Made a visit to Tree Licious over this past weekend. We were looking for pumpkins and mums and excited about baked goods. Well we left disappointed, no pumpkins ( we're told that pumpkin season starts in October), only a handful of mums sitting outside, handful of baked pies, couple of crates of apples and peaches and a crate of tomatoes that were not even grown in their farm. All fruits pick your own at $2/lb. This farm is over 125 acres. Tons of different types of apples. They also have peaches, plums, pears, corn, blueberries, cherries. Cherries are not pick your own. My only complaint is that most of the paths are overgrown and could use a mowing. read more

I believe them to be amazing. They also sell some nice plums and peaches when they are in season, along with tons of apples--and local varietals, some I'd never head of before. Now at the Grand Army Plaza, in Brooklyn, NY, they unload their goods on and off a huge semi truck, and sometimes, if you get there early or late, you may ask for a jar of apple butter or a cinnamon roll (c/o "Just-Made Bakery"), and they may tell you "we don't have any", which really means "they haven't come off the truck yet" or "I don't want to go back in the truck and get them", so if you are persistant, you can eventually get some. Give them a sob story or offer them a bribe--do whatever you can to (legally) get some of that stuff, it's worth it. The elderly-looking gentleman in the overalls is the guy in charge, and he is a very nice guy, who can wax apples (pun intended) with the best of them. read more

We tried to get to our traditional apple picking spot the other day, but we were sadly running behind schedule. Since our spot was closing at the early hour of 4:30, we need to find another option that was open later. We found Tree Licious Orchards, which was open until 6 pm, on Yelp and decided to give the 4-star reviewed place a shot. We drove down several windy roads and found ourselves in the middle of a gorgeous farm...A gorgeous and EMPTY farm. Sure, we arrived about 45 minutes before they were closing, but we were really surprised to find ourselves to be the only pickers on the property. We were greeted by 2 sweet older women who pointed us in the direction of the apple trees and gave us a box to hold our bounty. The trees were not labeled by variety, so we basically just guessed about our selections. This was a bit frustrating, but the rustic, less commercial farm was simply beautiful and being the sole wanderers around the orchard was rather relaxing. We brought our goods to the front barn to be weighed and chatted some more with the women who had greeted us. They told us about a lovely dinner they were holding on the property the following weekend, which sounded adorable as well. Tree Licious Orchards was a nice choice for late day picking away from the crowds. read more

This is apple picking as it should be! Many, many acres of trees heavily laden with delicious apples. You know this because they encourage you to taste as many as you like, unlike some orchards that discourage or even ban this. The location was easy to find, and there is ample parking. The family that owns the farm is there running the orchard. We had inquired about some specific apples, and their daughter walked us all the way up and over the hill to find the exact trees we wanted, and then pointed out a few things and let us be. There were no crowds, and though we did occasionally see another group of people in the distance, it was like we had the mountain to ourselves. Peaceful and beautiful. I spoke with them a lot when we came back down, and they have strawberry and peach picking, and they are getting ready to start raspberry picking as well. The apple cider donuts were the best I've had in years. We felt very welcome, and felt like they were genuinely glad we were there. It was a bit of my childhood come back to life. Nice people working here and very large acreage of land for picking with a wide variety of produce. As reviewer noted below almost everything is $2 per lb, with exceptions for blueberries and apricots, which were more per lb......BUT There are NO signs whatsoever to designate WHAT fruit or WHAT variety you might be picking. This makes it not so public friendly for picking. After the young woman roughly pointed to some locations for certain fruits up the hill, we were left on our own to figure out exactly where the yellow peaches were and different varieties of plums. Also, unless you are knowledgeable of your produce, you'll have no clue what variety you are picking in some instances and no one is out there to assist. We also were not told that maybe certain fruits should not be picked as they are not ripe - because after picking a couple of apples and some donut peaches - they never properly ripened and had to be discarded. To give credence to my comments about signage, the young woman told us of 2 other families that just left without picking or buying anything because one group couldn't find the White Peaches and the other couldn't find any peaches. So, wouldn't that kind of tell you to MAKE SOME SIGNS?? Pretty simple and inexpensive and would go a LONG way to making this experience less frustrating for customers. The grass is overgrown (as other reviewer noted) so it does make it difficult to trek though this terrain. It really just needs a little more attention and SIGNAGE! read more

This review is for the orchard itself; I've never been to any of their farmer's markets. The orchard is incredibly beautiful and they have a HUGE variety of pick your own fruit, including a lot of heritage varieties. Be warned that the orchard is hilly- but seriously, so beautiful. I'd love it if they had some sort of map of what's in season, because the orchard is so large. As a side note I've been to their bakery, which is off site (it's maybe 10 minutes away). They do have vegan pies- the crusts are made with shortening rather than butter. You wouldn't actually know they were vegan. The pies are ok (not really worth the price unless you're really excited about vegan pies) but their apple cider donuts are amazing. Overall the prices at the orchard are great and it's worth a visit. You could easily spend a couple of hours here. read more
