I had just cashed my big check six weeks prior and was ready to hit the open road to Las Vegas for a poker tournament. I declared, "I need an RV, *NOW*!" Debra, the incredibly knowledgeable salesperson with a serious side and an alarming frequency of saying "Holy Schnikes!" jumped into action. She quickly introduced me to the majestic Jayco fifth wheel that dreamers like me only see in RV fantasies. Her enthusiasm for RVs was infectious, especially when she started telling me about her recent trip to the Jayco factory. I was sold faster than you can say "Holy Schnikes!" But when I mentioned I needed the RV that night, Debra informed me that I had to chat with Chris, the General Manager with silver hair that sparkled, broad shoulders that could almost lift the whole dealership, and a smile that could light up Christmas. He was nothing short of awesome! Chris called in his partner-in-RV adventures, Joseph, the service manager with the most delightful romantic Spanish accent. Honestly, with that voice, he could probably convince the RVs to clean themselves! Together, they did a thorough inspection and made my future rolling palace shine like a new pin. Meanwhile, the Finance Manager RJ, with his porcupine-esque hairstyle and knack for musical interruptions, broke out a ukulele and started a spontaneous sing-along. I found myself dancing around the showroom to some catchy tune while they handled the paperwork. It was like buying an RV in a musical! And the best part? They stayed three hours past closing to ensure I was all set for my Las Vegas adventure. Talk about dedication! I drove off with my fabulous Jayco in tow and zoomed straight to Vegas. Now, I'll be honest--once I got to the poker tournament, I made the rookie mistake of betting everything I had on black, and let's just say luck was not on my side that night. I rarely leave reviews like this, but my experience with Blue Compass RV in Katy was disappointing…read moreenough that other RV owners should know about it. I have intentionally used this dealership for my 2026 Jayco Precept 34G because I wanted a relationship with one service center that knew my RV. Thus far, Blue Compass Katy was the only dealership that had ever worked on it. I have also spent a substantial amount of money with them having upgrades installed, including my lithium battery system, upgraded inverter/charger, Starlink system, 360-degree camera system, and a rather expensive towing package. My thinking was simple: rather than have different shops modifying and servicing the coach, I wanted one dealership familiar with everything that had been done to it. Unfortunately, that relationship is now over. On this most recent visit, my RV spent two solid months at the dealership. I'm not exaggerating; 8 solid weeks. One of the primary issues was determining why an air conditioner would initially operate from the upgraded lithium battery/inverter system and then shut down shortly afterward. After two months, not only was that problem never resolved -- not a single issue I brought the RV in for was resolved. I ultimately picked it up in essentially the same condition in which I dropped it off. During the process, I received different explanations. At one point I was told an undersized 80A breaker was the problem and that a 100A breaker and new wiring were needed. Later, I was told the converter wasn't wired to the air conditioner, which did not address the problem I had asked them to diagnose. Time was also spent testing the generator, even though I never asked them to investigate that and it was fully operational. Another surprise was being told they could not change the engine oil because they did not have a lift capable of handling my motorhome. I understand that shops have their own equipment and safety requirements, but I was surprised that a dealership servicing Class A motorhomes could not perform something as basic as an engine oil change on one. Communication was equally frustrating. I repeatedly had to request updates, and my service advisor often appeared to be waiting for information from the technician herself. I also included Joseph, the service manager, on multiple emails and eventually addressed emails directly to him explaining my concerns. Not once did Joseph respond or even acknowledge receiving them. Considering the amount of business I had given this dealership, the fact that they had my RV for two months, and that I was actively reaching out because the service experience was going so poorly, I find that lack of acknowledgment particularly disappointing. To Blue Compass's credit, I was ultimately told there would be no charge for this visit, which I appreciate. This review isn't about money. It's about leaving a nearly new Class A motorhome with the same dealership that performed all of its major upgrades, giving them two months to address the issues, repeatedly chasing updates, receiving conflicting explanations, getting no response from the service manager, and ultimately taking the RV home without a single issue I brought it in for being resolved. I understand that RVs are complicated and that not every problem can be diagnosed immediately. But this dealership knew this coach. They performed many of the upgrades themselves. They were the only dealership I had allowed to work on it. I gave them my business because I wanted that continuity and hoped to maintain a long-term service relationship. After this experience, that will no longer be the case. If you own a Class A motorhome -- particularly one with upgraded electrical systems -- I would ask detailed questions about their capabilities and what work they're actually equipped to perform before leaving your RV here. Two solid months. Not one issue resolved. And after investing considerable money with this dealership specifically because I wanted them to be my long-term service center, I left knowing I will need to find someone else.
