There are so many other things to love about GTCC, but the other day I rented the clubhouse for a baby shower and that is my main reason for writing a review. This was a PERFECT rental facility for our event! It is really pretty and clean inside with use of a mini-kitchen, a bar area, a ton of tables, chairs, some couches and also a lot of space. The managers are excellent communicators. They were flexible with our set-up plan and the price was fantastic for what you get! If you are considering this venue you should look no further!

My family became members of SCC when I was 6. People can tease me all they want about my hoity-toity upbringing, but I can't deny that the country club played a huge part in my childhood. Tennis lessons, pool activities, Sunday brunches, 4th of July fireworks, wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs. All of it was great fun! Growing up, I always dreamed of having a house as grand as SCC's clubhouse. I am still in awe of its classic design to this day. The pool is bustling every summer with children activities and the tennis courts are well-maintained. I'm not a golfer but according to my parents, SCC is one of the top 3 courses in Toledo. The ballroom is home of Sunday brunch and private receptions, the mixed grill on the lower level is for casual dining, and the 19th Hole is bar/lounge reserved for golfers only. All in all, the grounds are beautiful (I'll upload pictures on my next visit), and the club remains as classy as it was 20 years ago. If you are in the market for a membership, SCC is the best club in the area.

It's very welcoming and because of the number of golf and social events it's easy to meet other members. But what makes Lakelands special is the staff. They work hard at keeping the club professional but relaxed and offering up good food, drink, golf and an environment that feels like an oasis from the daily grind. The golf course is almost always in wonderful shape despite a good amount of play and while it's short it is an excellent track for match play or to work on shots you don't find at other courses. Almost every hole has multiple options for how to play it to accommodate any caliber of play.

Most of them play golf here and have a great time fellowshipping here. The staff is always cordial and very friendly, our meeting normally goes for about two hours, which includes a great dinner, which is always served nice and hot. I read a few reviews about their spa nights and wine nights, so I may have to come back and check it out for myself. Nothing like a good spa day with tasting their wine. There's always plenty of parking and the grounds always look very well kept. This is one event we always look forward to coming to every year.

I thought I might die. Or, at least pass out…read more I reminded myself it was only an hour class. And, ok, ok, so it didn't kill me. It was the first time I'd seriously picked up a racket in almost 12 years. I used to play tennis for a short stint in high school, long long ago. It was the only sport I've ever really competed in. I was pretty decent. But that was over a decade ago. What convinced me that when my mom dropped out of class called "cardio tennis," I should take her place? I was obviously not in my right mind. Despite my wheezing and lack of desired degree control over the ball, I managed to get through, and get one hell of a workout in the process. I don't think it's something I'll be doing regularly (particularly since there's a tennis court right behind my house where I can practice at my own (slower) pace. However, I was grateful for the class because it gave me an excuse to see these facilities. As with most things related to U of M athletics, the Varsity Tennis Center seemed very well funded, well designed, and in great shape. The staff was surprisingly friendly and helpful (even letting me borrow both shoes and a racket), and the locker rooms were squeaky clean. Maybe I'll return for regular tennis lessons -- but no more "cardio tennis" for me, thank you!

I tried sending them an email with no response, and I called them 3 times already, and now they've already billed me for the next 6 months. Every time I am told they will leave a note to their manager, but I haven't seen any changes. How can the keep charging me for a service I don't want?
