As a former resident of Hotel Travis I can honestly say the service was less than accommodating. The Bellmen and Concierge were not interested in bringing my luggage in a timely fashion, nor could they acquire the basic items I had requested many times over the course of my 7 months residing there. The mail delivery service was consistent, but every time it seemed that they were possibly tampering with my mail, however I can not be sure. As for the food, they had a very diverse mix of Tex-Mex and Continental but the flavor left alot to be desired as the use of salt of spices did not seem to be common practice amongst the chefs. One of the most commonly served dishes was what they so eloquently titled "Meat Loaf"; this dish is a gluten free delicacy and while they don't specifically name the source of their meat, it seemed the meat was very fresh and locally sourced from the rat colony that resides right inside the walls of the kitchen. In fact when they got low on their fresh meat supply you could often see what the residents and employees affectionately called the rodeo, when they removed the walls and would gingerly smack the fleeing rats on the head to avoid damaging the meat so it could be as fresh as possible when used for their signature dishes. The other residents seemed to be less than genuine, and could often be counted on to bring an element of danger and potential violence to your vacation experience. There was however a small percentage of other residents who were truly friendly and almost "loving" at times....especially when the spa was open. All in all I have to give Hotel Travis a 1 star rating given the service and Hotel employees were not as amiable and jocular as you would come to expect from such a high end establishment. The upside is that they ALWAYS have an available room to book whenever you feel, and if you invite a friend or family member they will be happy to accommodate their desire to stay here. In closing I must pay homage to the manager of the Hotel and the company who operates this establishment. They were very responsive in settling any issues or complaints poised by myself or other residents, and were always very fair if not quick when resolving any issues. (This is all satire. Don't go to prison, It's not a hotel, and is meant for punishment; It SUCKS) read more
