Was staying nearby and I was kinda hungry and it was pretty late and just asked the receptionist what good food was open at hour. She told me about this place. Will say this def gave a young fun vibe in the inside. They were definitely playing some bangers!! If I'm honest I was blind so I couldn't see much but the vibes were amazing!! If I was able to see I would probably def enjoy the ambience more. Honestly I came for the food and not the bar itself lolz. Double cheeseburger 8/10 idk how you can mess up a cheeseburger but it tasted like a cheeseburger. The people were pretty nice and very helpful. Kinda sad that they had to still ID me for just food but hey it's bar so it's understandable lolz. If it was just food I would gladly east outside to not get ID'd lolz. The garlic wings in particular are easily arguably the best in the city. The service is great with very attentive bartenders that genuinely enjoy their craft. It's absolutely a great place for a laid back time. read more

I suppose if you're looking for a dive bar, you're in luck. We went with the intention of eating here and very quickly called an audible. All of the tables were covered in dirty dishes, the place was filthy and there were no servers to be found. We waited 25 minutes at the bar for a bucket of beers, quickly drank those and got the hell out of there. If I could have, I would have avoided this stop altogether. Just gross. read more

When I got back the cook is smoking a heater at the bar top with karaoke man, and the bartender was the one doing the refire? Super confused. Honestly I'm mad I didn't read the menu and just ordered what my fiancée asked for, idk where in world that caprese would be acceptable. Spinach for real spinach. Which at the end of the day is funny because they were out of spinach so they subbed F'ing romain. I've been coming to Cheers for nearly two years now and the quality has gone so far downhill. All of our favorite DJs and security people have left because of shitty ownership and management. The new security is just a bunch of overpaid rent a cops who think they're tough. One girl got the cops called on her for dancing on a beam in the building and tonight a friend of a friend got kicked out immediately for going into the women's bathroom with his friends (he's gay - not trying to do anything inappropriate). Overall me and my friends are sick of our friends not being able to be here with us because they care more about money than about quality services. read more

Stop in for a bite to eat at 6:00. Quiet atmosphere. Stopped at the door by security. She asked basic questions if we were carrying any weapons and checked our ID. We were both in our 50's and it was late July. I'm sure during Fall when Notre Dame is back with students, that that would be important - not now. I guess if I was carrying a weapon, I'd probably would have told her I wasn't. Apparently it was comedy night that started at 8:00 and we were approached by the same security guard who told us to keep it down during the show - rather rudely. Not sure how much you want to offend paying customers as there were only 15 - 20 patrons in the business. Good luck staying in business when you treat paying customers rudely. read more

Then the new owner has done what she said she was. The staff is warm and inviting always a smile and truly making it fun. And better yet safe. A very cool roadside tavern in hockey talk take bar. This place has a great back yard outdoor patio vibe and a good over all look inside of a dive bar with a good staged for live music. Stopped in Cheers on Wednesday night after Yelp event (Bar Spelling Bee) at a close by location. Got there around 11:00pm, and it was open mic night. Was nice to hear live music and singers were pretty good. We had a group of six, and enjoyed our time here. Had been a long time, over 5 years since I have been to cheers, but not much different. Bartender was friendly, but drinks were a little pricy for this type of bar. They did have a pool table which the guys did play a couple games, and we did enjoy dancing. Bathroom was small, but clean. Would like to go back when kitchen is open and try the food. Not a lot of parking, but it wasn't real busy. They also had a black board with upcoming events, and they have Karaoke on Thursdays, so we will probably be checking that out soon. read more

This is my first time visiting the south bend area. I was staying at the Inn at St. Mary's. Yelp found this place nearby. I read some of the reviews but I still wasn't expecting what I walked into. The place was a lot smaller than I thought it would be and very quiet. When I walked through the door everyone was staring at me. Then the lady at the bar was a little curt, but after I was there for a while she was more nice. He menu was extensive for the size of the place and they had a ton of specials. I got the Cajun pork rinds and they were kind of weird. Not sure if it was just the fact they were pork rinds or what. The brisket sandwich special was good but needed more BBQ and was a little dry. Otherwise the beer selection was decent and since a reviewer said the pizza there was good, I would consider going back to try the pizza if I was going to be in town a little longer. read more

Love the staff, love the atmosphere. Fun, happy-go-lucky, and polite. Every person I met in here worked their buns off- it was awesome. They even put my SC football game on the TV so I could watch it. It was the perfect place to celebrate the Irish win and watch my SC destroy Florida. I highly recommend this establishment. I always try to eat and drink here at least one night during the week when I'm in town for work staying across the street. The bartenders are always nice, and make the out of towner feel like a local, which is what I'd look for in a small neighborhood bar. The pizza is great, and the other food is pretty good too, a (slight) step above your regular run of the mill bar food.... And it's hard to beat a bottle of beer and a shot for 5 bucks Monday through Thursday! read more

I've been playing at this bar for over ten years and though I used to fear the inevitable 1am no attendance shows, new ownership has proven themselves time and again how much it has really changed over the last few years, and for the better. You wouldn't necessarily think to go here if you were driving by, or really even after first walking in, but Cheers has some good food, great specials, and can be a fun time. 35 cent chicken wings 3 or 4 days a week, breadsticks with mozzarella cheese inside (no not cheese sticks, actual breadsticks), and the ultimate deal... Wednesday $10 all you can drink beer. From the look of the place you would expect a one or two star rating, and maybe it would only warrant a 3 star if not for the $10 Wednesday special, but that can't be beat. read more

Great little bar that has live bands on the weekend. Their stage is nice. The bar is not too big or too little.

Perpetually smells like smoke and we got sick after ordering their pizza. Used to come regularly, but probably will not return.
