You will likely even be greeted by someone dressed head to toe in cowboy attire. There's a sense of charm to that. Downstairs, the clothing selection continues, but you'll also find a small museum dedicated to the memory of Doc Holiday. It's unmanned, but they request a $5 donation to keep the place going. Our family was staying nearby at Mountain Chalet in Snowmass Village for our ski week, and this was…read morethe place that our hotel recommended for our ski equipment rentals and lift tickets. The night we arrived at Snowmass, we headed over to Four Mountain Sports with my ski boots, in order to pick out a pair of skis for me. The young man we spoke with heard what kind of skier I am, and brought out three suggested pairs. I was really eager to try out something a little more aggressive than the K2 One Love, my current pair. The next morning, I clicked into my rented boards and was instantly making all kinds of pleasureful oohs and ahhs for the first several turns down the modest hill to the ski lift. Whoopee! I loved those skis. But wait, there's more. Because after the fluffy snow was all smooshed down from people playing on it for a day or two, I went back and tried one of the other suggested skis, one made for packed snow and even *more* carving and tiny turns. Oh, wow. I loved the precise feel of those. Even though they felt quite damped down and didn't give the soles of my feet as much feedback as I'd expect, the second pair were very quick to initiate a turn. This experience of borrowing skis makes me want to seriously consider an upgrade in a year or two. Having a person who understands the "personality" of each type of ski offered at the shop and who is able to match that to the preferences of each skier is, for me, the number one important thing for customer happiness. I'm confident that the Four Mountains people can recommend something for me next time I'm in that neck of the woods. I found it very convenient that the skis I had borrowed bore my name on a sticker so that I could find them more easily in a crowded ski rack. If I had wanted to change skis more often, they would have hooked me up with anything I had wanted to try. Nice to be unlimited. FYI: The lift ticket is actually a plastic credit card that you keep in your pocket. The gates at the chair lifts and gondola will detect the pass in your pocket and let you in. As part of our one week ticket, each lift ticket received a $20 voucher good toward lunch at one of the on-mountain cafeterias. We also were given a voucher toward shopping with each lift ticket.

I popped into the Two Creeks Cafe yesterday for lunch and went into the Four Mountain Sports to ask…read morefor band aids, as I was breaking in a new pair of ski boots and could feel myself getting some blisters on my ankles. My request for band aids quickly turned into the wonderful Dave Redell stopping me to ask more about what discomfort I was feeling. He ultimately took 20 minutes of his day to sit down with me, explain different elements of my boots, and adjust both my boot shell and my boot liners based on my feedback. I walked out feeling 10x better and learned so much about ski boots in the process. Big thanks to Dave! Highly recommend going to him for any equipment adjustments that you need.
