Travis Air Force Base (KSUU) is located in Fairfield, California. The base has its origins all the…read moreway back to 1942. It is named after Brigadier General Robert F. Travis who died in a B-29 crash there in 1950. Both of its offset runways area quite long at 11,000 and 10995 feet. Travis, is the home of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, part of the USAF Air Mobility Command. It is primarily a home to C-5's, C-17's, and KC-10's. In addition as the "Gateway to the Pacific" it hosts a variety of units just passing through on they way East or West. In addition there is a USN detachment of E-6B Mercury (TACAMO) aircraft as this is considered one of their West Coast outposts (Normally they are based at Tinker AFB, in Oklahoma). The David Grant USAF Medical Center, a 200+ bed hospital is also on the base. Unless you have business or stationed on the base there is no visiting. However, it is a phenomenal place to plane spot as the various aircraft there practice touch and goes, and are in such demand you are guaranteed to catch a few. In addition ot the plethora of Cargo and refueling aircraft, you also can get lucky on occasion and get other interesting transients like the Blue Angels, RAF, RAAF, LC-130H's, T-38's and the odd fighter aircraft

You can also get death and marriage certs here which are a lot cheaper.The records office is located on the 2nd floor. There was no line but you still need to sign in and get a ticket number. The process was very quick. Everyone who works here was genuinely kind. When I came into the building looking lost, a random worker directed me to the right area. There's a public parking garage (2nd and 3rd floor) as well as street parking.

I purchased a home in Solano County. When first tax bill came, it had the old owners name. I…read morecalled and was told it could take several months to be fixed. This was problematic as I am eligible for a tax credit. Because of the incorrect name, they could not revise my property tax bill. I was advised to pay the incorrect amount under the old property owners name and I would eventually get a credit back for the amount I over paid. I was not happy but I did it. Almost 10 months went by from my purchase date, and they finally corrected the name, but have still not adjusted the property tax due, and cannot find the two emails I sent to them with the completed paperwork for the exemption. They have further stated that I might need to continue paying the incorrect property tax, because they have not processed anything. Glenn Zook, the Assessor recording leaves a very nice voice mail message about his staff providing excellent customer service. I beg to differ and would love to have a conversation about their customer service.
