Tree house is a lot of fun. The sugar shine is pretty good, service is always very friendly, and prompt. The crowd varies from night to night but its never boring, and we have met some interesting people. Every time I go there everyone seems really happy. Occasionally they will have a band. As previous reviewers noted the decor is eclectic...there are all the games from your childhood on the tables...connect 4 , chess, rockem sockem robots, pickup sticks etc. and there are made up drinking board games on some of the tables....the cooler for the sugar shine is a big clawfoot bathtub. At times it seems as though its the cantina from the first Starwars movie... The only food I have ever tried was a bite of someone else's grilled cheese...so I cant really review the food. Randomly met the owner and was told about their Groupon. I'm a risk taker and the deal was pretty good so I decided to check it out. The positive from my experience -The burger was amazing and so was the spinach cheese dip -The atmosphere was fun and energetic -Really gives the feel of an old school tree house with games and sidewalk chalk Now the negative -It took 80 minutes to get my burger -The shine is actually infused/flavored vodka -They allow smoking because they "offer" hookah, but don't have it -The bartender served drinks with a cigarette in hand -Most games were missing pieces and unplayable -Service was inexperienced, extremely slow, and unorganized, but very polite. -Orders are taken on sticky pads and paper. No POS system to keep customer orders correct -The final bill was JACKED up. -Total time spent for dinner in this place just shy of 2 hrs 30 min. This has to be the best bar I have ever been too. The owners are sisters and they are the most relaxed funny women I have ever met. They specialize in Moonshines and they are homemade recipes. I tried the cotton candy moonshine which was soooo good. It's sweet and has a slight bite but it's delicious. The moonshine I went with was the chocolate covered Strawberry moonshine. It tasted like strawberry preserves and Hershey's syrup. You taste no alcohol and it was a blood red moonshine. I'm still shocked at the strong taste of chocolate and it was bright red color. The bar has a laid back feel, tables have drinking games on the tables. It has chalkboard walls to write on with chalk supplied. The bathrooms are also a fun sight to see. It's good when Ashley's at the bar, otherwise service isn't so good. Disappointed in that. It's smoky in here, but it doesn't bother me unless I'm trying to eat. All around, this childish game place can be fun (though small) and I like the infused vodkas. I don't think they are all that strong, but that's just my opinion. read more

ok, heres the update. I still like the bar, but the prices have gone up. Went there a week ago, the bartender, who was less than nice, told me a 16 oz. PBR was 3.50. Are you kidding me? I can get a 32 oz Yuengling at That Place bar 3 blocks away for the same price. I used to love this place, but things have apparently changed. Same ambience ( minus the cranky bar wench), {not the owner, who is cool, but whom I haven't talked to in about a year}, but the prices are not right.I am moving it down a star, I no longer think it is what it was trying to be when it opened.Sadly, now it is just another business.......will keep you posted, haven't given up on this place, things ebb and flow.....definitely ebbing at this time. read more

The menu is a little narrow but the staff is great and the drinks are just as good if you're not a smoker you might not like it there but the live music is good and the people there are just as entertaining my girl and I love the tree house are recommend it read more

The worst bar/restaurant I have EVER been to. VERY SMOKEY! They were out of almost everything on the menu, food was cold, way overpriced for what little cold food you got, and it took them forever to get it to you. I had to ask for our bill 3 times and over 30 minutes later finally got it. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Definitely a bar as listed on the sign. It's really cool! Their decor is very sporadic, which is interesting to look at while escaping at a bar. I had one of their beers off tap, which was excellent. Their glassware is all a collection of random pieces. That gives it an even more "home" type feeling. There are chalk drawings all over and the place definitely feels like somewhere you can go to let go of things after a long day and they like when you "come to play at the treehouse". read more

I had never been to Treehouse Shine Bar before and decided to check it out after some co-workers told me how great of a place it was. I went there for the first time last night with a few people and if it was the last bar to exist in the city of Mishawaka, I will never set foot in there again. My friends and I waited for someone to greet us for over an hour. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and I understand how it works. I also understand how it feels to be busy on a Friday night, but that is no excuse to disregard a table. Tables were clearing out left and right, a waitress was attending tables all around my friends and I but never came over to us. All four of us ended up walking out after an hour and if I could give this place -10 stars as a review, I would. Great job on successfully leaving all four of us with the shittiest first impression ever. read more

Stay away from this place. I don't eat out much and have pretty low dining standards, but this was the worst dining experience I've ever had in the U.S. Almost epically bad had our server not been apologetic and polite. Makes me question the utility of the review process seeing all the positive reviews here. Had I not already been $50 in with a GroupOn, I would have turned around simply by looking at the outside of the place. It didn't improve inside: *Racist music on jukebox repeatedly played, would've felt even more mortified had I brought a friend of color as guest. *Unprofessional, hand-scrawled signs on door ("No a--holes"), bathroom, and kitchen (something like "If your food isn't ready ask your server don't talk to us") *No one answering door at 5:30 pm on a Sat. *Didn't get food or even appetizers for an hour for a very basic order. Had to get up and ask my server for anything at all to eat. *Chips thoroughly burnt to crisp, served cold, unbelievably salty. I used to serve and never would have set that before a paying guest. *Actual meat and bun of burger was good, mostly because I was famished by 7 pm. The mushrooms were cold. *I figured $50 would get us beers, but the GroupOn included only 7 tiny super sweet shots with barely discernable quantities of alcohol (you could've fooled me into thinking they were non-alcoholic even after 5 of them). *Environment dirty and dingy, chairs wobbly. *Don't go here if you're a non-smoker. *Bar-tender was smoking while serving. *I will say that server was apologetic, and may have been short-staffed, but did not go out of her way to offer anything to eat while waiting 45-60 min for appetizers, or any drink to compensate. If literally all you want to do is drink and smoke and play Connect 4, this might be your place. If your party doesn't have any racial diversity. I honestly don't mind a place rough around the edges if there are things to compensate (service, food, price, atmosphere, etc)... I'm thinking of a place like the Heorot in Muncie. Heard great reviews about the drinks here, and they were great! However, the service was not great... The bartender took our drink orders but NEVER came back to see how we were doing, if we needed refills, if we wanted to put in a food order, etc. We waited 20 minutes before the other bartender pulled away from her phone and asked what we needed. We put an order in just for a basket of fries and it took HALF AN HOUR before they gave us this basket of what tasted like old, moldy, bottom of the frozen bag potatoes. It's definitely your typical dive bar. If you're going to order drinks, order two at a time because you'll be waiting forever. Don't order the food. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Used to be my favorite bar months ago! I recommended it to everyone I talked to, always had great service and food. I now have gotten stuck with not one but two groupons. We went there for food only to be told that they no longer serve food because they don't have a cook, so we went somewhere else for dinner. After we ate somewhere else we realized we had another Groupon for moonshine flights which were my favorite, so we decided to go back. Keep in mind the Groupon expired tonight. We walked in and it took 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us, and then she told us oh now the kitchen was open. We explained since 20 minutes ago she told us it would be closed until further notice we ate somewhere else, and would just be doing the moonshine flights. She then listed all of three flavors they had which was beyond disappointing seeing that in the past, there would be at least 8-10. This has been my most recent of several horrible experiences in the last few months. I will gladly eat the money I spent on their groupons, if they continue to run business this way they will certainly not be open much longer, which is a shame they had a good thing going for awhile. read more
