I finally called after waiting for an hour and a half and was told that they had problems with a delivery on another job. When I asked why they hadn't called to tell me, all they would do is reschedule. Called a man named Andre & scheduled an appointment so he could give me an estimate on a bathroom job. He texted my phone before our scheduled appointment and was gonna come in on the wrong day. After correcting him, he then came late on our actual appointment day. I was still relaxed about it and decided to show him the room. He'd told me he'd send me some estimates later. Never did. Contacted him a few more times to no response. If I'm gonna pay a guy money to do a job, I don't wanna feel like I gotta beg them. So ultimately, I just gotta give a bad review for some really poor communication on their part. read more

Although our place is relatively small, the architecture could be quite challenging to navigate from a painter's perspective. We had Traylor for a remodelling job of our house which involved painting and flooring (incl tiling and floor refinishing) of the entire house and remodelling of the two bathrooms. Overall, it was one of our most pleasant experience working with contracting companies. Andre and his team are professional, attention to detail and always making helpful suggestions when asked. If there's a shortage of finishing material, Andre and Renata will always be the first ones to pick up the order and drop that off at the house so his team waste no time on waiting. They even take the time to show us the choice of the bathroom tile designs so we could see the final designs before making the purchase on our behalf. His crew members are quite experienced (like Carlos and Marco) so work is usually done at high quality without the need to redo it and they always cleaned up at the end of the day. Although the remodelling job finished slightly longer than expected (due to a basement drainage issue we unfortunately only discovered towards the end of the process), Andre was able to fit us in on his very busy schedule to do further rework on our bathroom after the issue is fixed. There is no doubt that if we ever needed the same service again Traylor will be on top of our list and we would highly recommend them to anyone who might need it. Traylor Design & Construction must be the preeminent such company in the Greater Washington area (includes both sides of the Potomac River). I had a serious neighbor-generated smoke immersion problem which was making my condo unit unlivable. A bunch of lawyers fixed the source, but it left me with sizable walls/ceilings/floors to be redone. I hired Traylor Design & Construction on the strength of the user comment. I have not been disappointed. The job required removal of carpet and not one but two layers of wall covering material (not discovered up front), repainting one large bedroom and 19 feet of hallway space with popcorn ceiling and installing new wood topped flooring, walls and doors, and window framing was repainted. The Traylor crew was extraordinarily fast and clean. Traylor was tops for both quality and efficiency. Many months later a small transom flaw was found. A call to Traylor, and it was fixed. No questions asked. I would (will) use them again as other parts of my abode will come into play. Expect no more than market rates for better than market performance. read more

Andre and his crew (Santiago, Omar and Ever) did such a good job. My deck and fence are perfect and exactly how I wanted it. They were professional and nice and I didn't mind them coming in and out of my house. They gave my great advice on what would look best and the best way to care for the wood. They did extra work to make the finished product look nice. I had several contractors come out and they all quoted me twice the amount that Traylor did. Traylor is also the only contractors that were willing to bring material through my townhouse, as it is connected on both sides. They brought drop cloths and cleaned up each day when they left. They finished the job in less than 4 days and there was no damage to the inside of my house after. I am so happy I found them and I would recommend them to anyone! read more

