I came here expecting sushi. What I got was bullshit. All I asked for was a glass of milk and the guy had the audacity to ask me to order something on the menu. I don't know why this has coney island in the name, because it sure as hell didn't have food. What it DID have, was two pool tables, an internet jukebox, and an awesome lady bartender. Generous pours, shots being awarded for best beard in the bar, random dancing to all the songs. Yes this place is dirty and run down and smokey and not for the faint of heart. This is a great place to hang out and drink. The older barkeep is kinda rude but isn't that why you come to dive bars? They definitely need newer restrooms, those there are lacking privacy! Nice experience here none the less. Come out for St. Patrick's day and eat some corned beef and Shepard's pie. read more

Well, what can on say about McCormick's?It is the definitive real bar in town.I have been coming to this place since it opened, and before, when it was the original coney island, over by the river, back in the 1960's when my dad would stop in for a beer, I got to hang out for a bit.Sure, now we got cheesy hipsters and really tacky rappers (dudes, get a life, or a clue), but it is still the coolest place. Where else can I be told, on separate nites by the owner, "Laszlo thank you for gracing us with your presence", to " Laszlo how are you and your marginalized friends doing". LOL I mean it is at least interesting everytime you go there. Art and Pete round out the core of a true downdown bastion of the common man, in an uncommon way. read more

Cheap drinks... Sticky floors, disgusting bathrooms, smokiest place in town. But who can argue with $2.00 Captain and coke?

I waked in on a Saturday right after opening time. The owner was tending the bar. This place had a very warm welcoming feeling. You could really feel the history here. They had about 6 beers on draft and a great variety of other drinks. I hear this is the place to be later on. Live music atmosphere, but the early crowd was nice with great jazz playing. They have old style on draft. Score. This is a solid bar with great atmosphere. Will definitely come back next time I am in town. read more

This is a pretty cool place to drink cheap beer and meet some unstable people. Ventilation seems to be a problem. Drunk hipsters turn the jukebox into a jokebox, LOL. If you don't mind getting hickory cured by cigarette smoke this place is for you. Don't be fooled by the taps, whatever beer their serving will be in bottles and will probably be listed on a piece of paper taped up behind the bar. Fun atmosphere, cheap drinks. It's real divey in here, and they still allow smoking on some nights, though they will often have non-smoking shows. It's sort of a long hallway with a full bar, a pool table, and a stage. The bathrooms are a bit foul, but it's a nice place to chill with cheap/stiff drinks and beers. It gets super loud in here where there is a show/karaoke but it's real nice when it's quiet. I actually would give it 6 stars. 3 of us 3 hours of hard boozing vodka and scotch, tab was 30 bucks. Saw some guy get knocked out and carried out on a stretcher. And met the limo driver in Rudy. This is my go-to DTSB bar. The drinks are very cheap and the atmosphere is what I want from a bar. Quiet during earlier hours (we love getting take out and walking over to McCormicks to eat it with a couple beers), and fun, loud, and crazy late at night. They do karaoke on Mondays, have tons of bands coming in to play, affordable cover charges, and did I mention CHEAP drinks. Seriously, on a night with a good special, you can get wasted here for $20. They also just swapped out the Golden Tee machine for Mortal Kombat (YAS). I ALWAYS have a good time at McCormicks. read more

Pete the bartender wouldn't not offer me a water. Had to go elsewhere just to get water, I didn't even care that i had to pay for it. Just the simple fact that the bartender clearly stated that he'd been waiting to ID me and was mad that I wasn't really ordering anything. read more
