Be careful of purchasing from this place. I went in on Black Friday - there was a store wide 25% off regular items and an additional 70% off sale items. I purchased a dress and changed my mind a couple days later, only to be told that all sales were final. The item I bought was regularly priced with 25% off for Black Friday. I politely inquired about returning it and was told that all sales were final and that their return policy was prominently displayed. This is what the owner sent me.... You be the judge. No mention of final sale at checkout either. This means that every purchase on Black Friday was final sale. No changing minds, returning of gifts that don't fit, etc. Beware shopping at this store. read more

TCB is fantastic! Whether you are looking for a cute new top to freshen up the work or brunch date routine or a dress for a wedding or special occasion, this shop will have you covered. Clothing pieces range in regular price from about $70 to $200+ whereas jewelry starts from $40. I visited today, and there was an updated display of jewels - It was a feast for the eyes! When I walked into the shop, I at first didn't see anyone working, but then a girl greeted me as I started browsing. She asked if I was looking for anything in particular, and it just so happened that I was looking for tops only. She was super helpful given my price point and color preferences. She mentioned the back room is for sale items, and attire could be upwards of 50% off! In the main room, I kept walking around, and while I found things I liked, I just wasn't ready to spend that kind of coin. In the back room, however, I found a dress to try on and was sad it didn't fit right. When I thought I was done looking for tops, the girl working here, whose name was Alexa, came to the rescue - She found a nicely-patterned top with an A-line structure from the Cupcakes and Cashmere brand. It was only $44! I was hesitant as it is dry clean only, but it was too pretty and fit too well to pass up. Alexa had good instincts when she picked out this blouse. I am so glad she continued looking even after I stopped! To be honest, I have been looking for shops like TCB because the normal stores get boring with the same old stuff. I checked out TCB's website and Instagram and realized immediately that its style focus matches with my own. Brands include ASTR, Jack, BB Dakota, and others. Plus, the inventory changes weekly to keep things fresh! If you visit and find something you like, you may as well buy it, because it may not be there on a subsequent visit. When I checked out, Alexa wrapped the blouse in tissue paper and put it in a reusable bag. What a nice touch. Bottom line: I will be back, probably too often. It's time to update my TCB review! My last one was way back in 2013 and here we are 5 years later and it's still 5 stars. Over the years, I've become so much less of a mall girl and more of a boutique girl. The stuff you see in malls is not the most fashionable, most stores are poorly organized, and getting there is a hassle in and of itself. Every single item I've bought from Traveling Chic Boutique over the years has stood the test of time and still looks fantastic. They are some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I went in on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and they had an amazing sale (which doesn't happen often)! Their entire back sale room was 70% off. I got 3 high quality, stylish sweaters for around $20 each. They aren't itchy, they fit well, and are from some of my favorite brands. I fell in love with a 4th sweater and after getting to the register, realized that it was in the wrong place and it was actually full price - $75. I was visibly crushed. Annie, the owner, apologized for the error, explained that it was a brand new sweater that happened to be in the wrong place, and offered me a discount on the sweater anyway (not 70%, but still generous). I went on to buy it and can't wait to wear it. This is still my all time favorite place to buy clothes. They have the perfect mix of trendy and timeless. Another women's clothing boutique in Carytown - and with affordable prices, at that! I am beyond excited for this fashion-forward new addition to RVA. Most of the prices are under $100, but the shop does carry a few higher end pieces, including my favorite bold-printed line, Yumi Kim. A few notable characteristics: 1. With each purchase you choose a free koozie or a hairbrush (stamped with the TCB logo, of course) 2. Purchases come with reusable bags BUT you can choose to forgo the bag and the shop will donate the cost of the bag to one of 5 charities. They've chosen the charity options, but you pick your fave. 3. Vintage boots! The emphasis of the shop is on clothing, but they carry quite a few pairs of vintage boots... and if you know me, then you know I love my cowboy boots. I have yet to try on a pair, but I know where I'll be heading come fall weather. 4. All purchases are made via an ipad and rather than receiving a printed receipt, all receipts are emailed directly to the customer. Not a novel idea, of course, but a practice of which I'm a fan. 5. New items arrive weekly, so the inventory is kept fresh. A great strategy for enticing customers back on a regular basis. So far I've visited twice and they haven't been officially open a week. I can already tell this is going to be a bad thing for my bank account, but a great thing for my closet! read more

Cute clothes made not so cute by their customer service. I had a holiday party to go to this past Friday night so I stopped for a quick look at TCB. I tried on a bunch of things and ended up buying two tops. Once I got home I took the tag off with all intentions of wearing it but ultimately decided it was a tad too big on me and I didn't love it with the pants I had in mind for the top. Paying $55 for a top and not loving it I decided I'd return it today, not even 48 hours later. I went to the store with the top, my emailed receipt and the tags. I knew their return policy was pretty strict (you have 7 days to return an item for exchange or store credit only). I was denied both options. The owner wouldn't take it back because the tag wasn't ATTACHED to the top. i can understand not giving a customer money back but she wouldn't even do a store credit or exchange. I think their customer service is terrible and return policy or lack thereof is also terrible. Needless to say they've lost a customer and probably more because of the people I've told and will tell. read more