We used Traylor in March of 2020 to tear down a load bearing wall in order to open up our living room and foyer space. From the first consultation with Traylor, we were impressed with their communication, knowledge, and precision. Our work required a permit, a review from the city, and a study from a structural engineer. Traylor managed the entire process for us. Walter and his team were timely, courteous with our space, and kept the area as clean as a construction zone could be, even if that meant extra steps for him and his team. When an existing structural issue was identified during demolition, Andre came by personally and talked us through the options so we understood the impact and to ensure were are in alignment on next steps. When we changed our minds on some last minute details, Andre made sure that we considered all options, and he spent the time and effort to get us exactly what we wanted. Andre and Walter made it look like the changes we made were part of the original design of the house. Like with most construction projects, we knew there would be unforeseen obstacles along the way, so the overall project took about 20% longer than the original estimate, but the end result is exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be happier. Estimate was done quickly, but the communication was definitely lacking. We would communicate, then he would need to get back to me due to schedule.....crickets, no answer. I would call him to verify, then he would says he needs to find out something and get back to me....crickets, no answer. Communication was a zero out of 10. He sent me an estimate, which was reasonable, but it didn't address all I needed for the hardwood floors for my home to refinish. he is personable, but not on top of the job. When it comes to a contractor, the most important thing is character. Is your contractor going to stand by their work or desert you the second anything goes wrong. I had some water leaking from my toilet valve that damaged my drywall a floor below. I found Traylor Design on google, and contacted its owner (Andre) who came out and looked at it that day. Two days later he and his crew arrived to fix the problem. They repaired the drywall, and fixed the valve. Unfortunately, a day later, I noticed the toilet was still leaking and had damaged the drywall they just fixed! Now, they already had my money, and could easily have abandoned me. I contacted Andre and told him the problem, and twenty four hours later his very hardworking group was back and fixed everything, without any additional charge. He never once gave me even the slightest hard time about it. Anyone who has dealt with contractors knows that it can be difficult to get a contractor to come back and fix something they already fixed, especially when its a smaller company like Traylor Design & Construction. When it comes to contracting, it's not rare for a problem to not get fixed on the first attempt, but what is rare is to get someone who stands by their work and comes back to fix the problem. Andre at Traylor Design & Construction, LLC did an amazing job finishing my basement. He came in at the price he promised which was very competitive and he did not leave any part of the job unfinished. I even tacked on a couple of small items for an additional great price. The tile floors he installed are beautiful, the recessed lights are perfectly balanced and spaced on my new ceiling, and the drywall and paint finish the basement perfectly. We hired Andre to paint all of the walls and ceilings in our brand new, 2700 sq ft townhome. He came out and did an estimate, and informed me that he would beat our lowest estimate by 10%. He allowed me to choose as many colors as I wanted, while the other guy i got an estimate from said i could only choose three, plus his price was way higher than Andre's and his time estimate was three times as long. Andre bought all of the paint, which was of good quality, and showed up right on time to start the job. He and his ten person team worked tirelessly for two days to make sure the job was done intime Not only was it done on time, but it was actually done a day early. They did an AMAZING job with everything, and we couldn't be happier. His price was unbeatable, and the work was teriffic. They always say you get what you pay for, but with Andre and his team, i feel like we got far more than what we paid for. Then, he laid new flooring (which I selected, paid for and he picked up), painted my kitchen and the inside and outside of the cabients, installed new designer pulls and knobs, and now it looks like a designer kitchen! Andre completed a kitchen remodel for me a few months ago and I could not be happier. I had an old outdated kitchen that was terrible to come home to. He put up brand new white cabinets, added an island, recessed lighting, granite, removed a wall, added an island, glass tile backsplash, new paint, stainless steel sink, and removed a soffit. The difference is like night and day. The work was done very professionally and looks absolutely beautiful. Back in January (2017), my husband and I hired Andre at Traylor Design and Construction to renovate our kitchen. We had already sourced the materials that we wanted to use--new appliances, new cabinets, new flooring, new backsplash and countertops--but we had decided we wanted to hire an experienced contractor rather than to try to do it ourselves. I couldn't be happier with the results. Andre was professional and personable in every interaction, and his crew was polite, clean, and skilled. We had several little hiccups (we have an old house--some pipes were not where we were expecting them to be when we tore out the cabinets) but they addressed and overcame them quickly and with quality work. Andre was happy to work with any materials or designs I provided but offered another recommendation for sourcing our granite countertops. His recommendation saved my husband and I $200, improved the quality of the countertop we were going to receive, and shortened the order-to-installation time by over a week (at least). Andre and his crew even recommended small design tweaks that would make the kitchen look better. Considering I am not an interior designer by any means, these recommendations were welcomed. I've heard horror stories of kitchen renovations dragging on for weeks (or months!) and constantly creeping higher and higher in cost--that was a huge concern of mine when selecting a contractor.
