I used Twin Transit while staying in a hotel for a little over a week. This service operates only…read moreduring daytime hours (up to somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00 PM) during the week with limited service on Saturday. There are four bus lines with transfer points for transferring between lines. I only used the Red Line, Bus Route 30. It routes through major points in Chehalis to include the Safeway Grocery then to the very cute old part of Chehalis, past the Fairgrounds, Wal-Mart, and all the way up to Amtrak. If you are staying in any of the hotels on Interstate Street in Chehalis, it's a brisk half mile walk to the closest bus stop, which is Route 30. The stop is at the Safeway, but it's in the back, behind, on 11th street, and it's near the garbage container so a little smelly. On the other hand, if you are staying at any of the RV parks, they are too far away from any bus stop. I found their schedules hard to read and somewhat confusing. For example, Bus Route 30 makes a complete loop. The Lewis County shopping mall is on Hampe Street, which can be accessed on both sides of this loop. The schedule does not make it clear whether the bus accesses the mall going north or going south on the loop. It doesn't even address WHEN it stops at this mall. From riding the loop, I discovered it DOES access the mall from both sides of the loop. Well, it would have been nice to know that on the schedule....... Another issue was that since it was a "loop," well, when the bus finishes the "loop" at the last "time point," does it start over again, or do they put another bus at "time point #1" at the beginning of the loop and you have to transfer to another bus if you happen to be on it going that direction? Found out it does keep going on the next scheduled loop, but it would have been nice to have that clarified on the schedule. I think there are so many situations like this that it would make their schedule too complicated and they are just trying to keep it easy and keep the schedule to one page. Another rider on the bus kind of joked, "This is usual for Centralia/Chehalis, they give you limited information and you have to fill in the blanks....." The busses are about the size you would expect but I was surprised at the small number of seats in the bus. They space the seats farther apart than the seats on busses in larger cities. Even a tall person can ride comfortably. In large cities, even though I'm short, I feel crunched in the seats, but on the Twin Transit bus, I had a lot of leg room.

The log-hewn furniture feels solid, the lampshades were whimsical, even the coasters and decorations were on theme: bears in the woods. The kitchen gadgets were high end. The teas and coffees provided were not cheap standard shelf fillers, rather thoughtfully prepared and chosen. The cooking oil provided was obviously selected for quality and health. Add to this excellent electrical work in the cabins, cooling fans, lots of hooks for wet towels from the hot tub, support for WiFi, and you feel as if all possible eventualities --including power outages-- have been given forethought and workarounds clearly communicated to guests. It's the ethic of care for the wellbeing of the guest that had me impressed right off the bat, and this made the exquisite nature setting on the creekside feel seamless and restful. When someone has figured out all the details, you can go ahead and just relax at the cabin. My parents visiting from abroad had a great time here. All we did was just relax and enjoy the cabin. The deer and the blue jays were a special treat. This place is doing it right. You can never go wrong with staying here. However, it is a little expensive and there are no such things as cancellations. So it does seem hard to get a booking because it is so popular here. And I myself would worry about how to book when no cancellations are allowable. The cabins are slightly compact also, can be a bit tight if you pack in the full allowable guest load. The biggest takeaway is that…read morethis is a service for people who are seriously prepared for an enormous mental and physical challenge - if you're looking for something wild to do without months of preparation, regardless of the trip you choose, you might feel a little put off with RMI. Rainier IS something you can do with no previous climbing experience, but that doesn't mean you can just show up the day-of and expect to be fine. "No experience needed" doesn't mean no training is required. They make it clear that you need to be in the best physical condition of your life to execute these trips. I am someone who wants to pursue mountaineering as a lifelong hobby but doesn't have a climbing community of my own to go with. As a result, finding a Rainier concessioner was a natural choice. And even though it's nerve-wracking to climb with a bunch of pro guides and strangers, I felt like I found the type of community I've been dreaming of! I'm a female climber and my first experience was less positive because I didn't feel very included as a woman, but this second trip was amazing. I think inclusivity can often depend on the attitudes of the guides. Shoutout to Dominic, Sam, Marissa, and Rylee for making sure I felt strong and capable. No notes. I had the BEST time with them! There are other Rainier vendors (or guide services for other mountains) that are known to be a bit more gentle and flexible in their approach and pacing of their trips. Consider those alternatives if you're not craving absolute grit. No judgement, it's a personal preference. All in all, putting on multi-day climbs with clients of all backgrounds and dangerous terrain is no small feat, but I believe RMI does an incredible job at this. For as long as I'm climbing and able, I will choose RMI again.

This place is an awesome experience and nothing like what I just described. The man who runs this put up a sawmill on the property and hand cut all the boards for the buildings he has on site. This was not his only dwelling, but it is the only treehouse and it gets booked up in advance. Hint hint... Book now. When you first arrive, you get the grand tour of the property showing you where you can go if you're hiking and where to avoid. Terry is very good about stopping the ATV frequently and pointing things out. The scenery around this is incredible. Only been here a few hours and we have already seen deer and a coyote. The treehouse itself is incredible. It has two main floors, the upper one being the bedroom. Not recommended for more than two people. The downstairs has a nice layout with a small kitchenette, bathroom, right off the kitchen, lounging area, and a nice covered patio attached. The upstairs has a stairwell that I will compare to a ladder but if you pay attention, you will have no problem with it Queen, size bed, and extra blankets if you need. There is a fire pit near the main entrance and two benches and two side chairs. They keep a nice supply of wood and you will be able to use that for your fire. Down underneath the treehouse is a barbecue area complete with gas grill. Utensils are provided And it works well. All in all this was an awesome adventure. There's a two nights stay minimum but time will go by very quickly. Terry, your host is very gracious and keeps the property wall maintained. If you're looking for an adventure that's a little off the beaten path. This is the place for you.
