Here in Yelm on a Thursday night, staying in a fantastic newly renovated hotel. Quiet room in a quiet town with with a huge room, king bed and widescreen desk armchair too; everything looks like brand new! Rates compared to the city are almost a giveaway, what an amazing value! I don't know when or why I would be in Yelm again, but if I am I will be staying right here and walking to asa Mia for dinner. Don't miss this opportunity if you're close by. read more

We were there for a youth baseball tournament from Seattle. Not sure what the official criterion between hotel and motel is, but we were able to park directly in front of our room door. We checked in our room and saw a decent number of ants on the nightstand near the headboards. Called the front desk, they came and sprayed Raid and said call if there is anything else needed. After she left, we just stood there unsure of how to handle this. A handful of minutes later, whatever they did activated the ants and quite a bit more showed up. I followed their line and it was coming from under the bed, which was boarded up. Something to note, when I did look on the floor, it wasn't exactly clean, as there were crumbs littered about. The idea of laying our heads inches away from a swarm of ants didn't sit well with us. We requested a refund and got it, but the inconvenience didn't seem to matter to them as we lost our only lodging for the tournament. read more

Here for another stay. In town for a wedding. We have stayed here before and it is perfectly located for what we are doing here this weekend. All was good - just like the last time. This may be the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at. When I was a child, long before cellphones and internet reservations, we would always have to wait in the car while mom checked out the room, with special emphasis on the bathroom. My first thought upon entering the bathroom was, "Mom would have DEFINITELY approved this one!" Breakfast wasn't part of the deal but that wasn't a problem for me as I have many food issues and always bring my own. There were snacks available in the office area though, and many eateries nearby that smelled tantalizing. The only issue I had was that the sink drained slowly, and I forgot to mention it when I checked out. This would be a great base for local explorations; close to Mt Rainier and Nisqually, with a very nice bike path, and many parks. So much to do! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Yelm. read more

We arrived on a late Saturday night after driving in from Arizona. Our son in law called to inquire about a room for us and they invited us to come by. This is an older establishment, regardless room was exceptionally clean & inviting. Staff were quite friendly both day (name escapes me lived in Az for 6 years) & night shift (Kim). Our plans repeatedly changed and the staff continued to accommodate us by extending our stay. Yelp is a cute little town reminds of of Payson Arizona, except much friendlier....when we return to visit family we will stay here...if you want flashy, fancy and impersonal do not come here....by the way we enjoyed the lobby's fresh made coffee & flavored water bar.... This is a clean, comfy hotel. The rooms are spacious and attractive. The bathroom is huge and has a gigantic walk in shower with 2 shower heads. Very spa-ish. Quiet location. Friendly staff. King sized comfy bed. Clean remote! My only beef is the very lame "grab 'n go breakfast" which consists of end of season apples and run of the mill granola bars. It is deceptive. This is NOT a breakfast. Should just say "apples and granola bars". The 24 hour coffee is good, though. Price was reasonable and much cheaper than staying in Olympia where hotels seemed overpriced. read more

My husband and I have come here for many years for overnight getaway, staycation and special celebrations. It was a bit pricey for the suite with large Jacuzzi tub, but worth it.....You used to be able to just get one night. Now however it is a TWO night minimum. They've jacked up the rates, and I'm pretty upset about it. The hot water isn't as hot anymore as I can only get one fill barely before it runs out of heated water. The T.V. is a pain In the butt to work. Coffee is lousy and the price is insane. I do not like being forced to stay two days either..... I would have in the past given this a five star review, as the room tub and private balcony are great. The beds are so comfy and we've always enjoyed it. However!!! We won't be coming back due to the ridiculous price increase and mandatory two night stay. Very sad to say.... But goodbye Prairie Hotel We won't be back. You've lost two long time customers due to your greed. read more

I'm here for the holidays. I'm from southern California. I requested a handicapped room when I made my reservation. I was assured the beds were lower in the handicapped rooms. Some background info: last summer I fell and broke my back my back. I have Rod and screws from T6-L3. Thus my mobility is VERY limited. My balance is horrible because of my back. The bed is up to high for me to get into. I was sleeping in the chairs. Needless to say my back is very stiff and sore. The next morning I went to the office to request the bed be lowered. There was a lady in the side office that came out and firmly and loudly said they do not lower beds. I was taken a back by her reaction. She did offer a step stool. When I tried to use the step stool it would slide. It was scary. I went back to the office to plead my case once again. This time I got a plastic step stool with a small rug. With much difficulty I was able to get up on the bed. It would be so much easier to have the bed lowered. I do not understand why, to me, a simple request, could not be granted. Down in California the hotels would lower the beds the first time I ask. Why is it so difficult here? read more

The room was great, we stayed on the top floor and had a wonderful view of Mt. Rainier. It was a super large room and comfortable bed. Water pressure was wonderful. Wish they had a breakfast option, but we decided to go ahead on our way and ate in Gig Harbor instead. read more

Our car was robbed in the parking lot. While we are quite certain we locked the vehicle and took our keys, I'm also certain that the thieves used a key replication device to gain access to the car and took around $3500 worth of clothing, shoes, tripods, souvenirs, and more. We have reported this to the hotel, who told us that the parking lot has signs that say they are not responsible and that they were "robbed at gunpoint" some time in the past. Although this is a cute and clean/comfortable property, I would not risk staying there again. read more

