I can't give Treats five stars as the prices are generally pretty high and their produce section is small and not always the freshest in the world, but they do have some really good sales! With the price of gas, if you only need a few items its nice to not have to make the 15-minute drive to Angels Camp or Valley Springs. I have never, ever been treated rudely, as another reviewer mentioned. All the checkers in both the hardware section and the grocery store upstairs have always been friendly and very helpful. One time I was there for just a few 10 cent screws. They were an odd size and the checker person just took my sample screw and looked through their very organized drawers of screws and found them for me. The store is always very neat and organized. If they don't have what I need, they apologize... as they are a very small store. I think in order to survive they also have to stock things that out-of-owners might need in a pinch. It's just a fun place to shop. I don't have to wait in the check out line (occasionally there is one person ahead of me) and I can park right next to the store. The best thing ever is that I don't have to walk a quarter mile to the back of the store to pick up a gallon of milk! All the locals appreciate Treats and all the other local shopping places here in San Andreas. They all represent the slow paced, friendly little town that I fell in love with 9 years ago. Where else can you find no stop lights, not much traffic, friendly faces (even at the Post Office and sometimes at the DMV) and most everything you need less than mile away from home? There are four other towns within a 10-20 mile country drive away if you need a Wal-mart, Lowes, Staples, Grocery Outlet, a Theater, etc., or just want a fun place to spend an afternoon with a friend as they all have great places to eat and interesting shops to visit. read more

Service. Selection. Value.? They're all TERRIBLE at this 7-11 of grocery stores. I've found nothing but over priced items, in which the majority of them have expired. The workers are NOT PROPERLY TRAINED in QUALITY Customer Service, but that's because the Manager doesn't have good CS skills either. He overcharged me on the CRV on my LA CROIX water that I've been buying there over 2 years. They charged me $1.20 & he kept saying it was a per can price. And that's why it was that much. In this state, CRV is 5¢ a can, therefore my 8 pk CRV should have been charged 40¢! The Manager was incorrect & instead he wanted to argue with me over the $1.60 they owed me. REALLY? This is a "dive" grocery store that uses "Family Owned" as an excuse for their high prices & old products. How's a Manager supposed to quality train the employees, if he doesn't even know state CRV laws? He was actually asking the checker questions on if it was right. Stop, who's training who? I will NEVER shop there again, not only because of high prices & past due products, but because of the way I (the customer) was treated for less then $2! Rude, Wrong & Ridiculous! Wonderful, historic country store offering as fine a meat selection and fresh produce as you'll find anywhere! Butchers John, Lane, Darren, and retired Don (who retired at 83!! is now tending his cattle herds.) bend over backwards to please. Being an aged woman, I am 70 and a Navy widow, it's great to be treated to my groceries being taken to my car each time so I can save my LOL energy for unloading it at home! :) I must also add that the hardware store downstairs is brilliant! The young man down there is absolutely terrific to deal with, a true gentleman, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend, this store and it's fine staff. read more

First off, the staff is very kind and courtesy. Beyond that this store is rough. Except to bottom out in your car as you enter the parking lot. The shopping carts/baskets look like they haven't been replaced/washed since 1852. Check expirations carefully as twice in the last month I almost purchased expired food. The store itself is very old and run down. This is the only market in town but if you're looking for a wide variety and decent produce, you are better off going to neighboring towns. read more

I was looking for coconut water for my sick grandson. I had called and asked if they carried it and they said yes, so I stopped in. I looked for it myself, and could not locate it so I asked a gentleman who was stocking the shelves who was very nice to me. He couldn't find it either and another gentleman intervened and said it's right back there in the cold box. He also said, I'm the one you spoke to when you called. He said it very grumpy and very rude. I said OK I didn't know that. He turned around and walked off. I said, thank you. Have a nice day. This is an older gentleman, so it can't be blamed on a new generation! I just don't get it. Does the customer have no value any longer? I put the coconut water back, and I will find somewhere else to get it. Hopefully a place that welcomes me and appreciates my money. read more

Three times I've shopped here and two out of the three I've been treated very rudely. I'm accustomed to the checker looking at me and saying Something, but several times not one word was said to me, not even that will be $5.38! Their prices are high on many items (compared to Senders and in Jackson) bad meat and spoiled vegetables have kept me away from here. I guess the economically disadvantaged people that don't have reliable transportation keep it open, since none of the locals I know shop there. As far as the hardware goes, I rarely find what I need there, so I just go to Calaveras Lumber in Angels Camp. If you're painting and like TrueValue Paint, they probably can help you with that. Their inventory lacks some very common items though, so don't expect to find what you want here. read more

I appreciate the store for quick trips. I wish the meat department would use gloves when handling the meat.

Overpriced and rude cashiers you pay 2 to 3 xs the price than Walmart also rotten produce and meats seem to be there all the time

I only came in here to get some drinks and chips to go with my families lunch so I can't say much about their products. But my reason for my review is how frustrating it was to hear the cashier lady and a bigger talk crap about another employee and how they needed to keep "a close eye on him" and how "irresponsible he was with his schedule" and showing up for work. Granted this employee might be all these things or might not. But what does it say about you two gossiping and going on about this person in front of a customer? Shame on you, very unprofessional. read more

I wish some decent supermarket would move to San Andrea. This Treat store is so old , has poor lighting, old shelving and display cases, old coolers, and everything looks dirty. Vegetable dept. is minimal and way overpriced. The worse is their meat dept. You wonder how long the meat has been in the display case. Treats has the monopole in San Andrea, they are the only grocery store. I think it's a disgrace to the people of San Andrea, Capital of Calaveras county ! I end up shopping in Jackson, like most people around here. read more

On a recent trip, 1-9-14, through San Andreas CA I stopped at a place called Treats.. I went in to get something to drink. I walked in the store and went to where the drinks are located in the back. I got my drink and was on my way to the front. I stopped to look at something past the Butcher counter.. I could not believe what I watched next from the corner of my eye.. There where 2 Butchers 1 older and 1 younger.. The older butcher was leaning against the counter as the younger one was "Cleaning Out His Ears" with Q-tips in the butcher department around the meat.. To top it all off he helped a customer Without washing his hands...I dont even think the customer knew this or hopefully would have not got anything from this store, I shouldn't say store rather than the Meat Department... SO glad I do not shop for meat at a place like this..Glad I was getting something to drink that was closed.....Treats, Metreats Not.. read more
