I was hoping for a much better experience based on previous reviews. We made a reservation for Sunday brunch. When we arrived we were seated promptly and our server was friendly. However, it took an entire hour for us to receive our meals. 3 other parties seated after us received their food and paid their bills before we even received our food. When I mentioned the frustration with the delay to the manager she said she would check with the kitchen but that "we are all humans so mistakes happen". While that statement is very true, she was ready to make excuses as soon as our conversation began. I can't remember the last time I complained at or about a restaurant but I will not return to this restaurant. read more

My husband and I were visiting the area today. We live in Charlotte. We came out for a football game and decided to find a local spot for a late lunch. There were a lot of restaurants to choose around the area. This place captured our attention. It was a very cute and decorative place to eat! We both ordered their lunch special. BLT in pita bread. Treat was definitely one of a kind, given the fact that in order to enter the restaurant part of the facility, you had to walk through a gift shop with a large variety of cute things. My family and I were in town for a wedding, and we decided to try it out, as the menu gave us what we decided was the best selection of all the restaurants in the surrounding area. The service was fairly good, our waitress was a sweet girl who knew what she was talking about when it came to the items on the menu. I decided on the shrimp tacos with a caesar salad, and I enjoyed it, but there was nothing wildly special that stood out about my meal. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals as well. This was an unexpected and delightful find! My husband and I were attempting to go to another cafe nearby that is apparently closed on Saturdays. When we realized that wasn't an option, we were walking back to our car and noticed Treat and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! I had the fish sandwich with sautéed vegetables. My husband was specifically interested in their veggie sandwich, but apparently that isn't available on Saturdays. But the waitress went above and beyond to help him find a delicious vegetarian option. He ended up having a "chicken" parmesan tofu sandwich, which he said was super delicious. If we had had more time, I would have also tried some of the cocktails, which also looked super yummy. I'll definitely be back! read more

On the outside it looks like any other store front.. lost in time. Inside its part store and part restaurant. Very clean. Warm and inviting. I don't understand the store part, but I dont guess I have to. A smiling older lady invited us in and showed us to a spot at the bar, as the restaurant is in the back of the building. The place is nicely decorated, and honestly would have been right at home in New York City. Fast friendly service, the servers checked on us often, and had information on the menu items. This goes a long way for me, so I can find the house made items that fit my appetite that day. Just wonderful. I got a shrimp appetizer, and the bacon burger. Both with a twist, so its not JUST shrimp, and a burger. The house made sauce on the shrimp was amazing. 5 shrimp for $10 is no deal.. but the taste was amazing, and left me wanting 5 more! So all was well. The burger was indeed excellent also. Great fresh taste. Nicely cooked bacon. Grilled bun. And grilled spinach? A new one on me, but it was great tasting. The worst restaurant experience I can remember. 6:15 on a Saturday night we were told a 45 minute wait, ok... killed time for an hour, called back, and it sounded like they forgot our reservation. We were seated 10 minutes later. Drinks were quickly served and childrens' (3 of them) food ordered. 45 minutes children's' food served and promised adult food was coming up. We waited over 90 minutes before cancelling our meals and ordering take out. What a disappointment. Get your shit together. read more

We chose this place because it had good reviews and we saw kids options....we put our names on a wait at 6 for 45 minutes (not unreasonable for a party of 7) from here on it went down hill. At 6:50 we had to call and ask about our wait and they seemed unsure of any of our details....we went inside, and placed our orders at 7, at 7:45 the kids food(pasta with butter) finally showed. Finally at 8:20 a manager came to explain they were short staffed and making everything from scratch and running out of things and unprepared. An hour and twenty minutes is crazy and honestly being understaffed and underprepared should never be a guests problem or allow you excuses. I get things happen but trying to make it our issue/problem isn't great. Our kids ate we paid for our drinks and kids food and left and won't be back. read more

I've only eaten here a couple of other times and those experiences were good. This is my first time here for Brunch. Everything was excellent. I wish I had taken a pic of my plate to post. Staff was friendly, atmosphere was light and pleasant. Food was very well prepared, plated, and served. I want to thank the owner. It's an extreme effort serving Brunch. We had a very personable waiter, bit that is best I can say, our order got given to another table so they had to retire, then my burger still took another 20 minutes to get for med rare, it came well done had to send that back also. Our waiter apologized multiple times while we watched management check in with multiple tables while avoiding us and leaving the waiter to hang out to dry. We ordered appetizers & drinks first and then about 6:45 put in our order for the meal then about 30 minutes later the waiter came back to double check our order. This took us aback as it seemed that our order was never put in in the first place. Our drinks took a while as well. Even getting the manager's attention took at least 30minutes. We are in town for a race and were not trying to be there to much past an hour. The food was great but the service was slow and unacceptable, and the manager did nothing to try to rectify the situation. She should've comped our drinks or offered a percentage off everyone's meal. She barely apologized. Experience is just as important as the food. Treat kinda hit the mark on food & drinks but service they did not. We will not return. read more

