They generally run a good, responsive/efficient service as long as you know what you're getting. I was very happy with it for last couple years until I recently learned they run a subscription racket. Someone mistakenly sent a piece of mail to one of my businesses at my TMB address over a year ago and I had to "upgrade" (+$10/mo) to add that addressee (business) name to process the piece of mail. I went to downgrade it ($120+ later) since that business no longer exists and I don't receive mail for it, and was told by customer service that "once we receive a piece of mail for an addressee, we cannot remove it from the account." So they effectively will ONLY let you upgrade your account, not downgrade it. I asked whether this was a legal requirement and they said "it's the policy set by the company owner." read more

overall all good. i had none of this "lost" mail. ect. for $15 a month? i work overseas so this is a great assistance. letter comes in. IF you want it scanned it can take a day or 1.5days. so what. IF you want to open in under 15 it costs $5. probably the best feature is it's local and international shipping. need a letter mailed? no problem. a bit pricy like .50 a page but does the USPS. the real winner here is FedEx. i had documented mailed from the NC to Peru many times. literally 35% if not less than if you walk in the FedEx store. it must be their corporate account pricing. that, if you use this service, is worth every penny of the monthly. read more

Horrible, Awful, Irresponsible SCAMMERS. Refuse to Make Reasonable Ammends for Their Mistake. Less than 30 days ago I signed up for mail services & indicated I'd use their package storage & forwarding services too since I'd be traveling and then relocating to a yet-to-be-determined location in Spain. Having sent a few boxes to TM I headed-out of the country to begin my travel/relocation adventure. Having just now started my travels when TM tells me the price for storage posted on their website was wrong. And, the 'correct' price I'll have to pay is 30X, yes 30 TIMES, the amount quoted on their website! The website indicated the storage fees posted on the website were per month ~ now they say the posted fees are per DAY charges. They also failed to disclose that they bill for the entire month regardless of the number of days your package is actually stored. This unexpected & unforseeable financial demand jeapordizes everything I've saved & invested for my once-in-a-lifetime "happy new retirement" travels and relocation plans. TM has not only jeapordized my ability to finance my vacation/relocaton as I'd planned and long-saved for, but also my ability to be self-sustaining whether I'm traveling or not since the cost of their storage will amount to 30% of my small Gov't Pension retirement ~ which is the only income I have right now. I'm now facing financial hardship, &/or having to rack-up a ton of storage fees on a credit card, or having TM destroy my items so I don't have this added, unforseeable financial burden all because they misquoted their own prices on their website and I relied on what they advertised and trusted they were were an honest and competent organization. Just thought I'd give a more recent update for Traveling Mailbox since I decided to renew them again for the year. I second the other reviewers here who have experienced being charged for unexpected items. The most annoying are the shipping/forwarding options for anything even larger than a standard letter sized envelope. I had one item that was maybe the size of a large magazine and was charged a $5 oversized fee in addition to what the standard postage would cost. If you want any tracking at all. you can expect to pay at least $10 extra fur that (priority mail or UPS/FedEx). No doubt you are charged a bit extra over and above the actual shipping costs. Their justification is it's a "handling fee" for the labor and effort in shipping your items. Of course the monthly fee you pay to them is only for the mailbox rental and incoming delivery services. On the positive side I like the fact the staff are easy to reach with questions or concerns. Just be warned they can be a bit inflexible if, or when you have any problems or issues. They typically don't respond to criticism too well. ;) Traveling Mailbox also has a large number of cities you can get addresses in. Just be aware that any mail that goes to all of their remote locations actually gets forwarded to their main office in North Carolina before being scanned in. So, any mail arriving at your PMB might take another week or so to "arrive" and be scanned in so you will know it's there. They also can take a little time to open and scan the contents of any new mail. This can be anywhere from a few hours into the following day. I'm being nickeling and diming for scans on the back of any cards! 2 bucks each! Their software message says "only on the back of credit card" that is NOT true. Scanning the back of any card (club/etc) will incurred a charge of $2/each. They also have horrible customer service agents. You cannot reason with them. They will talk over you and they don't care to lose your business. They even threaten me to leave their service right on the phone, which I'm planning to. read more

