I have been a customer of Gerrior Masonry and Landscape for about 8 years. They have always been professional and reasonably priced. Our first experience was for them to fix a retaining wall and paver walkway botched by 2 other landscapers. They did an fantastic job matching the current pavers and stonework used. Most importantly, the area was finally functional and beautiful. This year we took on a large renovation project. Our outside work included a large stone wall (jointless with connecticut fieldstone hand cut), a main walkway to the home, replanting garden beds, window well retaining wall made of cobbles and granite, granite mailbox post, plus fixing our sprinkler system. The whole team was top notch in their professional skills, communication was timely and often with the owner of the company as Joe is heavily involved in every project. We have had numerous challenging experiences with contractors during this renovation project, but Gerrior Masonry was incredible every step of the way. I will never let another company do work outside our home except his team! Thank you to your amazing crew for all that you did to help our family. We hired Gerrior Masonry for a complete yard renovation, over $100,000 for the full project including new lawn installation. Within weeks of completion, the lawn was failing across the entire yard. Large dead and bare patches everywhere, as shown in the photos. The lawn is watered by a professionally installed irrigation system that runs on schedule and works perfectly, so this is not a watering issue. This is a problem with the installation itself. When we asked Gerrior to correct their work, they refused to do it under warranty and said they would only fix it if we paid again for time and materials. We paid six figures for a lawn that died in weeks, and the company will not stand behind its own work. As of today, nothing has been repaired. After vetting several companies, we chose Gerrier because their quoting process was seamless--and we moved forward with them despite them being the most expensive bid. Unfortunately, the execution was the polar opposite of the price tag. The project suffered from a total lack of onsite supervision, with the crew frequently admitting they were unsure of how to proceed. While the final result is visually appealing, the journey was marred by poor management and a disappointing lack of respect for us as clients. For a premium price, we expected a premium experience; we didn't get it. read more

Needed an old, broken-down bulkhead (that was barely even attached to the asphalt, mostly just sitting on the ground) replaced. The retaining wall on both sides was also starting to fail, as were some top steps. Of the places I contacted, Gerrior Masonry was the only one that responded. So, caveat here: I don't know if this was an especially busy season or if they're generally this busy. (I'm sure weather played a part, it was unusually rainy for several weeks.) But getting scheduled took several months, and most of that time I wasn't sure how long the wait would be - I was given a date about a week before the work actually got done. That said: I'm very happy with the end result. The person who came out for an estimate gave me a good rundown of what work was needed and why. Once it did get scheduled, work was done very efficiently, it looks great, and they stuck to the price they gave me, even though they needed to install an extra layer of blocks to raise the new bulkhead to the correct height. If you're flexible about scheduling, and you're looking for very clean masonry, definitely recommend their work. read more

I had a terrible experience with Gerrior, the owner said he would be onsite every day to lay out the work with his employees, he showed up once, it was on the last day of work to collect the final check! There were many issues along the way and still are. 1-patio levels raised to within 1" of siding height 2- trip hazards at the top of stairs 3-patios sloping toward the foundation causing water infiltration issues 4-drainage installed a couple inches below grade in the center of new mulch beds running parallel to the house right where the plantings should go 5-The PVC drainage piping was not glued and broke apart in multiple areas 6-walls leaning after just a couple years 7-stairs settling and loose caps read more

I'm an over 75 year old woman and had my patio done less than a year ago and Joe or the worker or whoever said there would be no more weeds coming through. Well that was less than a year ago and my patio is covered in weeds. Here was the email reply I received "Joe said to use some round up, power wash it and add polysand.  We are not doing that type of work this summer, just to let you know so we wouldn't be able to do it." The funny thing is that's exactly what THEY did last time and that obviously didn't work. Don't tell me "there won't be anymore weeds" and then less than a year later my patio is covered in them and then tell me to do it myself you shouldn't be in business if you can't get it right the first time or at least have the courtesy to fix your mistakes when you or your workers make false claims. read more