Ya'll! This place is absolutely precious! Very wonderful service, very beautiful view, and also the food is PHENOMENAL! I have been twice. First time I got the Alfredo and fell in love! A wonderful anniversary dinner at Treat. Our first time here and we were so impressed. Food was cooked to perfection. New York strip cooked rare with a slightly warm center just the way we wanted it. Seafood Puttanesca with olives and shrimp and tonight's market fish. Delicious. And the antipasto that started it all had delicious bread and meat choices with roasted tomatoes and cheese. Super cute on the inside. But pretty expensive for what you get. $26 for pork and it was dry and didn't hold much flavor. Broccoli Alfredo was something I could have made at home with more flavor. They ran out of fish and chips; told us about 10 minutes after we had ordered. Ordered a beer that was a misprint and they didn't ever carry that beer even though it was on their drink menu. There are two great things that are an absolute treat at Treat. The people and the food. The New York Strip is on par with any big city steakhouse and yes rivals even Ruth Chris. This place has a lovely atmosphere and their food was quite tasty. I had their fish sandwich and their daily soup, a vegetable bisque, as my side. My waitress was quite friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. However much of this was tainted from the experience in the beginning. When we arrived they asked if we had reservations and we did not. Which I can understand that those making reservations get put first, but the entire restaurant was empty. We were given the option to sit at the bar which I dislike because I'm short or outside where it's raining. We sat outside only getting a bit damp. By the time we left less than half the restaurant was filled with 7 or 8 tables still empty. I feel like if reservations are hours out we could have used the table and it been finished and clean before the other people ever arrived. EDIT: So I tried this place a second time and I'm still not impressed. I'm keeping my rating at 2 stars. When I walked up to the host stand the guy kind of looked at me like I didn't belong there? I had to ask if they were open and he said yes very awkwardly and didn't ask if I wanted a table or anything. I don't know if he was trying to be funny or what but it was just very awkward and unwelcoming. I also told him I wanted a table for 3 but I didn't think the other two were here yet, and he said they were already there. He lead me to a table with three people at it already. I had to say "a table for 3... including myself, and this isn't my party." So awkward. We ordered bread service as an appetizer which cost $4. I assumed this meant we could get more bread if we wanted since it said "service" but no, you had to pay more for more bread. Any similar restaurant would have free bread for the table (i.e. Wisteria down the street). At least give free additional bread if you order the service! One of the people in my party ordered a vegetarian meal and was served chicken, totally unacceptable. Worst of all it wasn't even taken off the bill. The service was faster this time and the waiter once again was decently friendly, but I just don't think this place understands how to handle it when things go wrong. None of our food was really very good. I could've made mine at home easily. I gave it a second chance and now I know this place is just not worth it. Try Root and Vine or Wisteria instead. --- I am not sure what the hype is with this place. I finally tried dinner here with a few friends and the food was okay at best and the service was quite bad. We ordered wine, and they were out of what we wanted, so they offered us something else which was way more expensive and not nearly as good. After being initially disappointed that they were out of two of their by the glass wines, you'd think they would be more apologetic and maybe offer something else at the same price, but no. We ordered appetizers that took forever to come out (about 30 minutes) with no apologies about the wait. One of them was just bread service and the other was the sliders. They tasted okay but were on those cheap buns you can buy in a bag at the grocery store, nothing fancy at all. I ordered pasta with shrimp and vegetables, and when it came out there were no vegetables. Apparently they were out of vegetables. How does that even happen? And why didn't they tell me so I could have the opportunity to order something else? I could've made the same pasta at home with a jar of ragu fettuccine sauce and some (chewy) shrimp. My boyfriend ordered a burger and it was quite small and really just an ordinary burger with ordinary fries. I honestly think I could've gotten a better dinner and service at Denny's down the road. Two stars instead of one just for the nice ambiance and that the food was at least edible, and I guess the waiter was at least nice (even though not very attentive at all). I'm not sure that I'll ever go back here though, there are far better options in town. read more
