniencing the staff. Then Dean Martin himself stopped by the table, dressed more like he'd wandered in from a discount rack than representing a "fine dining" establishment. He asked about our experience, joked with us, and even made a comment calling my sister-in-law a "hillbilly" because she's from Steubenville. We stayed polite, joked back, and tried to keep things light. But the moment he walked away, the same issues continued. We were again asked to move--this time to the bar. We never received proper service: plates weren't cleared, we weren't offered dessert, and no one even brought the check. We essentially had to figure out how to leave. If there's a strict time limit, communicate it clearly and then provide efficient, respectful service within that window. Don't shame paying customers, rush them, and then fail to serve them. We came ready to spend close to $1,000 on what's marketed as a high-end dining experience. Instead, we left feeling disrespected, unwelcome, and frustrated. There are far better restaurants--both in service and quality--that actually understand what hospitality means. read more

Anniversary Dinner at the best spot in the area. Started with the Wagyu Pastrami- as always, incredible. We then moved onto the Caesar salad- this is the best Caesar/croutons. For mains we got the Chilean Sea Bass and the (piloting) White Truffle Dry Aged Strip. The Sea Bass was flavorful and came with a dijon aioli. The strip has incredible depth of flavor and paired well with the house sauce, though I do with it come out a little hotter. For sides we got the Mac and Cheese and Mashed potato- both were great as usual. Deano has done a great job revamping this place and creating a great atmosphere. The food is always consistent and I feel great coming here for dates, client events, and special occasions. The servers are always on their game and make the experience worth the cost! read more

Ok. I grew up in Akron, Ohio but never ate here until recently. For full disclosure, I live in Houston now, where we have some amazing steakhouses. Service was attentive, enjoyed the decor and view and everyone was polite and attentive. We ordered the pork belly appetizer - sauce was good but pork belly was dry and overcooked. Still ok just overcooked! I ordered the bone in ribeye...wow this was a disappointment. Steak was extremely fatty and was definitely not prime. If you cut into it, it was grey as other reviewers have mentioned. It was also unevenly cooked. I ordered medium rare...some parts were raw and some were medium well...none of it was medium rare. We also ordered the lobster Mac....it was good but very little lobster and was really missing the lobster flavor as well. Was ok at best! Lastly, we ordered the asparagus that was good. It was my mother and sisters birthday and both ordered seafood and seemed happy with their dishes... I tasted the sea bass and it was ok to good. I have eaten at many nice restaurants all over the country. This is like an Outback with fancy waiters and overpriced food. I would stay away! read more

Visiting friends in the area and had a wonderful experience here. The atmosphere is old school speak easy, and if you like that vibe you will enjoy. Service top notch and timing of food delivery was well spaced. First the drinks are an art form. The aperol spritz took me back to my Rome vacation and was a 10/10. App were pork belly, wedge salad, shrimp cocktail and clams Rockefeller. All were good , pork very tender but shrimp was bit salty. Or table had filet, rib eye, Chilean sea bass and rack of lamb. I have not had mint jelly w rack of lamb in so long. It stole the show, perfectly cooked. Melt in your mouth and absolute chef kiss. Mushrooms and Potato Au Gratin rounded out our meal. Must have! I drove 60 miles and spent $250 for a hotel room to spend my girlfriend's 69 birthday at this place. I made 6:00 reservations for dinner and requested a nice table at a window over 30 days before. On our way to the restaurant I received a text that my reservation had been pushed to 7:15. When we arrived I was told my reservation had been pushed accidentally and told that we should go wait in the bar. I'm 70 and it was her 69th birthday. No seats in the bar. I am disabled, by the way. After standing for over 1/2 hour I said I would take any table available since they gave mine away. They stuck us in some crappy corner. I lost my table because someone else with the same name as me requested a reservation change and they put it on my reservation instead of the other guy. The food was mediocre at best. Service was awesome. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! Horrible management. Paid $375 for a terrible dining experience. Ruined her birthday. And there was nothing I could do. From now on, it'll always be Ken Stewart's or the Diamond Grille. read more

Could they surprise her with something with a candle. After the meal, a bus boy came up to her and said she "was entitled to a free piece of cheese cake. Would she like it to go". What a Moro . Is that how you celebrate a birthday? I complained to the owner and another bus boy brought out a candle and put it on the cake in the styrofoam box. I finally asked the young man to put it on a dish at least. The restaurant charges top dollar and is supposed to be the "go to" place for special occasions. Needless to say we'll never go back. My husband and I wanted to hear some jazz and after searching we came up with Lanning's which was featuring a jazz duo in their Deano's Lounge this past Saturday evening. WOW! we have never been to Lannings and our choice could not have been any better. The lounge was as classy as it gets. An old throwback to the lounges in Vegas. The owner came up and introduced himself and he explained that was his intention since he took possession three years prior. We sat at the bar and had some of the most delicious drinks and service extraordinaire! The cuisine was delicious and the duo added to the whole experience perfectly. The most enjoyable dining experience we have had in a long time. Cannot wait to return to this first class establishment in the near future and sit in the beautiful dining room.
