Our experience at the Delamar Traverse City was exceptional. This was a quick, but special trip to celebrate my Wife's 50th birthday. The staff was super friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door, while the lobby and sprawling yet open hallway compelled us to peruse the guest options (i.e. heated indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, onsite highly rated restaurant, comfortable indoor and outdoor gathering areas, outdoor bar, great coffee stand, etc.). We were surprised by an upgraded room - corner suite due to our special celebration. The room was amazing - spacious, comfortable and with a great lake view, a full and half bath. The workout room is small and leaves a bit to be desired if you are used to a gym, but does the trick for a one-off cardio or strength training. I would highly recommend the Delamar for a romantic getaway, a great place to stay for a wine tour on the Old Mission Point, a family trip, a work trip and more. Absolutely loved this hotel stay. The heated outdoor pool was such a unique experience to be able to swim outside in the beginning of April in Michigan! They have private Cabanas that you can reserve as well that are very reasonably priced! They also have an indoor pool and sauna available. The view of the bay from our room was also beautiful! They offer so many amenities, gym (including a Peloton), restaurants, beach access, pools, sauna and so much more. Definitely a great stay for us! read more

From the beginning to the end, we were blown away by a fantastic stay at the Delamar, making us feel we'd been whisked away to a tropical resort. To start, Becky checked us in, making us feel comfortable first away. Complimentary sparkling wine took the edge off the long drive and Becky helpfully explained all the amenities, hours, etc. The hotel boasts two beautiful pools: indoor and outdoor. Indoor has fun paper lantern like balls on the ceiling and a green wall with 3D plants coming out. Also has a hot tub sharing a wall with pool so I could talk with hubby while I was swimming and he was in hot tub. Outdoor has lights strung on top with changing colors in the water and cabanas (first come first serve). Both open until 11p. The artisan restaurant is a bit pricey and fancy so we didn't try it, opting for brewpubs in town. Three tiers of rooms. Standard looks over parking lot and might see some of the lake. Pool overlooks the pool area which is very pretty. Our room had bay view so we could watch the waves. Although the sound barrier is incredible. We couldn't hear the water but also didn't have to hear the construction at all despite it being on the street on the front of the hotel! I'm typically very bothered by noise and could hear nothing at all, not even other hotel guests through the walls. However, the HVAC system seemed to always be on so the fan seemed constant. My husband loved the white noise. I didn't like the noise nor did I like the fan blowing on me constantly at night. The sink is deep in the bathroom, allowing for easy water bottle filling. And the soap is luxurious , so I didn't need to use lotion after wards. Shower pressure is decent. Walk in shower. Breakfast is complimentary and designed as a grab and go. I'd rather have had the option of reusable silverware, coffee mug , plates etc. but everything was disposable. It also meant that , at least during the week when we were there, the selection of food was minimal. Although more options would have been nice, the items provided were delicious. The granola was our favorite. There was no 2% milk nor skim but there was whole milk as well as oat. I poured the milk into a paper cup, added granola, to make cereal. Fruit was plentiful and fresh. Croissants were good although I thought the vegan muffin was too dense. Coffee was well brewed albeit a bit bitter for my preference. My husband said the hot water tasted like coffee so it was hard for him to make his green tea in the morning. The staff were courteous and constantly refilling everything. Our favorite aspects of the hotel were the myriad of different places to chill. The main lounge had a gas fireplace, complimentary board games, tables, couches etc. but there were also chairs and tables scattered in hallways and nooks so there was always somewhere to relax. Outside there were two main areas to relax, in addition to the bar area complete with bocce ball. Both areas had a lovely view of the sunset over the water, and had comfy chairs and couches around gas lit fireplaces which many of us roasted marshmallows for complimentary s'mores. There's also a beach on property with swimming. We enjoyed watching a mama duck take her little baby ducklings for a walk or a swim along the beach. All in all, with the discount provided for those living in surrounding states, this hotel was spectacular for the price. read more

