I do not recommend using Traveling Teams. We ended up being booked in a hotel that was 45 minutes away from the fields where our team was playing, which completely defeated the purpose of using their service for convenience and coordination. When I called to ask about possible flexibility with dates or hotel options closer to the fields, the representative was extremely rude from the start. I stayed calm and simply tried to understand what options might be available, but the conversation only became more confrontational. When I asked to speak with a manager or requested the representative's name, they hung up on me. I called back, was connected to the same person, politely asked again for the manager's name or escalation path, and they hung up a second time. Mistakes happen, but the way the situation was handled and the lack of professionalism was incredibly disappointing. read more

This last tournament for Atlanta Legacy was ridiculous. Sonesta Atlanta Northwest Galleria is trash. Dirty, smelly, toilets don't work, run all the time or overflow, every floor is under construction. Charged $192 per night and listed as $85 on Expedia. Changed rooms three times. Every.Single.Time. Drove from Connecticut to Nashville for a softball tournament, only to find that my reservation had been cancelled three days before. I received no notification, the hotel blamed the travel company, the travel company blamed the hotel. I was told I would be contacted by a manager from this travel company. I have heard nothing. I called them again, and was told it was escalated to a manager, and they would contact me when the issue was resolved. Seriously? A manager should have contacted me immediately and let me know they were attempting to figure out what happened, and where things broke down. Luckily I was able to secure accommodations at a different hotel, as the one where my daughter's team was booked had no availability. My daughter could not stay with her team and was missing out on the bonding experience. When I saw the first 10 yelp reviews for this company my only surprise was the one 5 star review. I can only assume it was made by an employee, because anyone else who has dealt with them directly has posted 1 star. That 1 star was only because zero or negative numbers are not an option. They advertise the hotel room rate as one amount, demand a deposit per night, then you arrive at the hotel and they tell you the rate is lower and they didn't recieve a deposit from Traveling Teams. TT is pocketing approx $40/night. When you call them, they say it is a booking fee. Traveler beware. I wonder if the host clubs know this, maybe they do, maybe they are getting a kickback. This organization automatically has their boxed check, you get charged a "deposit" that is most likely kept by them and not an incidental charge the actual hotels have on file. Very interesting how they conduct business, makes sense why they have terrible reviews- hopefully large tournaments/organizations review their partnerships after conducting any surveys. I'd avoid a tournament or sporting event that you have to pay this company to stay in a hotel. Vegas tournament we're attending generates $34million for local economy, except this business that is located on the other side of the country. TravelingTeams is a 3rd party that makes money off sporting events of kids. They have ZERO involvement with the actual stay or visit to these sporting events. Majority of 5 star reviews are from people that are located near the business address. Travelling Teams invoice statements did not reflect the correct billing. This is why people say USA soccer is a pay to play system and it is because this tournament is only accessible if you stay at certain hotels that TravelingTeams manages. Read all the reviews to see. Maybe in 2018 (the last time they had anything above a 1-star review) they handled things well, but it is not the case any longer. This organization is a sham - forcing higher hotel rates on you than what individuals can find on their own, providing false information throughout the process, taking a deposit that they aren't passing to the hotel, not refunding the deposit when you cancel even when you cancel within their guidelines, etc etc. I could go on and on for DAYS. PSA: If you've ever had a Stay To Play tournament\showcase use Traveling Teams to secure hotel rooms and the showcase cancelled your division - be sure to stay on this company. They charged a $79.95 "deposit" from each of our families. When our division got canceled i called and asked if all of our hotel rooms would be cancelled and they confirmed they would. I would have never noticed, but a dad on our team noticed that they never refunded the $79.95. So I called to inquire about it - they were not going to refund it - they were 100% just hoping that people didn't notice. EACH family had to call to request their refund, I could not just request it being team manager fie the whole team. When they refunded they only refunded $66.00 - they tried to keep the $13.95 as a cancellation fee...... so I had to call again and argue that they canceled our division - we did not just cancel going to the showcase. This company is extremely shady and I have never dealt with anything like it in my 9 years of managing multiple hockey teams. If a showcase or tournament uses this - totally look into opting out of the stay to play - I will be for sure. I hate shady! read more