Gerrior Masonry installed my new brick and granite front steps as well as a concrete walkway and patio. They also did some repairs on existing walkway and step treads. Rich came out and gave me his recommendations and an estimate for what I was looking for. The crew was professional and efficient. They consulted me anytime they had a question so that things would be exactly as I wanted them. The weather did not cooperate during the week of install, but they still managed to get everything done in a timely manner. Gerrior far exceeded my expectations, and those of my family. We hired Gerrior Masonry to replace our front stairs and do our walkway. They came highly recommended. We had no idea what we really wanted. The owner came to our house to give us an estimate and he was really knowledgeable in his field. He made us immediately feel at ease, there was no pressure, he was really patient, showing us some of the options we had for design and what would be suitable for our house. This was great because we had other estimates and the people were pushy and did not explain as much as the owner of Gerrior Masonry did. Do yourself a favor and run fast away from any thought of hiring this company. The owner is less than professional when it comes to courtesy and communication. I had several estimates for doing some landscaping and masonry work at my home. Gerrior was not the cheapest estimate but I felt masons doing my masonry work was a better choice than landscapers doing my masonry work. Boy was I wrong. First off they built my patio in the wrong location and not at all to design specifications. I had clearly outlined with white paint the area where the patio was to be located. Why bother coming out to survey and estimate the job if you can not relay the correct design and location to the workers who come out to do the work? When I called to inform the company that the rough out for the patio was in the wrong location, they said "Joe" would be in touch with me. When Joe called he was very rude, saying the dimensions were correct. Nowhere in the conversation was there an apology or an acknowledgement that a mistake had been made. I told him I do not care about dimensions when the patio is being built in the middle of my yard and not next to the house as was discussed and planned. Next day the 2 workers corrected the location mistake but proceeded to build a walkway that was 1 and 1/2 pavers wide. It looked more like a border than a walkway and did not follow accepted practices of having the walkway a minimum of 3 feet wide(preferably 4 feet wide). They also made the walkway at a 90 degree angle (which was corrected) instead of the designed rounded entry. There were several other design and specification errors. Rather than knocking on my door and communicating with me, it seems Joe and his team design as they see fit (to save on time and material). I could go on but you get the picture. This spring I will have to hire a competent mason to correct the errors and complete the patio and walkway as was originally designed. Do not hire Gerrior, save yourself money and headaches. read more

I hired Gerrior Masonry several years ago to rebuild my front stairs with brick and limestone along with some other projects. Even though they were the highest of the 3 estimates I received, I hired them because I wanted the best service and quality available. That was my first mistake. The work was done in the fall and after the first winter all three stair tops on the front stairs had become loose. Without even asking me any questions, the owner accused me of using salt or another forbidden product on the stairs against the written instructions they provided me. He was not even a little bit apologetic to find out that I never received any care or maintenance instructions for the work that had been done. He was also unimpressed that I told him I knew enough to not use salt or salt based deicer products. I called Gerrior Masonry for an entire year. I was told the owner would come out to check on the stairs, he never showed. I was told that the owner would call me back, he never called. Finally I hired another contractor and paid them to repair the stairs. The new contractor had me take pictures of what was under the stairs when he lifted the limestone - 100% of the cement used to attach the limestone tops had turned to powder. The new contractor said the only way that could have happened was with improperly mixed cement. My second mistake was not taking those pictures and filing a report with the BBB. Do not use Gerrior Masonry. Spend your money on a more reasonably priced company who will have better customer service. read more

I hired Gerrior Masonry & Landscape of Woburn this past Spring (2015) to rebuild my crumbling front steps and walkway. They were quick to respond to my initial call for an estimate. They showed up every day and did amazing work. I made a few design changes along the way and they were very accommodating. I also had them do landscaping work for me once the masonry was complete. Joe was very helpful in explaining which shrubs would work best for my property. He explained how I should care for my masonry and landscaping. He also came back out right away when a heavy rain storm had wash away some mortar from my cobble stones that had been installed days before.