Awesome hotel! Updated and modern. Tons of parking out front of the hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice touch with complimentary glass of bubbly as you check-in. Complimentary breakfast in the morning which was pretty good for free! Pastries, juices, fruit, hot breakfast sandwich, and overnight oats to name a few. Tons of cozy seating to enjoy your breakfast. The hotel is directly on the water which provides wonderful views! Two pools - one indoor and one outdoor. The outdoor pool had great cabanas and lots of seating. Beach seating along the coastline as well. The beach is not very large but large enough for some longue chairs. Our room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was nicely done with tile and large to move around in. The room had a refrigerator and tons of stuff in the mini bar. Our room was large enough to have a couch and desk. Had a great stay here when we were stranded in TC for two days due to several flight delays and cancellations. Pros: - 2 pools: one outdoor and one indoor. Both a little small but fine. - Hot tub whirlpool inside and sauna - Free breakfast, including sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, etc. - Free coffee in the lounge all day (but sometimes they forget to put it out so you have to remind them) - Fridge in the room and option for a tea kettle - Bvulgari toiletries in the rooms - Free fiji water bottles in the room and gym - Onsite dining at the waterfront restaurant (very expensive though for average food) - Onsite gym with peloton bike, two treadmills, and some hand weights (but it's fairly small and stuffy inside) - Free shuttle service to airport and downtown - Board games and s'mores in the lounge - Common lounge with tables to do work (was fine most of the day but got loud in the afternoon) - 3 water sports vendors in the parking lot for kayaks, jet skis, boats, etc. - outdoor patio dining with drinks, lunch, and light snacks (enjoyed the fish tacos) Cons: - No business center or area that is guaranteed to be quiet to take calls. - Had trouble reaching the front desk and guest services when I called from my room. Called both lines multiple times and it just rang endlessly. I gave up and just went downstairs to the front desk. - There was an on site bistro but it was closed the entire time. - Not really walking distance to much except 3 fast food chains (McDonald's, KFC, and Taco Bell) read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. The building façade is old architecture, we were reluctant to use the hotel, but was recommended by the tourism office. We went into the lobby and we were very pleasantly surprised. I received a Michigan discount, we were handed a glass champagne(OK sparkling wine). Very welcoming. The lobby is very open, sitting area with a fire, indoor pool. Outside areas with fires in mid September the gardens were just spectacular and very calming after a long drive. So Peaceful. The room was beautiful. I did note a on a few items need repair but other than that totally acceptable. I was not impressed with the breakfast. Four dollars for a bad cup of coffee. Options were limited. They also offered a shuttle service to areas around Traverse City although we did not take up the offer. read more

Had such a great stay! There was a ton of construction in front of the hotel. Wish the website would have given a better heads up on that. There was only a statement regarding construction going on in the area so that may increase travel times. I highly suggest you get a lake facing room. Stunning views! The rooms are a great size and were very clean! The bedding was comfy and clean! The bed was decent, but I think that all relates to personal preference. Breakfast was great! Not a whole lot of offerings, but what is there is quality. The multiple pools are really beautiful. I did not swim so I can only speak to how they looked. Hot tub, sauna, all were very clean. I do have to say that it seems that the housekeeping staff seem to really care here. Makes a big difference in a stay! Quite a few great amenities as well as one of the best restaurants in the area on site! Overall there were a couple of hiccups in our stay that I won't disclose here because the bulk of the stay was positive. One negative I will mention...the walls seemed pretty thin. My friend and I were in Traverse City right after the holidays, so we stayed in the Delamar for several nights. Overall, I was fairly pleased- the hotel has several amenities that I really enjoyed, like a relaxing lounge where you could read, play games (all supplied), or just sit beside the fire place; an outdoor heated pool (picture swimming during a snow storm, catching snow flakes with your tongue while your body from the neck down is in 92 degree water; a large, relaxing whirlpool; and a sauna room. The hotel also hosts yoga and therapy classes on a regular basis- I took a class that had an excellent instructor. The room was decent, with a good view of Traverse Bay- I enjoyed looking out at the water frequently while laying on the bed reading or watching tv. We did have some service glitches- several times we had called room service to have the beds made or to get new glasses and towels; one request took a few hours to get someone up there. Overall though, the staff were friendly and helpful. Although we found the restaurant fare not quite to our liking, it is there for your convenience. The menu is somewhat limited, but if you don't want to venture out into the cold or other weather elements, it is there as an option. Overall, four stars, and we hope to be back some day! read more