I have used Traveling Mailbox off and on for the past several years. I cannot say enough good things. I have always found them very easy to work with. Honestly, they are a godsend, as my occupation frequently calls for me to live abroad for extended periods of time. I am particularly impressed with Tori. Each time I have dealt with her she has been patient, professional, helpful and very pleasant. She answered all of my questions even and walked me through a number of processes. She treated me the way I try to treat each one of my clients, which is like they are the reason for my day, rather than an interruption to it. Superior customer service. I asked many times what these fees are and if they were going to send me what they received. I ran my business with Traveling Mailbox for about five years before making the decision to switch to another service. Thing started out relatively fine, but an accumulation of worsening experiences motivated me to look elsewhere. Here was the progression: 1) Lost mail - Mail forwarded without a tracking number seemed to never arrive. This might be understandable on a rare occasion, but nowhere near the frequency at which it actually occurred. 2) Partial label scans - While running a business, I needed all of the information contained on the shipping labels of arriving packages. About halfway through my tenure with them, they made the decision to scan only a portion of the labels, hence omitting vital information needed for properly forwarding the package. 3) Mediocre interface - The interface wasn't terrible, but was quite buggy at times, especially when inputting the information needed to forward packages. Visually, it also left a lot to be desired. 4) Customer service - Some of the agents were definitely nice and helpful, though there were others who clearly had very little empathy for the client when an issue arose. 5) Sudden cancellation - After five years of being a loyal customer, they suddenly cancelled my account because they seemed to be offended that I disputed an unauthorized charged they assessed to my account after attempting to resolve it with them. This was done without warning and without regard to the potential impact it had on my business. They offered me the same address if I signed up again and agreed to pay the bank charge of the dispute, but given the egregiousness of the decision made by them (not to mention the aforementioned issues), I took it as an opportunity to move on. I have since contracted PostScanMail, which has proven superior in all areas to date. read more

Traveling Mailbox has been great. Easy to set-up, they're also quick to answer questions. Notifications come to you as soon as they receive an item and grouping items together is easy. The forwarding (if you choose that) only takes about 3-4 days, tops. If you choose to have something shredded, they do. The big advantage, of course, is if you're traveling and don't want to lose items in the bog of the mail system. If you know you're going to be in Walla - Walla in 2 weeks for instance, just have your mail forwarded to general delivery there (or a hotel, anything... ) We will definitely use this again. read more

Have been using for three years. At first, they were on top of it. But as of late, you basically have to beg to get your mail. Moreover, their website appears to be from 1996. For example, when you search their site for notary services, all that appears is an image of a stamp. Nothing more. Not to be outdone, they offer a service called ScanPak where they SUPPOSEDLY send a prepaid envelope envelope to an address of your choice which you can then fill with documents and put back in the mail to be scanned to your mailbox. For priority service, this will cost around $20. I was in urgent need of some documents in the United States (I live abroad). I ordered the ScanPak and paid extra for the faster shipping. The receipt said it would arrive in 2-3 days. After 8 days, I contacted TravelingMailbox and they had no explanation (turns out, it was never sent). At this point, I had to pay a ton of money to just have the documents Fed Ex'd to me internationally overnight. Maybe they need to hire more people or they have overextended themselves by adding new addresses, but their service has taken an utter nosedive. I do not trust them with my mail or to follow through on services paid for. This has had serious consequences for my business and personal finances. Even when they tell you your mail will be handled by a certain time, you still have to follow up constantly. It's like having to manage a lazy employee with a crap attitude. A competitor can easily bury Traveling Mailbox with just a bit of attention to detail and decent customer service. read more

