We were initially very impressed by Rolf. He seemed experienced, straightforward and to be a true lover of trees. His workers are skilled do good work. However Rolf did not communicate with them about what was to be done. We have trees that need to be dwarfed because they are too big for the space they are planted in. They did not do that. I called Rolf and asked him to come back. He said he would take care of the dwarfing next year ( although we still paid him thousands for this year.) We also said we did not want fertilizer sprayed on our lawn since we have a dog who rolls around there. He said he would just inject it into the roots of the trees. Again there must have been miscommunication. Someone came with a big tank of fertilizer and started to spay the lawn. We sent him away. read more

After unhappily working with two landscape companies, we started working with Tree Specialists and have been thrilled with their services and professionalism. Everyone at Tree Specialists with whom we have communicated and worked is professional, pleasant, polite and above all, expert at landscaping and highly knowledge about trees and plantings. Tree Specialists just did a major pruning and bracing of our backyard birches. The team of four did a phenomenal job, cleaned up the yard as though they hadn't even been on site, and answered all of our questions. We were thrilled with the result. 'The Boss' - Rolf Briggs - was helpful, professional and responsible. The proposal was reasonable, and they stuck to their estimate, even 'tho the crew did a little more. We called Rolf simply to cut up and remove a tree that fell in our back yard and what we got was a WHOLE LOT MORE. Not only did he try to UPSELL us on everything in our yard, but he never completed the work that he was hired to do. We just wanted the tree to be cut up and thrown into the woods so we could get our yard back, they cut it up and left in on the border of our yard, swallowing up more space! It took forever to schedule the appointment and then they changed the work date less than 24 hours before so I was not be available to be there. When I asked him to complete the work he bored me with the "arborist" vs. tree service/landscaper. He "claimed" that it was done to his "specs" which is all that matters to him. He actually went as far as saying that he did not want his trucks on my property with bad looking trees in my front yard because that would reflect poorly on him and his business. (You can't make that stuff up!) He was upset that I didn't accept all of the other work that he tried to upsell! Now I have to pay someone else to clean up their mess even though I had to pay him a portion of the balance (not the full amount). Rolf is insulting, condescending and definitely not a person you want to do business with unless you like being take for a ride or constantly reminded that he's an "arborist" and you're not! - And just to add to your comment Rolf, IF the work was "indeed" performed to "Spec", then the judge would have ordered me to pay the outstanding balance of $493.50. Recently had tree work done on seven trees on our property. Pruning, thinning and cabling of two mature oak trees, pruning of two dogwoods and fertilization of three trees to support winter growth and disease control. The crew (4 men) showed up on time and as scheduled. completed the tree work as specified in the contract and cleaned up after themselves. Came back a week or so later to complete a small project that could not be done due to snow and ice. Very satisfied with Rolf's knowledge and the work that was done. Quoted price was higher than another competing firm, otherwise I would have given five stars. read more

I find their advice reliable and they don't over-service. They have brought several valuable trees back to health from various blights and diseases, and they explain why they recommend something. We were initially sold on their high level of expertise on trees. We were lead to believe this was a company we could really trust and partner with long term. Unfortunately we were quickly turned off after we felt we were purposely mislead by what tree work they actually performed compared to what we paid for. My husband expressed his concerns and dissatisfaction with the owner who simply would not listen and stated that his actions were all for the health of the trees. He did not give us any indication prior to the work starting that he would not be able to do certain pruning and trimming due to tree health. This was only brought up after the fact. With that said, his pricing for his minimalistic approach is completely out of line for actual work performed. What bothers me the most is that my husband will have to now complete the work we thought we had paid for which is totally ridiculous and upsetting. Recently I had this company do some tree spraying and cleanup. They did not call me to let me know when they were going to do the work; they just showed up one day. Even though I told them it was not convenient to have them on my property they told me that my small job was a problem for them to schedule so it would have to be that day. When I called their office about this I was told that they have 150 customers so they can't possibly call them all in advance. They were happy enough to take my deposit for the work well in advance, however, they still have not managed to send me a bill that reflects the deposit I already paid them. I'm sure they did a fine job with the work but personality, customer service and billing correctly are not their strong suits. read more

This company called me almost every month (very annoying) last year wanted to trim my trees. I eventually tried them, then it is nightmare. They were not much following the contract. What they said and what they did can not be aligned. But, one thing they wont miss is to charge you more than what they quote. They are expensive but honestly their job does not worth. You could not see difference before and after their trim which cost you several hundred per tree. My neighbor saw their work when he was at home. They come and trim very little and then leave and then send you bill. They immediately change their face after they get your check (no service guarantee or warranty)!