This hotel has 2 buildings. One is available from the outside and the other has interior doors. It's nice, clean, looks new, and is comfy. The staff had been super helpful! The building with exterior doors allows pets but not the interior doors building. No smoking is allowed in any of the rooms but does any place have that anymore? It's a very quaint place, and in the morning and at sunset Mt Rainier looks super close! My only complaint is their so called "continental breakfast"... This is lacking. If you like apples and bananas, or, packaged muffins and oatmeal, you are in luck. I have eaten breakfast out everyday and there are some yummy places near by. Oh one other thing; if you have skin sensitivities, I suggest your own soap and shampoo. There one provided smells like cucumbers. Not for me but, maybe for you? Great staff!! We booked this hotel for a few nights at a great rate to surprise some friends in town. Hotel staff Ashely and Kim at the front desk were incredibly helpful. We were able to check in early and were treated with kindness when our plans changed and we needed to leave. Though the hotel did not have a pool we were still very pleased with the accommodations and modern features of this hotel. Especially when we didn't expect to find such a modern/urban facility in a small town as Yelm. We chose the location simply because we couldn't find room at the Mt. Rainier Inn within the park. Though about an hour's drive away from the park entrance I would definitely stay here again. There's a very nice Italian restaurant nearby (Casa Mia), a good Japanese restaurant (Kinja) and a couple of Starbucks (one in the local Safeway) all within walking distance. A multiplex movie theater is also a short walk away. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the new wing. The room had a vaulted ceiling, ceiling fan, nearly floor to ceiling windows, motorized curtains and sheer, refrigerator, microwave, a nice large LCD TV and very comfortable beds. If staying in Yelm I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

VERY HAPPY STAY! My honey and are are visiting family and we feel very happy staying here. NO COMPLAINTS at all!.....Well, maybe one :-) I would have loved more places to sit outside on comfy benches. We have a fantastic view of Mount Rainier. I am a health nut and am in walking distance to the Yelm Co-Op and Simply Organic and other grocery stores and restaurants. Oh, and several coffee drive thrus better than Starbucks! Check out Tim's Pharmacy........great gifts and yummee chocolate. And there is a movie theater right next door.. Everyone is sooooooo friendly! My honey found a casino 6 miles away. I would love to stay here again FOR SURE!!! read more

I have been staying here as part of a nearby television production and I cannot say more good things about this hotel. While there are no fancy amenities like a pool or spa - the hotel more than makes up for it with beautiful rooms and friendly service. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, and I would stack these modern, large and nice rooms against any of them. Many of the rooms are full suites and some are two bedrooms with fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs and mini kitchens. All have extra large flat screen TVs. I was here during a cold snap and my heater stopped working. The hotel responded immediately and simply upgraded me to one of their largest rooms. No questions asked and they were super friendly about it. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly if you are in the area. There is also a great little Italian restaurant next door and a fancy multiplex theater with reclining seats. read more

Lovely little home away from home! Nice decor, clean, I've slept wonderfully and...I love the heater/fan unit under the window. It has been a wonderful and relaxing stay. Very quiet. Also, customer service is ON POINT! I arrived (not knowing if I'd be staying a night or two) at 7am but not needing to work until 9. I was exhausted from driving and after talking with the front desk and arranging a 2 night stay, she let me into my room. I was able to sleep for two hours before my work appt. 5 starts for fantastic hospitality and clean, modern rooms...and make up remover cloths! read more

I have been staying here for years. They have really updated all the rooms and added another building. You get a great night sleep on fabulous beds (for those with back issues). The folks that work at the desk are so kind and thoughtful. The lobby has great coffee, along with fruit and cereal, etc. More if you wish to purchase. My wife and I visited the hotel to review for our wedding, we made plans and the hotel told us we wouldn't need to make payments until close to the wedding. We got a call 5 months later notifying us the hotel cancelled our wedding less than half a year left for construction. We spent a night in the hotel's King Suite and we were impressed. The room was spacious and clean with amenities like a large flat screen TV, gas fireplace, and deep jetted tub. The room featured a lounge area, king sized bed and large bathroom suite with a separate toilet shower area. The walls are a bit thin as we could clearly hear guests in the adjoining room but the disturbance to us was minimal. I had expected the town's only hotel to be on the sparse and simple side but I was surprised to find comfort and amenities generally only found in bigger hotels. Restaurants are literally no more than a two minute walk in either direction from the hotel and a great independent movie theater is right next door. Movies and show times are listed conveniently right in the room. Unlike bigger hotels, though, this hotel has no pool/spa which is why this hotel only rates a four out of five. read more

Very comfortable, well appointed, sizable rooms. The staff are all very friendly and make every effort to meet guests' needs/requests/expectations. The lobby is very comfortable and has freshly brewed coffee and a nice selection of Stash teas 24/7. The morning grab&go breakfast items are nice, and include fresh apples and oranges, granola bars, breakfast bars, packaged danish, and a selection of instant oatmeal. On top of all of that, the hotel is centrally located, and within walking distance or a very short drive of the downtown area restaurants and shops. This hotel was so nice. The rooms are clean and feel like a luxury suite. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion supplied in the rooms.