I have used and compared this service with two others (Anywhere mailbox and iPostal1) and, well, there is no comparison. You will never get a real person on either of the other two. That is completely the opposite with Traveling Mailbox. Anytime I have had to call, which was primarily after getting the account since it was new, I got a real person on the line. I have *never* gotten a recording as I did with the other two. Someone actually answers and knows what they are talking about. One of the best things about this service is the menu which shows your received mail. It is so intuitive and easy to use. It makes forwarding and scanning of your mail so convenient. I found this service ok, but much more expensive than it appears when you purchase it. The most surprising expense is that they don't forward your mail after you close your account like USPS does - you have to pay them (minimum of $20) each time you want to see anything forwarded to them. If you bother to get on chat, someone will tell you where the mail items came from, but you can't access them. That seemed like a "fine print" detail that should be shared with potential customers upfront. I also didn't really find the service that helpful. We paid an extra $49/year for an address in Los Angeles, which they indicate is: 4470 W Sunset Blvd #91234, where #91234 is your private mailbox code. However, 4470 W Sunset Blvd is a strip mall, and your mail is really going to the UPS Store which is unit 107. So the REAL address is: 4470 W Sunset Blvd Ste 107 PMB 91234 This seems pedantic, but the issue is actually quite significant: per 1-800-ASK-USPS, USPS will NOT accept a change of address to "4470 W Sunset Blvd #91234" because it isn't a valid street address. It's the equivalent of sending mail to an apartment building with an apartment number that doesn't exist, praying that the letter carrier knows that #91234 really goes to unit #107. So, if you're trying to hide the fact that you're using a PMB (one reason you'd use this over a PO box), good luck because USPS says that doesn't work. Nowhere is this disclosed on their website. Their "team lead" support agents wouldn't give us a straight answer, either. They insisted that USPS would accept the address, despite USPS flat-out rejecting the address (in writing) when I submitted a change of address form *using the format provided to me by one of their team leads.* Based on a read of reviews on other sites (Ripoff Report), this seems to have been going on since at least February, 2015 and they just blame it on USPS. read more

The concept is great, but don't use this service if you want to get all of your mail, or if you need to get any of your mail in less than 3 weeks. I'm still waiting for mail that was sent over two months ago. The company told me that it may have been addressed wrong (just not having the box number), but apparently it just disappears if that happens and is not even sent back to the sender. read more

Had a great experience with this company for about a year but in the last few weeks have had problems. First, didn't receive a bank issued check that I had no problem with for 11 months. And then the check was cancelled, re-issued and resent with USPS Priority Mail. The tracking on the USPS site indicates that it was delivered but this mail with check was also not received. Not sure what is going on but I will update once I get a reply back from Traveling Mailbox. I did get the USPS priority mail package. This is a good service but if you need to receive mail quickly please note that the mail is sent to a PO Box and then sent to the Traveling Mailbox sorting/scanning center which results in extra processing time. The monthly price is lower than some of the others which, for me, offsets the extra processing time. read more

It doesn't work and they don't care... They pretend they're providing a street address that USPS accepts. USPS does not accept these addresses (which is in the format of xxx Main St #yyy-zzzz). It's the last four digits (the z's) that identify an individual's virtual mailbox and the USPS drops off those last four when you forward your mail, no matter what you do on the forwarding forms. I called trying to find a solution, but the service rep didn't give a damn and told me to go elsewhere. Nice. I'm halfway around the world and haven't received mail in three weeks. Overall they have been very reliable. I have used them since 2014. I used Florida as my mailing address, while moving around in that state. The Tallahassee address is actually the Student Union address at Florida State University. From there it gets shipped to North Carolina via first class mail where it is promptly processed. You request whether you want it scanned or shredded and deleted, which they do within 24 hours or less. So it is a 10 day to 2 week lag to get your mail from the sender. To my knowledge I have received every check, and every important piece of mail except once, I never received a credit card, but that can happen with US mail also. They are quick to forward mail when requested. It is easy to downgrade, upgrade, or cancel your plan, just call customer service, and they will walk you through it. Travis Poole, the owner of Traveling Mailbox, is an unapologetic jackass. The mailboxes are falsely advertised as local addresses, but in fact are shipped to North Carolina. It has taken up to a MONTH to receive my mail. Travis refuses to care or even acknowledge that this is a problem. He responds with punitive measures and threats like suspending accounts if you complain. Traveling Mailbox is also "up selling"scanning. Once you receive mail a month late, they want to charge an extra $5 to scan it or they want to set it aside for later. I guess this is a business that makes money on volume, not keeping customers, because it's very clear they HATE their customers. read more

I had this mailbox for 2 months. Sorry to say worthless. USPS did not accept their address for mail forwarding. Also, it was not accepted by the government agencies and it was not accepted by my PNC Bank. It was due to the long number xxx-xxxx which is the unique number provided with your address. Also, when I requested to cancel August payment in the middle of July, the access to my mailbox was suspended even though I have paid for July and June. I did not receive anything during these to months because it was not accepted by anybody and I wasted $40. My advice, take your business elsewhere and make sure that the address you are giving is acceptable because traveling mailbox is definitely not. read more