The company is NOT user friendly. They charge you $30+ a night and if you go with the hotels they usually have listed they are crap. I do research before going to any place to make sure we are staying somewhere good. I don't think they do their research before offering QUALITY HOTELS. One tournament they sold the requested hotel out from under our team after I did the research to get all the information to them. They then didn't get our booking link to the next hotel and we were stuck waiting until the LAST day to book. Thank goodness for our hotel sales manager was super helpful but if you try to get a hold of someone at 3 on a Friday afternoon, good luck. On the most recent tournament they told me the hotel didn't have availability but the hotel manager said they had plenty. I don't think they want to do their own job but want to charge a ridiculous "fee" for doing NOTHING! Tournament directors! PLEASE PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY FOR HOTELS! Pathetic. Complaint #1 ... We are forced to use these clowns because of a tournament kick back to perfect game. Unless we book X% of rooms through them, our kids can't play. I wonder how much money @perfectgame is getting. 2) our coach has been trying to book hotels for a july 1st tournament for almost two months. No response, then when they do respond it is somebody will get back to you. We literally had to reach out to the TD to reach out to travel teams to get some traction. Our club has 5 teams going. That's almost 75 rooms. + or - .... I'm passed that they are using extortion to mKe us use traveling teams pathetic service. I would encourage every parent to leave a negative post as long as they continue to use those business practices. Their customer service is atrocious and they will allow you to pay an exempt fee of $750 to not have to use them to book. I would highly recommend this action because they are complete trash. Our coach had to pull our team out of the tournament due to the price gouging this company was charging for hotel rooms. Pretty bad when we can get better rates on a generic hotel website. When you contact them they tell you lies then deny that they ever spoke to you. I spoke with a person named Carter who lied to me and did nothing to help resolve my issue then proceeded to deny ever speaking with me. Next I spoke with Justin who also did nothing to resolve my issue and passed me off to another person that did nothing. We reserved two nights at a Holiday Inn Express through these people. With one week to go before the tournament the schedule changed and we didn't need to arrive so early so we only needed a room for one night. We called and emailed travel teams and they assured us via email that we only had one night reserved. we were still billed for two nights by Holiday Inn, contacted Travel teams and they say we only Should have been billed for one night. Holiday inn says we were a "no-show" and won't refund the money. We are out $134. Will never do this again! read more

Do not use Traveling Teams! Sadly we had no choice because the organization over us says we have to or we are out of the tournament. This travel agency is anything but that. They don't do anything except overcharge for hotel rooms. Knowing that the overcharging happened last year, I asked from the first day I contacted them about the cost. It has now been two months-and I have received no answer about that question. After talking to the hotel about what portion of the money they get, we verified the overcharging. I don't begrudge a business making a profit, but we should at least get some decent customer service out of the deal. So, overcharging, no customer service, slow response time, and an incredibly inefficient and ineffective way of dealing with the hotels makes Traveling Teams the absolutely wrong place to do business with. read more

My husband just paid over $600 for 4 nights in a hotel Traveling Teams set up for our team in order to satisfy the room block requirement of a stay to play tournament. A more accurate title would be "pay to play". This is such a rip off! We are 45 minutes from the park where we will play and must negotiate Atlanta traffic! Are you kidding me?! This hotel is not anywhere I would EVER stay. Let me reiterate, NEVER would I book this place on my worst day on my last dime. If I could have our money refunded, we would leave and check in elsewhere. I would prefer to pay the penalty than give more money to Traveling Teams and stay in a cheap, shady hotel. ALSO, we have been waiting weeks for a refund of a deposit for a tournament we chose not to attend. Evidently it takes a month for a refund. We waited 2 weeks and received nothing then were told it takes 15-20 days to cut a check and that's with a "rush" placed on the request. I had the confirmation number. The hotel could care less. I had no where to stay. Their sales team is terrible - they dropped the ball multiple times, switched contacts 3 times without communicating and then the manager flat out lied to me to cover her butt. I would NOT recommend this to any type of traveling sports group. We were booked with this company for two nights for a baseball tournament in April. The tournament was canceled due to weather. Traveling Teams and the hotel booked my family for one nights stay and still charged us! We are still not refunded and dealt with very poor customer service. Nope. Don't buy it. Here's what I think traveling teams does. They book group rates which can be done by anyone with a group. The deposit that is paid to traveling teams is the markup that is kept as a few and the remainder paid to the hotel is the genuine hotel cost. On top of that the hotel compensates Traveling Teams for being a travel agent. It is simply a money maker which is fine, that is the intention of a business. While it is not your fault it is mandatory to use Traveling Teams it is the fault of the tournament organization and when there are no hotels left or only the most expensive or horrible ones you are still forced to use the organization and you are told next time book earlier. That doesn't seem a business built on customer service. And for the record, I have yet to find a hotel representative who sings the praises of Traveling Teams either. read more