Previous we were looking for a couple nights in Traverse City to listen to some music downtown and we came upon our old stomping grounds which was the Holiday Inn now the Delamar and decided to check it out. I couldn't tell you what a pleasant experience this was and we're not checked out yet but getting a glass of white sparkling wine at check-in won my heart over. Last day update: I'd give zero to this hotel if I could. They never informed us they'd be doing fire alarm testing. 1. I thought the hotel was on fire 2. The fire alarm keeps going off. I'm so done guys. I left the hotel crying. Don't make the same mistake I did. Firstly, this is not a luxury hotel with a luxury experience. It's a Big meh. It's too bad too because I was really excited for my weekend. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly, everything is really worn out and there is no love in the hotel. It looks neglected-especially the furniture. The hotel reminds me of a Days Inn. It would be a nice hotel if you've never been to a nice hotel. If you have, get ready to be so disappointed. The cost does not match the experience. I'd much rather pay a Days Inn with no expectations than pay a little extra to be let down. The shower is the worst. It's a rain-type shower but it has no pressure and there is no shower door. The bathroom door slides and constantly comes off its rail. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom and the sliding door does nothing for any smells that may happen in there. The blankets are light, like sleeping covered in paper. There is nothing free but coffee in the room but plenty of overpriced things to accidentally eat. For example, the one shot of vodka in there that is $15. It's all a big meh. A relaxing stay with some hiccups - refreshing cucumber water and sparkling wine at check-in. Comfortable beds, but a somewhat cramped bathroom with a shower that doesn't make sense - poor drainage and a half enclosure so water sprays out to the floor no matter how much you angle. Nice floor to ceiling window and view to bay. Great pools, lively patio, outdoor games, nice patch of beach to relax on - also great for kids to keep them entertained. Yummy snacks of chicken tenders and a charcuterie board on the patio, with a great bar. Negatives - the whirlpool hot tub was out of service with yellow caution tape - no mention of this when booking or at check-in. Breakfast - few options beyond solid coffee, stale (tried a couple) and overpriced pastry and very limited unappetizing and way overpriced menu items. Entirely empty cold case. No fresh fruit. Lovely but empty breakfast seating area - no reason to sit as there's nothing to eat! We have two kids and I had to drive and pickup a healthy, decent, hot breakfast - no quick, walkable options. I gather this space just opened, but try again-it's unacceptable this is what's offered at a so-called resort hotel and there were no breakfast offerings from the restaurant, as I could see. Also, I had to turn on my television to block out the couple next door who had very loud all nighters. Not a prude, but it's ridiculous the walls are that thin-could hear everything in much too much detail! read more

My family has been going here yearly since it was a Holiday Inn. It has gotten fancier and more expensive over the years. The staff is amazing and the pools and the beach are wonderful. Tons of young families with small children now. They've started charging like $30 an hour for cabanas by the pool which does not seem worth it to me. The menu for food on the patio or by the pool has also shrunk yearly, now down to four items. Also, even though prices have gone up, the breakfast is no longer complimentary and there are less breakfast options. It's no longer a Holiday Inn. So be careful with the name. Excellent location, right at the beginning of downtown. Busy Street with no cross walk so be careful! Be advised this is a hotel where you can hear everything. Walking in the hallway you can hear full conversations inside guest rooms. Laying in bed I could hear someone using the bathroom next door. It is loud with zero privacy. Two beds with nice bedding. Zero chairs or sitting room. Bathroom is a closet, only big enough for one person to turn around. Mini fridge was helpful. $20 extra for this partial view of the bay. Clearly under construction. Beware of the parking lot pot holes. Also the third & forth floors were a hike to a second set of elevators after walking the entire second floor. read more

Such a great place on the water! A little cloudy the day we were there but didn't detract from the experience. The hotel is nicely updated and has some great amenities. In contrast to the supposed 5 star hotel we started at in NYC the week before, Delamar had in room coffee, rain shower showerhead, heated mirror to prevent fogging, and many more options not normally seen in hotels these days. Second visit here and again the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Josh drove us around and he was such a sport dealing with 7 women. Josh definitely deserves a raise. The issues I noticed this time were the rooms have only 1 mirror and when you have several people sharing a room it makes getting ready difficult. Several plugs in our room did not work, and let's be real with today's technology charging our devices became a real challenge. We reserved a cabana in the pool area and had a blast. It was freezing getting in and out of the heated pool but what a unique amenity at this place. Our server was great but sadly I can't remember her name. Unfortunately, our guest room was subpar and we could have saved a ton of money staying elsewhere. The lobby and the rooms are two totally different hotels. If you told me I was staying in a roadside motel, I honestly would have believed you because the room was just that gross. - Excessive amount of wallpaper glue leftover and bubbling due to a very poor wallpaper job. At first we thought the wall was dirty/dusty - Who needs a real door when you can have a shower curtain instead? - Couch arm had a huge stain - The bathtub was COVERED in black and pink mold plus the floor grippers are stained brown. I loved this hotel! Just a couple minor things made it a 4 star rather than 5 star. The complimentary sparkling wine at check in is nice. I like the tropical bird wallpaper on each floor. There is a decent fitness center with a peloton! And ellipticals and some free weights. Also a yoga studio but I did not get a chance to check those classes out. There is a complimentary breakfast from 7-10 am each day at the artisan restaurant that's actually quite good for continental! Egg sandwiches, parfaits, baked goods, juices, and really good coffee. A complimentary shuttle that can take you to and from the airport and downtown TC. Everyone that works there is really nice and helpful. My only couple of gripes were I really hate the shower lol it has a half glass panel and the other half is just open so you really can't get it too hot in there unless you keep the door shut. The temperatures throughout the hotel varied a lot too, some really warm and some really cold areas. Otherwise this is a lovely hotel in a great location and I would absolutely stay again. read more

