This is our second visit within three months. Valentine night. Wonderful place and super meal. Only complaint was they changed for their bread offering from super rolls to a loaf type bread. This is not free but in the past I did not mind paying for their original bead to their new loaf. I would hope that they would change back to their original recipe The loaf was not warm in the middle. Will not order on future visits. The atmosphere is great. It is worth a trip to this restaurant. A party of 6: the entire party thought it was too cold in the dining area and entirely too "bright" thus spoiling the ambiance. Also, the vegetables (sides) were cold. So soft and the butter was very good! We also ordered the CRAB and PORTOBELLA MUSHROOM, and my husband loved it! Entrees: I ordered the GRILLED ANGUS FILET 6oz and my husband ordered the RACK OF LAMB, both come with garlic mashed potatoes and house vegetables (broccolini and carrots) and house salad (mix of lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and dressing). Our second visit to this wonderful establishment. With a menu that changes with the seasons, they will keep you guessing. And so far, nothing has been disappointing. We started with the calamari, which had an interesting texture, due to being tossed in masa prior to being fried. Awesome! Then we went for the filet mignon with potato puree and asparagus, and scallops with pork belly for our entree. I don't know what they do in the kitchen, but it's amazing. Unexpected flavors, but in a good way. We had settled in the profiteroles for our dessert, but unfortunately they had run out of the ice cream. So, we had to "settle" for the pot de crème. And yet again..... Flavors!!!!! Brittney took great care of us, making for a great experience. She decided to bring over the manager Cole, who gave us further insights into how they create the offerings they bring to the world. We have been going to Vintage House for many years and always enjoyed great service and superb cuisine. Everyone has a down day, but last nights dinner didn't measure up. Steak was well done and tough, another dish the meat was dry....my special had so much pepper in it, and the presentation was lacking. I don't know what happened but not sure when I will be back. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Hickory. I will admit we have only had their pasta entrees and appetizers but they are all fantastic. Their rolls are amazing and their drinks are always great. We have never had bad service either. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you are coming during a popular time or weekends. It's on the pricier side, but at least everything we have tried is very good. We do not leave disappointed. We will definitely be back. read more

Vintage House is beautiful. The restaurant is in an old house that has vintage wall paper and wood trim that complement a contemporary black and white decor in another room. Upstairs are rooms for private parties and for guest overflow. A private dining room is on the main floor. Our evening dinner was highlighted by our waiter, Cole. He was knowledgeable about the food, the specials, and his service was spot on with a professional flare. He served drinks, and opened and poured the wine perfectly after we did taste tests. Most dishes were wonderful. For starters the wilted spinach salad was warm and was highly recommended, so most of our party started with that or the butternut ravioli. The Shrimp Scampi was fantastic. The Escargot in a red wine demi was one of the best. For dinner our party had the trout special and the trout on the menu. They were similar, but the menu item included crabmeat, and both had different vegetables and garnishes. The NY Strip was cooked perfectly and the grits were good. The rack of lamb was not flavorful, but the veggies were good. The pastas were delicious and hardy. Vintage House is a very nice restaurant for any dress up occasion. read more

Great atmosphere. I opted to have two appetizers instead of an entree. It has been "forever" since I have been able to order escargot. The puff pastry was an interesting twist, as was the sauce. I am a sucker for good risotto. The lobster tail was cut into bite sized portions. The lobster stock made a great "sauce." It wasn't dry and it wasn't swimming in sauce. My wife was seduced by the rack of lamb. All were delicious. read more

