The owners make it no secret they actively watch the cameras and will provide real-time feedback of guest's activities. The owners also have extreme cleaning requirements for checkout. If you do not meet these requirements they will send you a followup email containing details and pictures of your transgressions. For example, there is an unwritten expectation to clean the toilet before leaving even though a toilet brush is not provided. I have never encountered such expectations at other resorts, vacation rentals, or hotels. Additionally, the owners have a clear preference for individual cabin rentals. Large groups and children are discouraged, which might be a consideration if you're planning a family vacation, reunion, or a group trip. This focus on maintaining a serene environment may not suit everyone's vacation plans. However, if you're a retiree looking to go fishing or kayaking this is your place. This was our second summer at the resort and will be our last. Our family group rented 6 cabins, some traveling from out of state. Our group ranged from grandparents to young kids. We are a fairly quiet group that doesn't "party", nor do we stay up late. We did our best to stay out of other guests way and share the communal areas. The owners made us feel like a bother and unwelcome during our stay. We cleaned up after ourselves and cleaned the cabins before we left. Even still, we received emails after our stay indicating toilets were not cleaned and a couple of crumbs were left on a counter. While I can appreciate the owners' high standards for cleaning and grounds maintenance, they do not have enough staff to maintain those standards and instead push the responsibility onto their guests. Overall, Betsie Riverside Resort is a lovely destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in well-kept surroundings. Just be mindful of the owners' preferences, expectations, and the presence of active security camera monitoring if you're looking for a more relaxed and private experience.

This was the closest place with very reasonable prices. I was shocked at how affordable they are. Staying on weekdays and weekends, the average cost per night was only 75! The cabin was clean and had just what you need. Queen bed , a mini fridge, heater, a/c! They do have grills for each cabin but you are better off bringing your own. The provided grill is small. The bathrooms and shower were very well kept. Clean and always supplied with TP. They had firewood for purchase at 25 cents a log. They had 2 boats (canoes) to use. No extra money required. Quiet hours were respected and everyone staying there was friendly. Steve in the front was awesome. Great customer service. This place really knows how to take care of their customers and they truly care about their facility. It all shows. I will be coming back here if I travel up north again. Keep up the great work!

She said the girl that made the reservation "didn't understand what I was talking about". This area doesn't have a plethora of available camping on the spot so we were left high and dry! BUT! We did find a LOVELY place (that literally had a cancellation that same day) if you're stuck in the same situation with these people. Chain O'Lakes Campground is AMAZING!! ZERO STARS to Honcho Rest. Coming in from Seattle, we booked this for a wedding we were attending nearby for one of my boyfriend's best friends. Unfortunately, we came down with Covid and immediately tried to get in touch with this hotel to cancel our reservation. Their line rang endlessly and instead of being able to leave a voicemail, the call ended with a continuous busy signal after regular dial tones. I must have called at least 20 times when we were within the 7 day cancellation policy. I eventually got through to their voicemail and left a total of 2-3 voicemails, in which I stated the issue with their line and not being able to get through to a person or leave a VM, at the very least. Those also went unanswered. By the time the crew got back to me, we were conveniently outside the 7 days to cancel for a full refund. I then asked to get in touch with the manager, as no one seemed empathetic, understanding, or helpful in dealing with this already painful situation. I spoke with Cari, the general manager, over text, as she wouldn't call me...She coldly offered me a 50% refund as a best case scenario, ignoring all the steps I took to cancel and get 100% of the reservation back. She then said 100% would only be possible if they filled the room, which didn't seem fair at all. I then asked to speak with the owner. The next day, I received an email from Anna, one of the owners. She also avoided the phone call I requested and blamed meetings...I, too, am in meetings most of the day, but there is always 5 minutes that can be found, especially given all I had gone through up to this point. She also pressured me into cancelling the reservation so they could try to re-rent the room, but I wasn't comfortable potentially losing 50% of this reservation if they didn't rebook it (they had 2 other rooms that were cheaper available so the odds didn't seem good). I gave her full context of what happened up to this point, and she disregarded all of it, referring back to the cancellation policy. I did explain that I would be involving my credit card company to dispute the full charge as well as write an honest review, since we tried cancelling many times within the cancellation policy. Instead of doing the right thing, she stated "Please note, threatening to harm our business with a false review disqualifies you from receiving a full refund regardless of whether it gets booked, so I do not recommend taking that action." Following these communications, I received 2 more calls from the staff "returning my calls" from weeks prior...each time I re-explained what happened and pleaded for them to do the right thing. At this point, we've been fully credited by our credit card company and I'm summarizing what happened to us in detail so you are fully aware with who you are booking with. Rest assured nothing written here is falsified and I'm only highlighting the "customer service" behind this company. I have full receipts of everything, in case anyone from this company tries to say anything to the contrary. As painful as it was to have to cancel this very important trip, the owners of this location did nothing to sympathize with our situation, let alone take ownership for their flawed phone system and their overall lack of organization/customer service, and all over $200 (total reservation was $400). Please don't book with this company, as our friends were very happy booking elsewhere for their stays.

In the morning, we woke up to snow, and the same gal that checked us in told us she cleaned the snow off our car once and then proceeded to clear my car off again for us. I have never experienced such great hospitality at a motel/hotel, and I travel quite a bit. The girls and I went in for the continental breakfast...they had small milk bottles, Tropicana oj, muffins, bagels, granola bars, bread, and coffee. The facilities are very modern, well kept and you have plenty of room on your flat gravel site. The bathrooms are excellent as are the showers. They don't have a store per se, but there is a gas station, convenience store at the exit to the park. There is a section with seasonal campers, but week to week rigs also are in their own section. There are sites with some shade, but not so many trees to make it hard to pull through or have your awning open. The people were a mix of young people, older couples and families. We would stay there again.

We'll go about 30 minutes to Pearls Louisiana restaurant In Elkhart. Got a boat then drop it in Torch lake which is again within the small town of Alden . Oh, did I mention the beautiful ocean Blue Pool as you first pull in. Easy left or right dump station on your way out. Cabins galore and tent camping too! Nice walk around camping areas , a Pavilion that is about 50 x 80 feet and has a fire place. Firewood can be delivered to your sight and a Ice cream truck has been known to roam around too or just drop in the store for goodies! We are R.V. campers and this is one of the nicest ones we have visited in Michigan , Ohio, and Indiana. We will be back and Probably this year .thank you for such an enjoyable campground!

My husband and I were looking to…read moreget away for a weekend last minute and after calling around to a handful of places for camping which were all full (last weekend of the Cherry Festival), I reached out to Jerry of Paradise Cove and he was happy to host us. He and his wife, Barb, were so incredibly hospitable and kind - they checked the sites before we booked to make sure they weren't too wet (we had just come off a week with a lot of rain) and that they would accommodate our camper. He met us at the drive when we arrived to make sure we got parked okay (sites are on the smaller side, about 20 feet wide with large trees in between). And he even brought up a fire ring and firewood to our site when we asked about a place to have a fire! As they also own the Paradise Cove restaurant and marina just down the street from the campground, I'm sure they are busy folks and that makes this level of customer service that much more special! Currently the campground is under development, so only a portion of their current 16 sites are ready for use (some don't have electric service and they don't currently take tent or pop-up campers as there are no bathroom facilities). The view of Lake Leelanau from sites 1-10 is beautiful, the road the sites share with the residential neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and it was a perfect jumping off point for the adventures we wanted to have in the Traverse City, Old Mission Peninsula, Leelanau Peninsula, and Sleeping Bear Dunes area. We look forward to seeing how the campground grows and to a return visit!