Fantastic hotel, close to everything in Traverse City, with a really, really good restaurant on the grounds. We came with our 18 month old, and it was perfect for him. My family and I were very impressed during our stay. The hotel was clean and all staff went out of their way at times to help with small things (opening doors when they were close by). The area is also really inviting, with beaches nearby for kids to play at and boat rentals right out the front door. We were pleasantly surprised that breakfast was included (and was actually good) and some of the small things were really nice surprises (free smores kits, free use of cabanas by pool, heated pool, sauna, board games for family). Checked in at about 4:00 PM on Saturday. Staff treated us great and made the check in process quick and seamless. We left our bags and continued down-town for dinner. We returned at around 10:30 and quickly went to bed as we had to be up early the next morning. Only to wake up at 12:00 AM to people screaming and whistling below us. This continued until 3AM as people shouted and partied in the "night club" and out in the parking lot. Not only were people shouting screaming and carrying on but country music played just as loud as the people screaming. I wish I would have read some of the negative reviews before staying; how loud this place is. Seems more like a frat house than a resort. The rooms look to be from the 60s and recently wallpapered to appear clean and modern. Apparently the resort values people attending the nightclub more than those who have paid $450 a night to stay... I was expecting the Ritz for that type of pricing but unfortunately stayed in a sub par room, smelling of smoke, and listening to country music while praying that it would all end. read more

I would like to make a suggestion to the hotel - make the lighting brighter in the room and bathroom. It was much too dim and there wasn't a well lighted spot to do my makeup or see into suitcases. Also need a larger luggage rack. It was too small for either of our suitcases and wish there were it would be nice if there were two. read more

This hotel was extremely disappointing. From the rude staff to the dirty rooms.. I do not recommend staying here. ESPECIALLY during a pandemic! Upon arrival I had to be switched three times because the rooms were just downright filthy. Stains all over, piles of dust in the vents, shower had dirt and hair in it. Felt extremely stuffy and just cold. There were gross and questionable stains all over the ceiling, headboard and carpet. I luckily brought my own disinfectant wipes and cleaned surfaces as best I could. You can tell these rooms don't get cleaned well IF at all! The staff was not helpful and acted as if we were the issue. Trust me, I wasn't having fun having to keep going down to the front desk to ask for another room when all I wanted to do was get settled in. I literally had to shower with my sandals on because the shower tile was disgusting and full of gunk. I felt very very uncomfortable in my room to say the least. It was unacceptable to have such an unclean room on any day but during a pandemic... come on!!! The restaurant: they wouldn't allow us to order our food outside unless it was a carry out so fine, we ordered a carry out. This carry out took over TWO HOURS. We had to keep checking in and asking where our food was after 45 min of sitting and waiting patiently. When we finally got our food two hours later... it was AWFUL! I order a burger and fries. Who can mess that up? Two hours to get a cold, undercooked burger? I was so fed up but after 4 hours of traveling and not eating all day, at this point I was starving so I just forced myself to eat it. Not a proud moment. I couldn't wait to leave that hotel. It was by far the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at and the worst customer service to top it off. This hotel needs a ton of work to live up to the standards of the Delamar Hotel brand. I've stayed at their other locations in CT and they were very nice, very clean and top notch hotels. If this property is still under room renovation then they need to tell guest before booking and not charge luxury hotel prices. To pay over $400 per night, for a half done old Holiday Inn, borders on being fraudulent by using this brand name. It's more than disappointing to be in a room that feels like a old budget hotel. The room we stayed in was clean, for the most part, except for the tattered walls, molding shower tile, holes in the wall and the many black marks on the walls. Really shotty workmanship was apparent throughout the room too. We were provided a discount when we mentioned the condition of the room to the front desk but it's still not enough compensation to substitute for the deception of their brand standard. This is fair warning to be very cautious if ready to book a stay here; this is not anywhere remotely close to the other Delamar properties. Don't be fooled. I am not sure if they think visitors to TC are not as sophisticated as those staying in CT so they feel they can provide an extremely poor product at a very high price and get away with it. Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was nice and clean but can't say it was worth the money. The staff was semi friendly but they seemed more interested in talking up the hotel and restaurant "we are the next up and coming hot spot" than providing amazing service. If you stay during the weekend and there is a wedding, be prepared to experience very loud bass music that can be heard on the 3rd floor between 9-11ish. The artisan restaurant was ok. Music was very loud and felt like I had to yell to talk to my husband who was seated right next to me. read more

Nice hotel with a great restaurant and its right on the water. We parked at the hotel and walked everywhere with the lakefront and down town shopping area. Room was clean and tidy. Nice pool area and a great outdoor lounge area with live entertainment at times. Would stay here again. read more