Our server was kind, attentive and did a wonderful job. Our food orders were pleasantly presented and tasted amazing! The Bride and I went there Friday evening, 07/22/2022. The place is a converted older home (the early 1900s), and the interior decor is warm and inviting, with a modern twist in the bar area. We were promptly seated, waters were already filled, and our server came within moments. Our server, a lovely young woman named Rikki, was professional, cheerful, courteous, and highly personable. Drink orders were given, and she was back with them before one knew it. The drinks were generous and correct. She reviewed additions to the menu. I ordered the featured appetizer, roasted wild mushroom flatbread, and the rack of lamb. The bride went with the Charlotte Restaurant week Prix Fie menu and ordered a caesar salad, blackened pork tenderloin, and the crepe with berries. We also ordered a bottle of wine presented after the appetizer (which we requested) and before the entre. Rikki skillfully and correctly presented the bottle, then we asked her to skip the "formality" and just to pour. We knew the wine because we've been to this particular winery in Sanoma County, CA, and are fans. The Caser salad was spot on and traditional. No "twists" or trying to bring it "forward." Plain, simple, refreshing, and the dressing was above average. My flatbread was a solid 9 out of 10. The mushrooms were fresh, the plate fragrant, and generously portioned. I really enjoyed it. My Brides entree was not only plated attractively, but it also was delicious, and the description from the menu was 100%. The pork was cooked medium (as it should be) served with roasted heirloom carrots and, young green beans, and a potato mash. My lamb was slightly above medium - I had asked for it medium rare. The peppercorn demi was wonderful. It was also served with the same heirloom roasted carrot and green beans and potato mash. I ordered the blueberry cheesecake at Rikki's suggestion. I couldn't have been more pleased. It was not only attractive and the entire "cke" studded with blueberry pieces one could really taste them. The bride enjoyed her dessert too. Over all (I never give 10's because that implies perfection)_ this is a 9 of 10 experience. The total including tax was $195.00. 2 cocktails, a bottle of wine appetizer, entree and dessert. For the atmosphere, wonderful service, quality and quantity of food it was well worth it. We will be returning sooner than later. Well done Vintage House! read more

Friendly staff, friendly owners. My wife and I love Vintage House. I can't keep myself from ordering the Tornados, which is a shame, because of the unbelievable menu they offer, but I'm a creature of habit. My wife has planned several "Girls Nights " at Vintage House, and everyone agreed that the food and atmosphere was perfect. On a busy night (which is most nights), with all the diners spread throughout this old, cozy home, I'm reminded of Thanksgiving dinners at my grandparents home. I love it! Went here for our anniversary and had to post a review. We really enjoyed this restaurant. Beautiful setting in an old renovated house. Little rooms so was a warm setting. I ordered the salmon and shrimp. I have to say this was so good I dreamt about it all night. Fantastic!! My husband got the chicken and thought it was good. The only disappointing thing was the dessert. We both thought it was nothing special. The puff pastry were hard and not freshly baked. We agreed we wouldn't get that again. Last weekend I would have easily given 5 stars. This weekend we are so disappointed in the service we received. The food was wonderful, but the service was lacking. We ordered cocktails, I received mine 10 minutes before my husband. It took over an hour for us to receive our salads and an hour and a half before we got our entrees. It's just really sad, we thought we had found our new go to restaurant. The only reason for 2 stars is, because in the end the food was still good. read more

Six college friends gathered here for dinner before Christmas, and were treated to a delicious dinner with a very delightful server to care for us. The cocktails were well made, and the dinner (of fish in my case) was perfectly prepared. We didn't feel at all rushed in spite of this being a Saturday night prior to Christmas; I had made reservations a few weeks in advance. I will recommend highly, and will return. The highlights were the filet, melt in your mouth good, and the cheesecake... true NY style. I do wish they had more adventurous sides, but the vegetables and mash potatoes were good. Love love love this place. First timers to the Vintage House and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We both had the trout special which was the nest trout I've ever eaten. We are originally from the Philadelphia area where fine dining is on every corner but the quality and preparation of the food at the Vintage House exceeded anything we've had in Philly. Excellent wine selection and Matt helped us choose a wine that went well with out dinner. Love the staff and if you have room for dessert, try the profiteroles but make sure you have one or two people to help eat it. You'll need reservations on the weekend.