Don't use this company if you plan on actually wanting to receive mail. I had alright service for mail from insurance companies and the like (some of it not even meant for me but still counting towards my monthly quota) but they managed to lose an important document - even though tracking shows it was signed for. What impressed me most when I started was the price for value. I use the address for letters only. They have always been very expedient in scanning envelopes, scanning letters, and forwarding letters. For $20/month I don't think it could get any better. They do have fees for forwarding, but they are outlined ahead of time and VERY affordable. I know they are a small company working out of UPS boxes, but this is the type of business that I would start myself. Very smart and intuitive. The website portal is easy to navigate and professional. Many negative comments are because people didn't read the guidelines. I've only had this service for a little over a month. I have had to call in to support & have always been treated kindly & professionally. Two things: I requested an item be forwarded and noticed after 36 hrs it still hadn't been forwarded. Once I called the task was completed within a couple of hours. #2: I've just learned that although my mailbox is in Oregon (and I'm staying in Calif for a little bit), that when I have mail forwarded to me it FIRST goes to their processing hub in No Carolina & then back to me in Calif! Extra time I wasn't aware of would be necessary before actually receiving the item - doesn't seem efficient so my guess is they are partnering with independent mail providers to simply receive mail but all actual task processing must be done by them in North Carolina once their partner forwards it to them?? read more

They have pricing on the cheaper side but unlike other competitors like Anytimemailbox, your mail is actually forwarded from the address you choose to their scanning center in North Carolina. This adds additional delay. Typically from postmark date, for 1st class mail, it was taking around 10-12 days before we got notification. In early 2021 it doubled for a couple months for some reason and pieces of mail, mailed from 100 miles away were taking 20 days before we got notification, so we dropped them for a service that scans the mail at the actual mailing address site. read more

This is the worst mailbox service you can receive. They deleted all my scanned letters and data without notifying or informing me upfront. I closed my account after two years or poor service and expected to get a copy of my scanned letters only to find out they deleted all my data just after canceling my account!!!! I talked to two agents Gregory and Mike to get help, and they are really horrible, don't care to help and keep arguing for no reason. Took 36 hours for them to scan the last piece of mail I received! The address they gave me would not pass as a valid address when entered online so they gave me another version of it but refused to correct it on their website. In other words, I could not login to the app to get see the valid address. If I switch to another company, I have to go through a change of address again. read more

Travis Poole, who runs this business, is an absolute jerk. He's rude and dismissive and does NOT CARE how long your mail is delayed. Not only that, but they don't ADVERTISE that they will nickel and dime you with fees. There is a fee for a "thick envelope" which they'll call a package (per post office defnition). Your mail is shipped to North Carolina there is NO WAY to pick it up "for security reasons." So, if you DO receive a "package" they'll force you to pay a huge fee to ship it to yourself. Or they'll charge you $10/month to "hold" it. And they send lots of little invoices for random fees. There's no way to figure out how much you'll be paying in and advance because it's not written down. None of this is written anywhere. read more

I live in Mexico for half the year, and this service has been great. I'm able to delete many items just by seeing the envelope. I scan about half the items that come in. The scans have been of good quality, and I save what I need to on my hard drive. I've also used the check deposit feature, and it worked well. You've got to pay for the express mail to get the check to your bank, but it has been dependable. I lived overseas for 15 years, and now live abroad part time... with lots of travel in between. This is the most-reliable solution I've found. Here are a couple of tips: When selecting a virtual address, I'd suggest using their North Carolina address... this is where the processing takes place. If you have your mail forwarded to say, their Oregon address, then your mail will travel to Oregon, and then be forwarded back to NC. You may lose another week doing this. Beware of the senders who pack 20 sheets of paper into an envelope. this can eat up your allotment quickly. read more

I have been using Travelling Mailbox for the past 2 years. The first few months were not good although they have recently picked up their game quite a bit. PROs: The service is advertised as Mail Forwarding and they do this very well. Mail is scanned quickly and the online system for handling forwarding and shredding is great. CONs: They do package forwarding although not very well. They do not seem to be set up to handle large items. Despite this the customer support will eventually sort out issues for you but it can be very frustrating. In summary they are an honest business that does their core business (mail forwarding) extremely well. read more