Absolutely one of the biggest scams I have seen in the travel ball circle. An employee actually admitted that they do not fully disclose cancelation policies on the travel confirmation document provided to you when you reserve the room thru Traveling Teams. This essentially creates a situation that forces the customer to purchase the travel insurance. I was on hold for 30 minutes with the company to cancel a reservation due to a tournament cancelation and was told I could not cancel and a team or event manager would have to contact Traveling Teams and that we would still not be eligible for a full refund since the decision to cancel the tournament was past the online cancelation date per Traveling Teams policy. I would hope that tournament organizers and travel team coaches would reconsider playing in the "stay to play" tournaments to prevent the parents from potentially being defrauded out of hundreds of dollars in hotel reservations. read more

We travel at least twice a year with a soccer team. This is the first time we were forced to use a booking service in order to be able to register for a tournament. I'm sure the club that is hosting the tournament gets a portion of what is spent, and that's not necessarily an issue for me. What is an issue, is lack of response, incorrect reservations and charging more than what we could have received on our own. When I first inquired about a block of rooms and gave them how many we needed, we had 48 hours to complete the bookings or we would lose the rooms. That's not much time, considering the tournament was 4 weeks out. I asked the day before the deadline for a one day extension.... and was told very matter of factly, "No, the rooms will be released tomorrow if not booked". Over the course of the next couple of weeks, emails and phone calls would go un-answered for more than at least a day, if I was lucky enough to hear back. Sometimes I didn't even get a response. I made my reservations over the phone with Traveling Teams. When I received the confirmation, I realized they put incorrect dates, so I called and sent an email to get this corrected. Nobody responded for two days, even after I sent follow up emails about this. By the time they got back with me, the room I needed was not available! How is it not available if we had this block 4 weeks in advance and we're still a week and a half away?? Again, not much help from them, just another matter of fact answer of "well it's not available any more." I had to settle for a room that really didn't work for us. Lastly, after being the travel organizer/coach for the team over the years, every single time (20+) my rooms have been comped or at least given a 50% discount for being the organizer. This is common practice for hotels. Not with Traveling Teams. They want you to spend more, not save. Our hotel rooms were $14.00 more per night going through Traveling Teams than what I was quoted directly from the hotel while I was doing my research. If you are forced to use Traveling Teams, as we were, I hope you have better luck than we did. If you are a tournament director and host a stay to play event, I suggest using a different service. If we see a tournament and it's a stay to play event using Traveling Teams, we will not register. read more

Traveling Teams is a middle man looking to profit from youth sports; they do not provide any value to parents. Group hotel rates can be booked by anyone so this is not a benefit exclusive to travel agents like Traveling Teams. They booked a hotel for my son's U12 soccer team at a hotel with a pool undergoing renovations. If Traveling Teams was half decent at doing their job then they would have known this and not booked this hotel for a team of 11 year old boys. I called the hotel myself and that's how we found out the pool was not open and we had to request a hotel change with Traveling Teams. So we had to pay extra to use your service and we had to do our own leg work - tell me again what value you provide? You exist to be the middle man and charge parents more so our children can play youth sports - simple as that. You bring zero value. read more

They rarely respond to requests, so many hotels don't want to work with them because they are so difficult to deal with and they don't keep their word. I would the give the company a 0 if I could. Agree with previous posts. There is no reason to use Traveling teams. The company does not provide any added value. You can always get a better hotel rate, in our team's case, we could have saved $25 per night. The hotels they have agreements with, I would never stay at. There is a lot of fine print about canceling a reservation. When you book, they add $6 insurance fee. Ridiculous! Hotels allow guests to cancel reservations up to 24 hours in advance of arrival, no questions asked. There was also a 2 night required minimum again, ridiculous. Also, In the event of a full reservation cancellation a $35 cancellation fee will apply unless you purchased the Service and Protection plan or your team is not attending the tournament. Tell me how this adds value? It is much cheaper and so much easier to book directly with a hotel. Don't understand how this company is in business. read more
